Looks like DDR is getting into the "V" trend like Sound Voltex did.

"It's a rectangular cuboid!" |
It seems to work fine in Firefox. Chrome just gives me a black screen. Maybe it's add-ons, I don't know. It also ran smoothly on my computer, though with a GeForce GTX 1080 it should be smooth.
The timing appears to be way more on-sync than Pump It Up H5. However, it's kind of hard to tell with the extremely wide Marvelous window. That's also not much of an accomplishment, as H5 was a mess in general.
It's interesting that it has a controller option (wrench -> first option). Using a Wii dance mat connected to my 8BitDo GameCube adapter, it detected the arrows as joystick axises, so no Left+Right or Up+Down jumps, which is far from perfect. Of course, I didn't expect the game to know how a specific adapter works, but I also didn't expect the option to even be there in the first place.
It's not a bad version of the game considering this is only an alpha test. If they tightened the timing windows to at least something comparable to the old home releases, added speed mods and other options, had the announcers talk a lot less and/or have an announcer off option, and fixed that "lag settings break tempo changes" issue, this could be a decent free version of DDR. Even if I would prefer an actual PC release, there is potential here.

Thanks for the tip. Firefox worked close to perfectly. There was some very slight stuttering every once in a while, but nothing compared to the near unplayable mess of how it was operating on chrome. With it working better, I am definitely pleased. I can wait for them to update it more.

I wonder if it’s ever going to be actually on PC or just browser based.

So the arrows can be moved with the timing adjustment but the bpm changes are tied to the audio. Makes for some pretty funny plays on neutrino and cozy catastrophe if you adjust it past like 2 seconds
oh my god LOL
Amazing. However the unique problem is the announcer, it's so annoying that it doesn't let you hear the song.

After spending some time with it here are my thoughts.
-For it being in the alpha phases I am optimistic. If this was how the final product was it would be a huge let down to me.
- I'm running a top end machine with everything in 4k, The fonts, arrows, etc are crisp but the background video is blurry. I have better results with backgrounds being up-scaled in step mania
-Announcer is seriously annoying. I wanted to stop playing after a few songs because i felt like it was announcer announcer revolution.
-Timing was definitely very forgiving. but I wonder if its going to be lose because it is browser based.
I hope the final product is much more polished and also not browser based... I feel like that limits the game alot.

Chances are that the full release will see itself either as a full-on console release (like the good ol' days) or as an e-amusement subscription based game similar to that of INFINITAS and GRAVITY WARS CS. And since it's only the alpha release for now, polishing is most likely gonna be a major focus in the future.

One can dream of a console release but I highly doubt it. Subscription based or it staying browser based is highly likely.

Be sure to check if you have the hardware acceleration turned on in browser to be able to play this correctly. Works perfectly fine in Chrome.
Tested - works good, dance pad support is correct. Well and that's pretty much it as there is not much to tinker with in this.

Especially at a time when games like Just Dance are dominating the current console generation.
So I tried opening the app using Opera on macOS, but it gave me a black screen, so I switched to Chrome and it worked fine.

"I know how the Owl dance..." |
For it being at Alpha Stage, I must say that is a good product and it makes me very hopeful for the full release.
Props:
-Music Select Screen, the simplistic UI looks good with fast response.
-At least for me, in Chrome, it was fast and responsive
-Great selection of songs for this alpha demo.
Cons:
-Annoying as f the Announcer. I barely could hear the song
-Quality of graphic in the game-play was lacking by a lot. Not fond of the Balls Life bar.
-No option for gameplay
The timing is VERY forgiving, they could adjust it. But I can imagine that due to the lag between the web browser and keyboard, they decide to extend the judgment of steps to be more forgiving.
Anyway, it was a extremely good surprise to see Konami expanding the DDR game to other platforms (I was predicting first the Smartphone game), so good for them!

Actually my notebook it’s too low of that kind of WebGL/HTML5 and that stuff on Chrome, Firefox, even with Edge... however, i recently just installed Opera GX, and wow, it’s a kind of miracle, that “game-dedicated-browser” practically surpass all the laggy and graphics issues.

Anyone wonder what the "V" would stand for? I don't think even the official website gave any explanation on what the "V" means, or am I just overlooking something? My guess is "Virtual" because of the online nature of the game. Or it could stand for "Vivid" because the V's pink just like in SDVX Vivid Wave lol.

look at the url for the website, it's vic (possibly as in vic viper due to the partially aerial theme of Ace)

You sure about that? I don't think it requires that much space in the hard drive to store the game files.

In other Konaste games, the req. of 40 GB are due to videos with overlays or miss overlays in IIDX and due to BG layers in SOUND VOLTEX III (PC)
