I am sure that Konami isn't dumb enough to cut this line. IIDX is one of there most popular lines. With more exposure and proper marketting it would have beat Guitar Hero back in the days...but they let Konami US decide what songs should be on the bmUS release...talk about a stupid move.

My thought is that this WILL be a DVD9 if they are actually going to commit to a release of this size. The average IIDX rip is between 3gigs and 4gigs. All they are doing is doubling the normal number of songs. Really the leap to PS3 isn't ready yet. I mean...a bluetooth IIDX ASC...the ASC is already 450$/JKOC is 100$...adding bluetooth is like another 25$ ~ 150$. That's way too much cause it would have to be packaged with the new release.

...sadly...I know I'd still buy it...

Two separate DVDs seems unlikely, although that would be awesome since I wont be able to play the game at all if its DVD9. Sad

It's not enough songs for a PS3 release...You release that EMPRESS is the largest IIDX release and it's 23 Gigs...It has 500 songs. A PS3 Game goes up to 50 Gigs...

Anyone think of this?

...I'm not going to get my hopes up... yet. I love most of the boss songs on IIDX so I won't be playing any other mixes any time soon if I get this.

Where's my all boss-song game for DDR? Annoyed

DDR Extreme CS JP? I think that was supposed to be THE FINAL for mainstream DDR PS2 games. Though, that idea kinda died after Konami saw how much money ITG was making.

also...

actually, KOJ handled that too. They just kind of predicted our tastes wrong. I would imagine if KOA picked the songs, we would get good stuff like 8-bit, jamiroquai, pendulum.. think UNI songs. If only... Roll Eyes

Except they didn't.

The Sound Director for bmUS was Toshiyuki Kakuta, also known as L.E.D.

Well I took the liberty of listening to the IIDX songs (I've decided to give IIDX a shot) I've never listened to on that list and I have to say Monkey Dance is my favorite Smile I'd wish there was more Y&Co. on this list Sad

I wonder how the special edition Empress CS case is going to look. I hope the case would be a Jewel Style (Pink Color) with the Empress Game Enclosed in it (The Jewel ). That would be REALLY cool. BTW, I hope this isn't the FINAL IIDX game released...

Just a random thought, what if the theoretical second revival disc is for the Special Edition only? I don't think they would release a two-disc set right off the bat in stores and this DVD9 thing sounds fishy to me for IIDX.

If they did that, I'd have to charge it even if I don't have the money. I wouldn't miss something like that!
I still think it'll be two games. Empress and a IIDX best hits. I mean, there was a beatmania best hits game for PS1 right?

I don't see what's so wrong with DVD9 games on PS2? Some PS2 games have been on dual layers before.

Sometimes some PS2s have trouble with dual-layer DVDs. Also, those playing imports with Swap Magic can't play DVD9 games.

True, this one is gonna screw over people who import the games without a Japanese PS2 if it happens to be on a DVD9.

That would be really bad, because we want Konami to think that lots and lots of people buy the IIDX games, and if half the people that usually buy them can't because it's on a DVD9, well, that's bad right?

The IIDX best hits idea is really interesting.... that would be pretty awesome. Hmm. I'll just keep on praying for no dual layers. I can't afford to buy a J-PS2 and import the game Cry

I'm willing to remain positive. Wouldn't play-asia's sales drop significantly too is they decided to release it on such an unaccessible hardware? I mean, I believe most people import through SwapMagic and not a JPS2 (please correct me if I am wrong. that was an assumption)

Welllll, I did go ahead and pick up a japanese PS2 just in case I couldn't get a SwapMagic working, so I think I'd be fine... who here uses SwapMagic?
