DDRDave's Pissing Contest + FEARMIX 2020

Don't be fooled by the name. This is a more laid-back contest hosted by none other than DDRDave (https://www.twitch.tv/ddrdave)! He is a fan of both my and Ben Speirs' files (and plenty others), which is why we know about it first, but we thought it would be cool if more people joined in on the fun as well!

OVERVIEW
DDRDave's Pissing Contest: Two songs will be picked each round, and participants will have the opportunity to step one or both songs. At the end of each round, all submissions will be played on-stream and voted on to determine two song winners as well as a round winner, who gets to choose one of the two songs for the next round!
FEARMIX 2020: Similar to DDRDave's Pissing Contest, except all participants are free to choose their own songs (but all songs must be Halloween-themed!).

PISSING CONTEST RULES
1. Two songs will be picked each round, one by Dave and one by the winner of the previous round (except for the first round, in which case Dave also picks the second song).
2. Each simfile maker will submit a simfile for one or both songs. You're not required to submit a simfile for both songs, but your chances of winning the round are reduced if you don't chart both songs.
3. Files will be submitted via Discord DM to Dave himself (daif#4201). If a simfile contains multiple charts, you must specify exactly ONE chart that will be eligible for voting.
4. After each submission deadline, all simfiles will be collected and the selected charts will be played on-stream.
5. The videos of each playthrough will be saved, and everyone will be asked to vote on their favorite chart for each song.
6. For each song, the simfile with the most votes will win that spot in the final contest pack. Any ties are first broken by whoever currently has fewer song wins, then by Dave's choice if necessary.
7. The simfile maker with the most total votes across both songs will win the round. Any ties are first broken by whoever currently has fewer round wins, then by Dave's choice if necessary.
8. The winner will then get the opportunity to choose one of the two songs for the next round!

FEARMIX CONTEST RULES
1. Each simfile maker can submit up to two simfiles per round, stepping any song of their own choosing. All songs, however, must be Halloween-themed!
2. Files will be submitted via Discord DM to Dave himself (daif#4201). If a simfile contains multiple charts, you must specify exactly ONE chart that will be eligible for voting.
3. After each submission deadline, all simfiles will be collected and the selected charts will be played on-stream.
4. The videos of each playthrough will be saved, and everyone will be asked to vote on their favorite chart for each song.
5. All submitted files will be included in the final FEARMIX pack unless the majority of participants agree if a file is of subpar quality.
6. The ONE simfile with the most votes will win the round. Any ties are first broken by whoever currently has fewer round wins, then by Dave's choice if necessary.

SIMFILE RULES
1. You must have at least 1 singles chart in any difficulty slot, but preferably or (doubles and other charts are also allowed but not required). If you are providing more than one singles chart, you must choose one to be judged for the contest.
2. Charts must be rated on the X-Scale (out of 20).
3. Songs must be cut to less than 2:30 in length.
4. Pad charts only, no keyboard charts.
5. Automatically generated steps are not allowed.
6. New simfiles only. If a song has already been locked in for the round, and you have already stepped that song, you may not participate in the contest for that song only.
7. Graphics (and music video, if applicable) are not required but are HIGHLY recommended. If you do not have graphics, someone else can provide them for you (most likely the previous round winner).

Yes! Endorsed! Whilst we've only ran one week so far as a test it's very fun to see how other step artists take on the same song, you get some really interesting results and get to see your stuff played LIVE so the more we have the merrier!

The community pack at the end of it all will be a real eclectic mix too!

This DDRdave guy sounds like a total egotistical prick.

I agree with Ben. It's very refreshing to chart these and see how others approach the songs. Also seeing them done live and having instant feedback from Dave and the community watching is amazing.

Round 3 results are in: the winner for best VAMPIRE chart is Ben Speirs, while the winner for best Rainbow Dream chart and the overall round 3 winner is . . . me. Huh. I personally liked my VAMPIRE chart more than my Rainbow Dream chart, but I am just one vote, after all.

Anyway, the songs for round 4 have been picked. Check the OP for the songs and updated schedule, and join the Discord if you want to download the skeletons!


Sorry I haven't been able update the thread lately, but the OP should be up-to-date now for the next round. Check it for the new songs and deadline, and join the Discord to always get the latest information!


Finally added info about the FEARMIX portion of the contest that is going on right now. Deadline for round 1 submissions is in a day or two, though (my bad), but there are plenty more rounds to go, so don't worry if you can't submit for the first round.
