Did the Xbox versions have much of a framerate problem, I had universe and noticed that, but did ultramix?

Oh wow, I never noticed the ultramix versions had it when I had them (a couple years ago), that stinks, I thought those actually got it right, hopefully Uni 3 will fix it, though I doubt it...

in regards to the xbox versions, it seemed to get worse as it went along. UM1 wasnt bad with the frame rate, but still wasnt consistent. you could play 10 songs and only 1 would have frame rate issues. the sync on the other hand was a totally different story. -3 seems to fix it though, so at least the bad sync was consistent.

on UM2, the frame rate was only bad with the BG videos. turn them off and the game runs fine. the jump timing was atrocious though, and had NO leeway. there were times when i would finish something like love shine with 0 greats and 5 misses, because of the jumps. AAing super-max-me mix on UM2 was pretty much out of the question for me(got it on strike and SN though, which made me happy).

for UM3, it seems like nothing makes the game better. sync drifts, and varies from song to song so you cant fix it in the options with a simple +/-. the frame rate is bad even without the BG videos. jumps were fixed though.

UM4 was like UM2, with fixed jumps. worst song list of the 4 though IMO.

What? I've never had to adjust timing on any DDR game I have...and yes on an LCD TV...

As for Ultramixes and the framerate
1: Choppy
2: Choppy, unless you take off bgs or dancers
3: Fine
4: slightly choppy.

What the hell?

1: Fine, it looks and probably is a modified DDRMAX engine or something.
2: The custom engine. Framerate isn't so much the problem as is the delayed showing of step judgments.
3: Here I could say there was bad framerate. Probably because the lifebar is too sparkly, everything is just sparkly but unlike Code Geass it was not fabulous.
4: Like 2, except with new step judgments.

Hmm.

I'm guessing this will use the same or similar engine to Dancing Stage Winx.

Don't get your hopes up. If you have any left that is. You might not if you bought bundles for both instead of waiting like I did.

My... My god... Dude... I'm really sorry! *holds Kyzentun* It's okay to cry... I'll be your shoulder to cry on! Man, now you have really been raked over the coals by those two sub-par DDRs, huh?

I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, especially after the disaster that was X/HP2 and even how lackluster Disney Channel Edition came out... but it's in my nature to be (sadly) optimistic about video games. It's my cross to bare~

*raises wine glass* Here's hoping they stop pretending Alison Wade (and the rest of her talentless friends) is a good vocalist for songs that aren't in the Broadway/Showtunes style and put her to work on some Mary Poppins covers!

Hopefully won't be anything like the last one, ruined EX2 Engine.

It's really the stepcharts that bug me. It's like they got somebody off of ffr that thinks jumps are the best thing ever, and has never played on their feet before. So the charts end up with jumps all over the place for no reason at all, and if you try to crossover, you end up turned away from the screen or spinning. I'll stick with ITG, where charts you're supposed to memorize to do well on are the exception, not the rule.
I actually like the usual number of songs, but the announcers are just irritating with their always on in menus crap.

indeed. i felt like they were very good, and despite some flaws(like DDRX's course mode sill being shared between non-stop and oni) some of the best we've seen in a while.

I really think the HP2 stepcharts were the ones that overused jumps and had awkward patterns (In many anyways). I didn't really see much of that at all in the X charts besides a few choice selections (Trigger and the Saber Wing Remix have some weird patterns in their onis as I recall, Venus oni has one part in its patterns that bugs me, and the ending of Ticket to Bombay has those sort of random jumps).

What the fuck? X and HP2 were dissapointments sure, but they were good DDR games. If youre gonna say they're shitty, then justify your word.

lol osaka evovled. But then I thought it was common knowledge that HP1/2 had way more jumps, or was it just me who noticed

Eh, my views on step quality have probably changed as I've gained experience. I currently dislike step jumps and random double stepping, both of which are common in X and HP 2. Sure, I could be like every other player out there, and switch to using the bar, barely moving my feet, and never crossing over, but I prefer not to.

And yes, HP 1/2 have more jumps than other games, probably due in part to some steps being meant to be a combined step and hand shake. I just don't care enough to learn hand motions. Give me ITG hands instead.
