not to diminish the significance of the arson (i agree, this is truly terrifying, this is incredibly devastating all around)
but it's actually the worst mass murder since the Tokyo sarin attack (or the 9/1/2001 incident but that is unconfirmed as the suspect has not been caught or properly identified), but yeah, Japan rarely has serious cases like this, and something like an arson being committed to one of the most lauded, and wholesome anime studios with incredible ethics, dedication and love experiencing deaths, damage, trauma, etc resulted from the attack. Let's remember those who lost their lives, pray for a swift recovery for those injured or hope those who are missing are found and well alive, donate money to cover the costs of the damage that has been done, and not give any undeserved attention to the suspect

It's now being reported by the CEO of KyoAni that all media in the bulilding, physical and digital, has been destroyed. Not only were 30+ lives lost, but the work that each and every of those men and women were working on is gone forever, basically ensuring the work they died making will never be seen. Fucking awful.

A whole legacy destroyed by someone who shouted "You die!" in a single explosion. This is the most tragic loss in the anime industry, probably as bad as the Universal Music fire in 2008 (brought to light by NYT this past month at the time of writing) that destroyed the masters of over 700+ artists signed to their label.

It's reported that the person who executed the attack claimed that the studio (or someone inside the studio) plagarized/stole from him? This is fucked up.

I have no words for any of this. Nothing I could say can bring back the 30+ lives that were lost in this terrible, senseless act. Rest in peace to all who lost their lives.
