I'm getting interested in DDR and trying to figure out the best way to work it into my setup - hoping you folks can help me out!
I'm planning to use a Wii, mostly because of the 4 player support so I can play with my kids (and so they can play Mario Kart). Are there 4 player modes on the Ultramix games that are worthwhile compared to the Wii ones? (For that matter, I know the PS2 games are 2 player only, but any interesting unique multiplayer modes there that I wouldn't get from Stepmania?)
The rest of my setup is a UHD player and an LG B7. I have a soundbar at the moment as well, but it only has HDMI inputs so it sounds like I may be better off with a receiver. I'd want Dolby Vision passthrough (which limits me to stuff from the last 5 years) and unfortunately the B7 does not have component input.
I'm not expecting to set records, but I do want the lag to be low enough that it's fun, and my impression is that will probably not be the case if I just plug composite (or even HDMI) right into the TV. My other options as I can figure them are:
-Composite video to TV, audio to receiver
-Component audio and video to receiver, HDMI from receiver to TV
-Sewell HDMI adapter to receiver
-WiiDual HDMI mod to receiver
Would sending the audio through HDMI instead of analog introduce delay? Or I suppose it may be possible to just run the video through HDMI with either solution. If the audio is lag free, does video lag at the levels I'd be looking at here really matter? If so, would it be worth it to run the video signal through something like an OSSC and/or a 4K upscaler? (I was hoping the Ultramix games had 720p support for integer scaling to 4K, but it doesn't look like they do.) I'm less concerned about how it looks graphically than I am about playability.
