Looks to me that they're not going for a particular theme this time. Just pure DJ-ing as IIDX was meant to be.

yeah I kinda was expecting this version to go back to its original themes of being a DJ since its celebrating the anniversary of Beatmania.
I want to expect some sort of unlock events like what we got with Popn music peace.

Hmmm, IIDX Gene System? DNA? RNA? Biology stuff! Seems like maybe I wasn't TOO far off in guessing that this would have a medical theme because of the name RESIDENT.
Even the difficulty display mimics horizontal DNA strands (this can also be seen in the very bottom left corner of the screen during actual gameplay. Pretty cool! And look at the songlist: B.O.D.Y., anthracene, C-C-C-N-N-N, Programmed Genom, (and maybe Move UR Body just because it has "body" in its title, lol). These are all related to genetics and biology!
Anthracene is used in scintillation counter crystals and its chemical structure is depicted as a chain of 3 hexagons, kinda like the hexagon pattern in the RESIDENT font. C-C-C-N-N-N is...well...I've already gone off the rails enough as it is, oops lol. I used to be a medical lab tech for the USAF (microbiology, chemistry, transfusion services, virology, etc), I get excited about lab stuff
Heck, even Time Machine makes sense if they are going for a theme more along the lines of legacy and looking back at what has made Beatmania what it is over the years. Hoping for some more DJ/scratch/hip-hop oriented tracks!

I like the time machine idea for this Style, going back over the years and (hopefully) reviving old songs from long ago. I know they already did a "time" theme with PENDUAL, but that sounds like a perfect theme for the 25th anniversary.

I started on 9th. I also agree that's it's pretty surreal seeing IIDX reach the 30th version. I've been playing this game for little over 14 years now and I'm glad it's still here getting new content and versions including a new console release with Infinitas. And I hope it get's 30 more!

I started with Beatmania US (though I was aware of it since 7th/8th style?), and I'm glad we now have better versions of the game that everyone (near a Round1) can play, since 2006.
30 versions is pretty impressive, especially for an arcade game; not bad for a "Lame Guitar Hero Ripoff", don't ya think? ;)
