Can the 10th KAC still happen?

Big news: The new dates for the 10th KAC finals have just been announced.

That really depends on whether or not that new COVID variant becomes a problem, unfortunately. : (

I don't know what the current vaccination rate in Japan is, at the moment, but it took them a while to start, last time I checked.

At this point, I'd rather have them just cancel KAC entirely instead of giving us false hopes over and over.

We are pendent if the Omnicron variant attacks Japan. If this variant attacks before, the KAC can be cancelled.

They're already taking so many precautions by only allowing Japanese contestants, not allowing any spectators, and having it take place in a Konami-owned building rather than a regular convention space. If Omicron turns out to be the nightmare variant that bypasses our vaccines, I could see KAC getting delayed again, and so far that doesn't appear to be the case. It's still too early to tell, though, and anything can happen in the months between now and February.

Cases in Japan have dropped to almost nothing too since the sudden spike on August, according to Google. Seems promising.

●当日の補欠枠をなしとさせていただきます。
当日の出場者の他、補欠の候補者の方へご案内をさせていただいておりましたが、会場の人数を最小限にさせていただくため来場者を出場者のみに絞らせていただきます。


補欠枠をご案内させていただいた方々には来場をご案内させていただいたにも関わらず大変申し訳有りません。

For the safety of all participants in the 10th KONAMI Arcade Championship final round, we will implement the following measures and hold it.

● We will carry out a PCR test.
Athletes who come to the venue can only participate if they have a PCR test and the test result is negative.
Please refer to "Request for PCR test" on the participation contact form for the procedure of consultation.

● There will be no substitute frame on the day.
In addition to the attendees on the day of the event, we have been guiding to substitute candidates, but in order to minimize the number of people at the venue, we will limit the number of visitors to only the participants.
We are very sorry for the people who guided us to the substitute slots, even though we were able to guide them to the venue.

● Please leave the building when you have completed your participation opportunity.
