Hi there!
My name is Mikita and I'm a DDR/Stepmania enthusiast from Belarus.

Background
I'm fairly new to this stuff. Started dancing periodically when the pandemic hit last year. Even though I knew about DDR from school times when we had a DDR machine in an arcade in the central train station in Minsk. I tried it a few times back then but couldn't enjoy it much as it got worn down pretty quickly as it was the only machine in the city.
Since me and my wife decided to stay at home on self-isolation during the pandemic we decided that Stepmania could help keep us fit and entertained. Bought the soft matts from Aliexpress and started dancing. A year and a half and 4 pairs of pads later I've decided to create my own pack of Belarusian songs that I liked. It's nice to dance to the songs that you know. Besides it could be a nice way to share some good Belarusian music with the community.

About the Pack
- Theme: Popular songs by Belarusian artists of various genres.
- Quantity: I'm publishing the pack as I finally got to 10 songs. But my aim is to update it from time to time and add new songs. I'm already in the process of simfile creation for a nice art-rock 9 minute long song.
- Charts: Since I'm now confident at dancing on Hard difficulty most songs have charts only for this level. But maybe I'll add other difficulties as well later down the track. Especially if my friend (whom I'm trying to hook on Stepmania) will be enthusiastic about it. Or if the community requests it.
- Creation: I've been using Arrow Vortex to synch bmp, create charts, estimate difficulty and create simfiles. Used audacity to cut songs.
- Scale: The difficulty is in the Classic scale. At least I think it is Tongue

Songlist (10)
August - Intelligency / Hard 8
Chutkimi Dumkami - NaviBand / Hard 8
Da Vidna - Val (long song) / Hard 5
Hali gali, paratruper - Leprikoncy / Hard 9
Hmarki - Shuma / Hard 8
Miach - Brutto / Hard 6
Nebjaspechna - Nizkiz (long song) / Beginner 2 / Hard 7
Pavetrany Shar - N.R.M. / Hard 8
Serca Paustanca - Krambambula / Beginner 2 / Easy 3 / Hard 8
Supracleglyia - Uzari / Hard 7

Since this is my first experience of creating and sharing my simfiles with the community I would really like to receive any feedback that you might have. Any suggestions for improvements or requests for songs are also welcome!

Updates

3DS Friend Code: 1134-9915-6680
"c r e b"
first impression
interesting concept, i would do such a thing with brazilian songs but all the (popular) music here fucking sucks so no
don't use .jpg files for graphics, they're l o s s y
always use .png files instead, they're l o s s l e s s

applies to all files
- playtest your files, there's many many bad turns and doublesteps
- rhythm placements can be slightly off at times

August
+ chart is synced somewhat (offset is 4ms late)
- see what applies to all files

Chutkimi Dumkami
- chart is ever so slightly offsync due to song not being a constant tempo
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- rhythms don't follow the song
- see what applies to all files

Da Vidna
+ chart is synced somewhat (offset is 3ms late)
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- see what applies to all files

Hmarki
+ chart is synced somewhat (offset is 3ms late)
- buildup felt underwhelming
- see what applies to all files

Miach
- chart is ever so slightly offsync due to the song not being a constant tempo, though it's less of an issue compared to Chutkimi Dumkami
- i'd rather not start the steps so early on
- see what applies to all files

Nebjaspechna
+ chart is synced somewhat (offset is 3ms late)
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- see what applies to all files

Pavetrany Shar
- chart is very offsync
- i'd rather not start the steps so early on
- rhythms don't make sense, specially at the beginning
- see what applies to all files

Serca Paustanca
+ chart is synced somewhat (offset is 3ms late)
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- lmao what the fuck is this (m19)
- see what applies to all files

Hali-gali, paratruper
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- slightly offsync, BPM should be 144.000 and offset should be 0.057 (to make up for a shift that happens later in the song, place a BPM change to 150.000 for 0.75 beat at b263 (like this)
- see what applies to all files

Supraceglya
- i'd rather not start the steps immediately after the song starts
- chart is slightly offsync (offset is 17ms late)
- see what applies to all files

how can i fix this?
please read this (replace any instance of "mixmeister" with "arrowvortex")
and this
and this as well
and these four too
one | two | three | four (marking footswitches/intentional doublesteps with mines is heavily recommended)
based on the file offsets, i suppose you are using arrowvortex, which is a good thing
though don't forget that it is not always 100% accurate, you might have to tweak the BPM/offset after applying the autosync

you can also look at files made by our quality stepcharters
talkion - ian - marten - cuzco - t7r - chewi - ddrdaikenkai - daffa - verticai - led - vaneden - forcednature - quincy - tony

Wow, thank you so much TikalFan9000 for the detailed review and invaluable tips!
I see now that I have much cleaning up and learning to do but thank to you I know where to look exactly. Really appreciate it!
I originally hoped that I can manage it in a couple of days but after starting reading all the articles it seems that I might need more time to upskill and fix everything. And I though double stepping is fun Smile
