I guess I'm guilty of occasionally jumping on people for no real reason (like the time I accused some random guy in the DDR X thread of being Orpheous, which resulted in numerous undeserved -5 ratings for said guy). 
Nowadays I only give -5 ratings when I think it's needed, which really isn't that often. Some people seem to like going batshit crazy with -5's, so... I dunno.

I agree. Don't get yourself worked up so much, because someone made a response to upset you. It is the internet, and although there are jerks, you really don't know the person outside of their user name. often i think -5 is too harsh to give someone straight off the bat for a silly thing, i think i've only ever given a -5 to ban evaders and lukeyboysonic (lol)
all other negative ratings i've given were -1s or -2s for continuous mistakes i think. i don't even know
edit: actually i just checked and the only negative ratings i've given are to banned people. i've not seen anyone who really deserves a negative rating who frequently posts here (although that's not to say that i think everyone here is a model member)

I haven't even mentioned the problems Zukin-Man have caused me over the years, how he calls me butthurt and/or emo and even once told me to go eat glass! All because of an old resentment I had towards hentai, and we all know he is certainly a touch too much into that. He has gone so far that he even has rated me a -5 just because of THAT thing.
With that behavior, he would only look like he has a way too huge ego, and having no respect towards people who dislikes what he likes.

Look, right. Calling him out personally and making him out as a big nasty person is only going to cause him to react, and then you'll probably get more pissed off by him. If you just let it slip, without complaining about him, maybe he won't react the way he does.

I'm speaking as somebody that walked into Z-I-v relatively late in the game, after Aegis, silenttype01, Zukin-Man, Bolt-Edge, etc. had defined their forum/chat personalities, but I will say that it took a few weeks to get past my (sometimes very poor) first impressions and get an idea of what kinds of people I was really interacting with.
I typically give people a generous chance to impress me, though. And I stayed in the chat for a long time before branching into the forums. You are judging a book by its cover, and in my views, that's enough reason to receive a -5. The both of you have been members for two years. Let bygones be bygones and appreciate him for who he is.
He has an ego because he's in the FUCKING AIR FORCE(?) FUCK YEAH!!! However, his ego does not come from his lifestyle. Howie has respect for people but he shows it in his own way. He has my respect and I'm sure I have his. If you haven't caught on by now, he enjoys his freedom of speech and will express his opinions on the matter at hand.

You registered 2.4 years ago at the time of this post. He registered 2 years ago. This site is four years old approx. Don't make it seem that he has been giving you problems from the start.
