I think Connecticut has got it worse for the lack of DDR/ITG/PIU machines. On here we only have a few machine known in the Fairfield County, and we don't have above EXTREME. PIU is non-existent in this state.

I've literally talked to a few arcade owners, and they all said they though EXTREME was the last DDR...

I feel so alone...there are only one or two DDR players in my area that I know of...the rest of the people who have used the EXTREME machine I've gone to are people who don't know how to play and fail at the easiest songs on Beginner...and it's embarrassing...they give up half way too.

EDIT: Just checked...ITG 2 is in Stamford.

Don't you dare go to Stafford (and I MEAN Staff-ord) and their crummy ITG2 with a fake r23 hard drive. Me and a friend already lost $400 that we know fate is never going to return to us attempting to hack that machine, acting like a couple of wannabes trying to stoop up to the level of the ITG community that can ACTUALLY hack ITG machines successfully. Too bad that out of all the attention they give to the care, well being & song inventory of ITG machines, none of those seem to go to NY, whose remaining ITG machines desperately need it the most, despite an ironically high population, compared to the lower population states that seem to somehow have it better than us here in NY. At least they all got an ITG community with people who are actually known, can pass 15s & up without a bar, has hacked machines by the truckloads, can make teams without being trolled to hell and back, and actually hold ITG tournaments. Why can't NY have all of that? We're far more populated, urban, and modernized than they are, so what's wrong?

Hmmm... Yeah, the only machines I've gotten to play and enjoy since moving down here are the Dave & Busters and Peter Pan, neither of which were anything too phenomenal. There's an arcade in Syracuse with an X2 cab that works really nicely, though. I only got to play it a few times before I moved a few years ago, so I'm not sure what kind of condition it's in now.

The X2 in Syracuse is pretty bad now. However, I've got a badass machine in my house... anyone is welcome to stop in, and I open the house up on Friday nights for DDR players from anywhere to show up. It's a good time!

Not to downplay the situation downstate is in, but this post reeks of entitlement. "Modernized"? The modern state of gaming is moving towards the living room; if anything, you're pushing for retro gaming at this point. I don't know much about the state of ITG in the five boroughs themselves, but there are definitely machines in the Tristate area. And before you grump about travel time, a large portion of the ITG players that don't own a machine travel over an hour one way to the nearest cab.
I honestly can't tell whether you want the entire ITG community to move to NYC, or just an in-shape ITG machine, lol.

Also, vouching for Adamn's setup, it's super awesome (plus he's a great guy to hang out with whether the topic is dance games or not)

At least give me a good enough portion to get NY to be part of the action that goes on out there that we've been missing out on all these years. Apparently I started ITG too late and missed the wave of novelty, but why should that mean I'm not allowed to bask in that ambience, just because I live in NY?

Pushing for more AC machines is fine, but if there's not a lot of people who care deeply enough to invest time and money to help, then it becomes a waste of resources. Personally, I happen to be in a position where I could invest money to help bring in DDR/ITG machines to some of the arcades in the city (NYC), but the cost is too great and there's not enough people around my area that actually care that much about the games anymore, or at all. It would be a waste of my time and my money to help bring in machines when there's little to no demand for them. At this point arcades in general are on life support, and there's not much that can be done to change that outlook. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, rather i'm being realistic.

The one that's going to be opening up at the Crossgates Mall in Albany. Upstate New York, about 3 hours or so north of NYC. Or 20 minutes from my house. Tongue

I'll probably be there early/late afternoon. Even if they end up having Pump (which I suck at) and not DDR, it's just cool that we're even getting a Dave and Buster's in the first place.

Just look for a somewhat short kid with long hair and it'll be me. Well, that description could fit a lot of people, but yeah.

Ahah well you know I have my own upgrade cab so I'm hoping for a pump machine Tongue

Complaining about DDR while playing DDR sounds like fun too though. I heard 300bpm crossovers never get boring.

You have no idea, dude. 300bpm crossovers are pussy shit! I heard Tsugaru Standard is still the hardest song ever, and that no one has ever passed it!

OK, what's all this about Tsugaru Standard ? I've heard of the story every now and then, but is it really a true story, or was it just some fake rumor and is now a running joke & meme you guys use all the time on here? I just don't get it.

Hope you're right about the DDR X2, just can't get into Extreme anymore. Might head up Sunday to check it out.

The only issue I personally have with X2 is that the pads can go to complete shit pretty quickly if they're not taken care of. As long as the workers at this DnB's aren't complete idiots, it shouldn't be a problem. It would just be nice to have something other than Extreme for once, since that's all we have around here.

Try being in Arkansas. Geezus. Moving from north and central IL to here pretty much killed it for me. I suddenly became -the- guy in that state for all practical purposes that knew what they were at least doing with the arcade games and it came off as either something completely comical or completely magical to the local folk, depending on who it was you were entertaining but for the most part, hardly anyone cared and those that did muster the courage to touch the machines were typically in group dares laughing like idiots when they attempted to use the damned machines.

Or it'd be worse still on Friday nights when the 'people who would have fun' would come out. The next day each machine that I would know about (though little there are now) would be in disrepair. I'm impressed Namco LR put up with it as long as they did considering it wasn't really giving them that much cash.

It's another reason of several that I can point out to why it declined for me. It's just seen as a completely different thing of culture in this state, too surreal to even imagine, apparently. Considering the talk of the town is bibles, booze, blasties and bolting (guns and NASCAR), beating on a DDR machine only comes out of boredom.

Alliteration.

So yea, I'd probably take your 'dying' states over one that's been dead for nearly a decade.

I'm actually not the one really complaining. The original poster of this thread had way more complaints than I did. Me saying that we don't really have anything other than Extreme where I am isn't as much of a complaint as it is just stating the obvious. The "scene" in New York, while not really anything to get excited over like it was a few years ago, is still reasonably active. You can go pretty much anywhere in the state that has a DDR machine and be able to find at least 2 or 3 other people who play. That's way more than I can say for a place like Connecticut, or in your case, Arkansas. I've never been to Arkansas so I can't really say anything, but I'm really not surprised that their scene is in that sort of shape.
