I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask this, but does somebody know where the sample that appears at the beginning of Crazy Control comes from? I think I've heard that part in some other songs but I can't find out the source of it

I think it's a coincidence, the entire song is full of vocals sung exclusively for the song

smh konami
anyways uwu
STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️ was not going to feature jun as the vocalist but some other j-pop vocalist, maybe someone from BeForU
Keep On Movin has the beatmania classics label in DDR APPEND CLub Version Vol. 2 and in the Dreamcast Edition as well, so maybe it was meant for the 5-key series but who knows it could be an error that never got fixed

"suffering from success"
the general consensus is that it's SUPPOSED to be the groove radar for NEMESIS / DJ SETUP as data for it technically can be found in the game's data (at least in the Demo Disc)
personally, i don't think that's exactly the case as (at the very least) the charts we did end up getting for it were not nearly as chaotic and not nearly as lacking in freezes. could've been a beta chart. could've been data bleed through from RHYTHM AND POLICE. could've been konami slapping our titties. no one really knows.

DJ Silver has an RemyWiki account and added so many juicy info here, and it's revealed that he assisted in voiceover work for the Hottest Party series, was commissioned by Toshiba-EMI for true... (trance sunrise remix) with Pearl Works, and that there was a female announcer for the HP series that was never used.

Also I don't know if this has been noted anywhere else, but the start of DYNAMITE RAVE on one of the Megamixes sounds exactly the same as the part that comes after the first set of rap in the long version from 5thMix. I kinda believe that the long version of that song was produced almost at the same time as the short version of the song

Personally, I believe that Dynamite Rave (long ver.) may have just been the regular short version, but padded with extra instrumental bars. I was disappointed about that and the lack of any twists in the melody, a new stanza or line of lyrics, etc. SomethingRandom summed it up perfectly.

---------

In luv wit u, real -high- speed had to jump thru a console generation on their journey to be on international home versions. They initially debuted as CS songs on DDR X JP PS, and then landed to USA/EUR on DDR II for the Wii. I'm sure the same could be said for any early PS1 mix song who may have jumped to the XBOX UM series, but I can't name any at the moment.

---------

Dancing Stage Fusion AC swapped out some of the home version songs for some if not all of the Extreme USA licensed covers, making this mix their only AC outings. One weird addition was Tough Enough, a licensed track not on the home version, but on the XBOX DDR UM2 game.

Thank you so much, Lord Toon!

waiting for tonight was on sn2 btw, so that one managed to survive 2 more AC games

According to DJ Silver, the female announcer in DanceEvo was meant to be used in the HOTTEST PARTY series Blushing

Also Stillwind was behind Two Months Off and FAINT's covers (not the vocals though)

true... (trance sunrise remix) was commissioned by Toshiba-EMI, which is really interesting given that an outsider company can do such thing and suggests some song rights are technically owned by them??? idk

In the backgrounds folder in Ultramix 3 their is a xmv file that is called "tono", when you open it in VLC, it's a background clip for Tsugaru. Because the original Tsugaru was in Ultramix 1, this could mean Apple Mix was originally gonna be in Ultramix 3 either as DLC because the challenge songs are DLC, whats even more strange is this clip isn't in the background files for Ultramix 2. I would post pictures but I don't use stuff like Photobucket or all that jazz.

Hold up. You found this from an iso file of ULTRAMIX3? If so, do you remember exactly where you found said iso file?

https://youtu.be/ZVNEoP3JF8w the big think

some of the notes in this chart form a pattern in the shape of a swastika, it may be coincidence but given the manji in the original graphics, and the okiniwan/highly asian sound of this song, i think it may be intentional uwu (swastikas are a religious symbol in asian countries including Japan and are not viewed in the same way as the west views them like how Americans view the symbol as one of the Nazis Cry)

Play Hard samples 2 songs that were scrapped from previous american console releases (better off alone and in my dreams; hp3/dce and um2 respectively)

hudson soft did some ddr games as some of y'all may know but their contributions also included designing stepcharts for the following games: HP2, 2010, and II (which may explain their quality Roll Eyes)

Some of y'all may know this if you own a copy of the game and viewed the credits but many have probably not so: X2 AC uses the ending theme from its "respective" console version that was released earlier in 2009, it's more obvious as you realize J-Mi and Midi-D did the X2 AC BGMs, while the credits song is clearly and distinctly nc or Hiroshi Kato to be exact
- J-Mi was also the announcer for the first 2 ULTRAMIX Games, as stated in the credits, and the composer of the BGMs for those respective games (or just UM1) is Jaren Tolman, the person who did GYRUSS -FULL TILT-
- Speaking of announcers, the ULTRAMIX 3 announcer I think might be a reverand, (yes) but I am unsure to say that it really is bc it doesn't clearly list him as the announcer and has a similar but one that probably proves me wrong credit but whatever he was credited again as a thanks for assisting in the audio/announcer/sound whateva area so maybe it is him
- And also speaking of BGMs, FESTIVAL also uses the ULTRAMIX2 selection BGM, but only that and it is the only Japanese game to use a BGM from any of the ULTRAMIX sequels rip
- Speaking of ULTRAMIX sequels, SuperNova imported ULTRAMIX songs that have never appeared on a CS JP catch-up release for the Xbox games/songs/stuff (lol) prior to SN's release, namely the ULTRAMIX 3 songs and ULTRAMIX2 DLC songs or just one uwu and so that's interesting that the AC team would import these songs since Japan won't get more Xbox songs they haven't seen already in a DDR game b4 until X2 AC and no more CS catch-up releases would be made after STR!KE, and also Drivin' would be a ULTRAMIX3 song speaking of but the Konami Japan higher ups decided otherwise and now it debuted on SN officially uwu (ugh I use uwu too much but it be like dat sumtimez uwu uwu uwu)

- ULTRAMIX and ULTRAMIX 2 use the same exact credits music smh #lazyjk

- B4U (Rising Sun Mix) uses the exact (more or less) original lyrics and vocals while its' companion song or replacement in the US version of HP uses some new lyrics and uses a new vocalist, thus (Rising Sun Mix) is the only new Hottest Party remix/remake/reimagining of a classic DDR song that debuted in the HP series (so the KISS KISS KISS remix doesn't count uwu) that mostly uses the original lyrics and vocals

-The ULTRAMIX routines were motion captured and performed by (TO BE FILLED IN LATER BUT ITS A MAN AND WOMAN DUH) for the guy routine and lady routine respectively, AFRO and lady

facts that i am not sure if i mentioned this before but if i did sorry uwu:
- solo bass mix konami originals were recorded in miami, using vocalists that have sung for dancemania bass covers, hysteria and let the beat hit em' clearly share the same vocalists
- am-3p is technically the first DDR/Naoki song to feature japanese vocals of sorts uwu

speaking of am-3p, said song and put your faith in me also are the first DDR/Naoki songs to feature NON-sampled vocals (Put Your Faith In Me has a lyricist credited, the female vocals are the ones recorded specifically for the song)

scrapped 3rd MIX PLUS song TOTAL RECALL appears in beatmania, however, the beatmania cut is different from the cut of the song data that was found in the 3rd MIX PLUS data

DoLL and Ki-Se-Ki are the only(?) songs in DDR SN that kept their BGs, though DoLL's bg is merely the intro to the video that appears along with the song, and Ki-Se-Ki's bg is embedded to its' video probably

Misc: ULTRA HIGH HEELS being planned to appear on 4th Mix turned out to be a hoax Cry no any sort of data appears in the 4th mix files, and the pop'n music comment is most likely misspoke about the vocalist appearing in DDR unless she did Dancemania songs (or one of the songs with non-sampled vocals that we don't know who the vocalist is as of this writing)
IF YOU WERE HERE was going to have its' long version in 5th Mix, but the only source we know of that was gonna happen is from IGN and nothing else, and it's only mentioned by IGN stating there'd be long versions of popular songs and they go to name on popular DDR song, and IF YOU WERE HERE was one of them so who knows if IF YOU WERE HERE was gonna have its' long version there or if IGN was just randomly naming examples of (potentially to get their long version on 5th MIX) famous DDR classics
and more fun facts later to come uwu

The ULTRAMIX routines were performed by Kenny Harlow and Claire Kutsko. I believe Kenny was one of the cholo dancers from the movie Bring it On: Fight to the Finish and Claire was one of the backup dancers for Dreamgirls (2006).

No this wasn't from an ISO, I found it in the Background Folder so I'm just assuming that Apple Mix was originally gonna be in the game, don't know if it's true so take it with a grain of salt.

I figured the true reason for why KI-SE-KI kept its bg in arcade releases!!!
Notice how the actual MV for KI-SE-KI doesn't begin until like 3-5 seconds in, which means Konami would either have to begin the song with a freeze frame of the first second of the video or begin with nothingness until the video fades in. So what about the other MVs Konami ported to arcades? Well their MVs actually begin sooner than 3-5 seconds, and that those other MVs that originally debuted in EX2/STR!KE. So if you played those aforementioned songs in the games where their current MVs debuted in, it turns out the background image of the song at the start is covering the first or two seconds of the music video. Thus, those games don't use the same script for movies as EXTREME/FESTIVAL does. Watch AFRONOVA PRIMEVAL for example running on a current arcade mix and the debut of its MV in EX2. You will notice arcade mixes have one or two extra seconds of footage of the MV that isn't usually seen if you played that song on EX2. That's how I found out that the bg image is really just overlaid over the footage and that EX2 doesn't run movies the same way FESTIVAL does. It's likely the arcade team had to compile the bg and movie together for KI-SE-KI and edit them into another full-length video.

Small nitpick

Swastika and Manji are not the same thing. Swastika is facing the other direction and tilted at a 45 degree angle. People only get them confused because they look so similar; they are not the same thing though.

I've been trying to force Mario mix to let me play the story versions of some songs through debug mode and I found out that internally all difficulties are named in the same way they are named in MAX, unlike in the game itself which uses more generic names
