...

I'd rather play my home versions instead. ;)

I prefer not to be ridiculed by people who play Expert and only Expert. This does look fun although I have some slight concerns of them shafting us on future Guitar Hero material because they want to make "Arcade exclusive" songs to make more money.

Anyway, this looks like a very solid start to GH ARC. If I can ever get into an arcade in Philadelphia (Dave and Busters think that I'll order booze at 2 in the afternoon for some reason), they'll probably have it and I'll give it a whirl. Surprised

you say that about getting in as if you'll never turn 21 or something :p

anyway, arcade exclusive songs wont be a horrible thing. they happen in DDR all the time, and while there is some bitching about it, its not like it breaks the home versions.

It's a freaking arcade. I'm not going to drag my parents there or pay some random guy to walk in with me. Check I.D at the bar, not the games. Annoyed

About the arcade exclusives: it depends on how they go about it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first popular rhythm-based arcade game that America has produced? There isn't much to go on.

like i said, you'll turn 21 eventually.

and it may be the first popular american based rhythm game, but that doesnt mean its not comparable to petit love not being in 4th CS or extra mix. there you'll be, it only takes a minute, and more than i needed to know not being in 7th CS. seniorita not being in extreme CS. me against the music and feint(not that anyone missed this one...) not being in SN2 CS.

if you want to compare US home versions to US arcade versions, i can compare japanese home versions to japanese arcade versions :p

Has anyone seen an official Guitar Hero *coughs* "3" arcade yet?

Last month I happened to bump into one and that American Idol booth at my local movie theatre. I took plenty of pictures that day for both the American Idol Booth and the Guitar Hero arcade. If anyone wants some pictures uploaded then I'll gladly upload them if I can find my USB cord for my blackberry.

Really? Yes we would love to see some pictures of this, and also see if you can ask the manager where he was able to get it from...

Guitar Hero AC & American Idol Booth

Based on speculations, the controllers are a modified version of the 360 controllers with some ethernet jacks on the bottom of the controllers. The game itself seems to be a AC version of Guitar Hero 3. As for American Idol, I bothered less to try it out due to lack of money and the amusement of the Konami logo splashing about every half-minute in the opening sequence.

Oh snap...

So it is officially released? Hmmm, how would you say the response to this has been? Have you seen people play the game? And if so, are there any new songs within the game or is it the same songlist as GH3?

It would seem so. Release date shows 11/21/08 running on ver 0.2.4 post IAAPA presentation. Response from people seemed pretty weak and indifferent.

Allot of people attempted Expert; trying to find the typical hard song to play through. Most of them failed due to their overconfidence and cockiness.

This arcade release really isn't helping out the arcade scene at all, especially the American Idol booth.

Damn, i would have expected it to...well i knew the American Idol AC wouldn't get much attention, i would also expect the worst for the GH AC too, seeing as to people would rather play at home rather than outside, that or if it is the exactly like the GH3 game, then why bother going when you can buy it for 50 bucks nowadays?

Meh, hopefully this shows up somewhere in Tampa, I want to give this thing a try >_>

UPDATE: MTV Interviews Raw Thrills VP about the GH AC

...the quote that said that Konami came up to them and asked them to see if they wanted to develop a GH AC made me s*** bricks...even HE was shocked at this...

So by early Feb it should be in most arcades everywhere, i'm guessing they are just releasing a couple just to see the response...i think.

Ugh, purely atrocious.

I've been wondering why they haven't been sued. Of course Japan whored out its rights. GH is a disgusting example of Americanism. It's nice and pretty...

Sure, fine, American classics are okay, but that's IT?! C'mon, bring in some modern POPULAR stuff. V5 had ALMOST EASY, now c'mon isn't that diversity for a JAPANESE GAME?!?!

Rock Band is simply horrible. The drums are too friggin' easy, and why the hell does it look like a kid's toy? Fine, fine, the up and down strum capacity is unique and undone, but that's all you get with it. It's all for looks! No performance!

God, Rock Band is just like an H3. Sure, it looks impressive, but you have to drive from gas station to gas station.

I just HATE GH and Rock Band. Simply horrible.

UGH!!!

And don't get me started on American Idol. If the show sucks, why would you make a game based off of it? Just wait, MTV is gonna come out with their own DJ Game soon enough, and it's gonna be some knockoff Beatmania with three turns and a couple switches with ONLY rap music.

Oh, and one other thing, I looked at the pic, and all over the places involving the mentioned logos I see suspicious white lines. Lighting? Yeah, that would explain it right below the Guitar Hero logo, but how about to the right of the left cab? *rubs chin*

Took the photo into paint and enhanced it several times too. Now, I find it out how at the bottom of thes cabs everything looks nice and natural, but then as you get about halfway you start seeing fragments of white. Someone used a HQ pic editor imho. It's also way too clear right above the logos. Camera glare doesn't account for the sheer width of the white spots that line the whole title.

Err, wait, no, nvm, jumping to conclusions. They do that cartoony black outline thing, so it actually is lighting.

I hope that you don't jump to any conclusions thinking these photos were photoshopped. All the captured pictures are a 100% legitimate and real. I wouldn't lie for no apparent reason, to your knowledge's extent that is. Happy

Photo's were taken with a Blackberry Pearl camera; which is at 1.3 mg pixels at a 1280x1024 resolution with no flash on.

Anyways, Dilemmakoi: Is it possible for you to go back and see if anything new popped up? That OR is the machine is even there anymore...(plus does the Blackberry Pearl take video? If so, see if you can take just a couple vids of gameplay and maybe a songlist as well...)

Thanks =)

Machine has been long gone since mid December. Last time I was there (December 25th) it was gone. Oddly that monstrous American Idol Booth was still there.

My Blackberry Pearl 8100 can't take video unfortunately; only those new 81xx series can. Sad

Pixels? Anything image file you take into Microsoft Paint is going to be shown in pixels.
QFT, i can basically take ANY picture and magnify it and it shows pixels, basically, ANYTHING under a screen is pixelated.

GH2 had yes we can, sung mostly in spanish, and probably others, its been a while since i played it. on the xbox it had 3 foreign DLC songs. it also has less talk more rokk. techno music in a rock guitar game isnt diversity?

GH3 had avalanchia and a few other foreign songs on disc, plus ernten was wer saen, antisocial, and something else i cant remember for DLC.

i cant remember what world tour had, but there are quite a few.

how the hell is there no diversity, and just classic rock? also, last time i checked, death magnetic just came out, therefore is NOT classic. it would help to form an opinion of the games if you actually played them.

as for rockband's drums, try painkiller, run to the hills, enter sandman, visions, everlong, and some of the other hard songs. dont sit there playing mississippi queen over and over going "LOL EASY!" because that song is.

no, i havnt, but that doesnt make the hardest songs in rock band "easy". its like someone saying megaman is hard, then asking if they played contra. sure, contra is harder, but it doesnt make megaman easy.

Rock Band / Guitar Hero certainly have no shortage of modern songs. To argue that they're limited to "American classics" is ignorant.

True, I imagine a few of the hardest ones would be fun to play (all though I really don't like visions and run to the hills) but knowing how to play drums for real, and playing drum mania alot really skews things.

But one thing I do hate about rock band drums, the drums themselves....incredibly stupid design...and one minute the red pad is a snare, and then BAM it's a cymbal!

yeah, thats my brothers biggest complaint too, as an actual drummer. after he learned to treat it as a rhythm game following a drum beat, he was able to have more fun with it. since i'm not a real drummer, it never bothered me, but i never got very good at the drums anyway, i only play on hard, and i cant go past tier 3 songs.

btw, i'm not saying anyone is wrong for not liking drums in rock band, i'm just saying the difficulty IS there. obviously fun is relative, and if the design bugs you i cant argue that there arent better drum games out there.

As I drummer, the only thing I actually dislike about the drums is that the pedal's a little too stiff for my liking.

And yes, the drums are probably the hardest aspect of RB. Detroit Rock City is an evil, evil beast.
