That makes sense, although I have yet to hear about the US and UK cabinets having different displays, which would use different framerates. Does anyone know if they use the same hardware?
They would have to use different displays. I don't know how to fully explain it, but I'm sure someone can better explain. Basically the frame rate in the US/JP would be 60 hertz and the frame rate would be 50 hertz in the UK.
Guys, X2 runs in 1280x720 and in 60Hz. PAL/NTSC only matters if you're still using the yellow/white/red cables on consoles.
The issue at hand here is that the EU upgraded DDR Xs uses different hardware to brand new DDR X2s which is the source of the problem and yet Konami fails to do anything about it.

Does the new X2 at Namco Station in London have the same problem? If not well, that's going to be the arcade I go to before the london furmeets (yes, I'm a furfag, get over it you pansies)

Eeeyup! Dunno about P2W (first time I've heard about P2W. I'm not a local LANDAN bloke). Best bet is to try NS at Westminster. Also, while you're there, check the X2 plz? I want to do ValkDim in like 2 weeks :3Also, hoping P2W up the road still has their EM2 (never thought I'd say that) :p
(I should just get a Bic Macintosh image as my avatar... Eeeyup!)

I'll make a trip down to Namco one of the days, but if it's an X upgraded to X2 it's probably gonna be shit. X cabs are comboable but VERY difficult to get AAAs on. Hoping Namco still has their SuperNOVA..
(and Play2Win - the "original" arcade with the Para Para cab for Laaaaandan folk with a really good EM2 :p)

I've found out that I'm going to london this saturday so I'll be definitely checking out the X2 there. Also, eeeyup, they have all of the UK DDR releases except for Fusion because everyone says that Fusion is poopy(and Play2Win - the "original" arcade with the Para Para cab for Laaaaandan folk with a really good EM2 :p)

I guess we are lucky in Australia, we dont have any X dedicabs or X2 dedicabs (that i am aware of), all our old Korean and Japanese cabs have been upgraded with X and X2, we are yet to have drift issues.

Went to Namco Station tonight. Their machine didn't have the drifting bug... but it did have timing issues and sticky pads! I've reported the issue to the technician and got 4 swag Namco Tokens for it

Not like it will accomplish anything. I'm pretty sure people have been doing that since X2 came out and had all the pad issues and the Drifting Bug.

I'm gonna go London soon to check it out, if it does not have the drifting bug, this would indicate that one is a dedicab.

Have you guys ever figured out what causes the bug? I know it only happens in upgrade machines but do you guys know if it's like a hardware issue of some sort?

Hardware differences are causing the timing to shift, which the software has not accounted for, or rather Konami forgot to account for.

Don't the pads run through the serial port, stupidly?
