"Full Stream Ahead!"
I barely even get to play on arcades anymore unless it's at conventions.

Though I may start going to Dueling Grounds again once the ITG cab is all fixed. Smile
Thanks so much for the banner Lord Toon! And for the icon Dan!

SN2 at South Park Mall has been fixed; it's not perfect, but it's far better than it was. It's still a little iffy on holding freezes.

"Protecting The Emeralds And Gems"
I might still take a trip up, considering I get my play from a shoddy Extreme and SN1, which I wouldn't mind if the SN1 wasn't just god awful. I've been getting into the habit of playing now that it's a little warmer out X3

Extreme at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor has moved to a different part of the mall (now near Fuji Japanese Steakhouse) and is $0.75/5 songs, joint premium. Pads are in pretty good condition.

Hey, it's me again. I figured I'd re-post this in this thread due to a bit more foot traffic on the board compared to the Arcade section...

I'm inquiring about the DDR X2 machine at the Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Westlake. Is this the same machine that was in the Independence Cinemark some years ago that had the weird pad issue (on the Player 2 side, I think) that would cause the speed mods to fire because of some wiring issue? I'm interested in checking this location out, but I don't know if that problem's been fixed since the machine was moved. I sure would like to try out a new machine to vary my usual routine...

Aside from that, the Supernova 2 at Southpark Mall is still a pretty solid machine if anyone wants to come check it out. Smile

I don't know if it's the same machine, but a friend checked it out like a month ago. Here's what he posted about it on FB:

"I just checked this place out. I highly recommend that nobody ever go there to play. Both pads barely function, and the music is set to an insanely low level, which they can't adjust because it's "company property." Plus the environment in the arcade area is just weird and uncomfortable."

Feel free to join the OhioDDR facebook group, too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1464923623735759/

Well, crap. Confused That kind of sucks. Still, thanks for the details, man. I guess I will give that group a check and see what else is up in this community dance game-wise.

~~

I figured I'd mention a couple extra things about my recent visit to SkyZone in Westlake to play their X2.

No doubt about it, that machine just doesn't click with me. Playing two rounds on it made it realize it's not that one from the Independence Cinemark, because it doesn't fire the speed mods haphazardly, but for someone having played on an Extreme-era/Supernova 2 upgrade for most of their life, it's very uncomfortable., Those pads are hella recessed to the point that's it's hard to tell what side is better, which part of the panel responds more, and even when the panels fire, if at all. Even then, I did manage to AA something on the left side, and I ended the day with some boss songs on Difficult (New Decade and Possession) just to see how I could fare. A B on both is better than nothing, I suppose...

On that note, I couldn't help but notice that someone named RiOdO managed to AAA Zero Expert on the right side! If you're available for comment, was this machine at least a bit more functional before it arrived in Ohio? I know that Betson's handling of the X2 dedicabs was pretty shoddy, but I can't help but feel that the machine was at least somewhat decent before it started on a downhill slide.

It's a damn shame this is the only X2 near where I live that isn't the one in the Cincinnati Gameworks, because I really do love the song selection and aesthetic as much as Supernova 2. I mean, as much as I appreciate seeing at least a bit of activity in the DDR Ohio group I was linked to earlier, I'm not really in a position to travel more than half and hour around where I live to keep up with DDR, at least at this moment. Still, I'll keep my eyes open for anything new in the coming months (hopefully the new US DDR could drop by the D&Bs, that'd be awesome), and keep rockin' the Supernova 2 like I always do. Cheers! Smile

I just noticed the edit; Riodo is from Pittsburgh. Not sure what he was ever doing on that machine. Maybe it was somewhere else before the Cinemark.

As for D&B, I spoke briefly with Bacchus (the senior VP of amusement for D&B) and he said that at least within the first wave, there are no plans for any Ohio D&B location to get a new DDR machine this summer.

D+B toledo is open. Brand spanking new Prime. Tried to update arcade database but it still hasn't shown up, maybe I did it wrong or it needs approval or something.
