"I do DDR things sometimes"
I don't believe there's a challenge chart in Noctilucence, unless you meant the expert chart lol

First, I laugh when saw the charts. I mean, yeah Jacks... Jack attacks. Lol. But when I play it somehow its good and fun enough. But well... Im not fan of Jacks. But still, this is good charts and fits on leveling. Maybe if there is more level for jacks, this gonna be amazing Jacks

My file doesn't have any jacks... wat

As always, the night (and afternoon) is still young, so you've still got all evening to spend your current staycation/lockdown submitting your songs and votes for this week. After that will be the last vote of the first phase, which is also a bye week so we can count everything up and determine who gets to move forward.
Sounds exciting I know.

Since the week's almost over, I'll post my feedback:

CAN'T DANCE (chewi)
- Good sync
- Audio is slightly blown out?
- This may be the first time I've seen footswitches this slow lol
- Nice patterning symmetry and attention to detail
- Mini jacks work well
- Nice patterning makes chart distinctive despite being easy

Candyman (VanEden)
- Sync is slightly early?
- 75 to 150 transition felt a little jarring
- Good patterning attentiveness, goes with vocals well
- A few places where jumps would've matched better than 8th streams
- 24th burst is an odd spike in difficulty
- Vocals at the end feel too weak to chart, freezes may have matched better

Catch Our Fire (STARDOM Remix) (Mr. Music)
- Good sync
- Patterning feels like it could match the music a little more at times, e.g. second half of m7 could've changed direction of staircase to match shift in melody. However, patterning itself is generally quite enjoyable
- Similar thoughts on rhythms; there were places where the kicks were more prominent than the chanting and yet the chanting was charted instead
- Some missed opportunities for 16ths in the middle
- Generally great flow

CHAMELEON (TonyAkita)
- I'll ignore sync issues because of the mp3/ogg thing
- m27 seems a bit weird
- Unclear reason to use spins
- Good flow, generally good patterning
- Slowdown actually works pretty well
- Missing a 'wow' factor; cool patterning bits here and there though

Confession (darkanine)
- Good sync
- Nice gallops and freezes in the beginning
- Interesting gimmicks
- Enjoyable patterning; 16ths on the same foot might be a pain though
- 32nds feel like too much of a spike in difficulty for a 14
- Mines don't feel like they go to enough in the song to exist

Do What You Want (t7r)
- Good sync
- Clean patterning; goes to the song very well
- Feels like you held back on the difficulty a bit, like this could've easily been a 15 or 16 if you filled in the rhythms completely
- Excellent flow except for entry into jump at m49 and 16ths in m62
- I like the sneaky spin near the end

Dui Bu Qi, Zhi Shi Hu Ran Hen Xiang Ni (K-Step)
- Good sync
- Clean patterning, goes to the song well
- Doesn't stand out to me particularly
- 16ths add an interesting flair to the song

Half as Much (Braeden47)
- Good sync
- Weird place to start the chart
- 24ths feel overdone - they should just be 16ths
- What's the point of the slowdowns?
- Flows, but feels a bit weird at times (no change in direction)
- Some 16ths don't go to anything
- Interesting use of freezes to mark speed changes
- Abrupt cut

I AM THE BEST (ledgamer)
- Good sync
- Mine use at m30 is inconsistent with how other mines play out
- Gimmick use is appropriate, accents the song well
- Sensible patterning

Infection (Pandy)
- Good sync
- Nice use of anchors and crossovers in the first half to go with the melody
- Streams are quite the difficulty spike
- Good patterning and flow

Inferno (HDM300)
- Good sync
- 8ths would've suited the beginning better
- Gimmicks match the song nicely
- 12 seems more apt; lack of extended streams and 16th bursts aren't flanked with anything hard

IT'S A SMALL WORLD (Ducking Hardcore MIX) (ForcedNature)
- Good sync
- Nice use of crossovers and jumps to match the energy of the song, although some of the freezes felt a bit off
- 15 imo
- ...Interesting remix
- Props to charting full SP and DP difficulties

Jaguar ningen no junan (PenTA_)
- Good sync
- Bits like the LDRU jump RDLU patterns are crafty but not really clear which foot is correct or not
- m49 ambiguous entry
- Good use of footswitches
- Mines or some form of notation may have helped with the above three points
- Difficulty curve feels a bit frontloaded with not enough differentiation patterning wise in the latter half vs first half; I think the first half could've been toned down a little bit. Not every part of the song needed to be super scooby heavy
- I live for technical shit

Knockout (EmeraldX)
- A little late?
- Stepjumps are enjoyable and match the beat
- Good patterning and rhythms; I would've gone with something similar
- Feels like it's too long; I would've used a shorter cut to avoid the chart feeling like it drags

Laughin' Muffin (vonafroa)
- Good sync
- I would generally avoid movements from up to down after a jump like in m6 and m46 (UR jump to down) unless they're telegraphed and it's intentional; putting the right foot to down is the more intuitive movement there
- I would've personally went with blue note syndrome and had the song speed up to 182 right after the stop
- Jumps accent the samples well
- Nice flow for the most part
- I would've toned down the middle section, since as is that's like the hardest part of the song besides the stream at the end

Mou Ichido Luminous (clanner99)
- Good sync
- I meant to mention this to you before, but 'doublesteps' (flow that doesn't completely involve alternating your feet) aren't necessarily a bad thing - they just need to have intent and a clear pattern to them. I believe this is the style you refer to as 'Manual.'
- Thus, my issue was that the doublesteps in your charts didn't seem to follow a clear pattern, tendency, or intent.
- I liked this chart quite a bit more than your Week 1 submission. The rhythms were better and the patterning seemed a little more deliberate
- The run at m61 is very rude imo. An unfair spike in difficulty. It's too fast to feasibly doublestep and so it forces you to move uncomfortably for a Lv15 chart

Night Drive (shorty)
- Good sync
- Nice flow and patterning! I like the inclusion of jacks to build difficulty. But I would've liked to see things like crossovers as well to help build the difficulty even more, especially in the end
- Good freeze section
- ESP is easily a 12 imo, if not 13 due to the sustained 16th runs

Noctilucence (KexMiX)
- Good sync
- Interesting choice to not include jumps in any of the chart, but the chart actually feels just as natural without them
- Natural patterning
- Good use of freezes to accent synths
- Not sure why you transitioned from 16ths to 8ths midway through the first synth section
- Tricky but accurate rhythms
- Would've liked to see some more candles or crossovers near the end to build up the difficulty progression, but personal bias
- Props for charting full SP and DP difficulties

Open Your Heart (Nezemarth)
- Sync feels alright
- Good flow
- Good patterning, but nothing that stands out to me that much
- Feels like it blends in a bit with the other '11-13 to old pop music' files I've seen
- Props for charting full SP and DP difficulties

Physical (ohaiimian)
- Good sync
- Very smooth patterning
- Imo a 12; the 8th runs are too complex and frequent
- Cut is a little long, that paired with the lack of variety in patterning makes the chart feels like it drags a bit. Still, good chart

Prove Your Love (Random)
- Good sync
- Good use of 16ths and freezes, adds some character to the chart
- More memorable than your previous submissions
- Doublestep at m15
- Like I said in Laughin' Muffin, when following up a corner jump with another down/up arrow it's more intuitive for the arrow on left/right to follow it, so keep that in mind when working with jump flow (see m19-20 transition)
- Generally enjoyable patterning and flow, good job
- File should've ended at m55 or so; this ending feels weird like night of knights ESP
- 12 imo, not 11

Run The Night (SupremeX)
- Late sync
- Weird place to start the chart
- Flow breaks here and there that feel unintentional
- Focus of the chart feels unclear
- Lack of charting of anything other than the vocals feels like a missed opportunity for patterning like gallops

SEITEN NO TERIYAKI (Oni-91)
- Thanks for starting the file at a reasonable spot this time lol
- An 18 from Oni is rather unexpected
- This is weird to say, but there are quite a few spots I think some tasteful gimmicks would've made better (e.g. m25-27)
- I said this in the feedback of Laughin' Muffin as well, but when implementing patterning like m45's DR jump -> U it's generally more intuitive for the foot on R to go to U, so be careful
- Doublestep on m65
- I like the small lateral on m75-76 resolved through jumps
- Tbh I think this might actually be a 17, but it would be hard to say without having played it on pad
- Chart has lots of personality

Time (gameboy573)
- Good sync
- Clean charting, flows great for the most part and patterning makes sense
- 13 imo
- Flow break at m27
- I would've liked to see the patterning near the end actually follow the swing rhythm

Touch the Sky (tokiwa Remix)
- Sync is a little early?
- Freeform patterning works to the chart's favor; very enjoyable
- Extremely Ace-era DDR-esque in a good way
- Subjectively not a huge fan of the karaoke stepping, but the patterning is good so I don't care
- Excellent crossovers and 16ths during the drop
- Some 16ths felt weird towards the end

WWW (brunobg)
- Very slightly early?
- Crossover stepjumps are awesome; they match the vocals well
- Good rhythms, I appreciate that you implemented 24ths
- Solid, but the chart drags a bit towards the end mainly due to the lack of difficulty buildup and repetition of patterns
- Bits like 16th gallop at m48 should be 24th?

Like last week, I'd like to request feedback for Particle Arts and Meow (next week's file).

I'd still say this is anyone's game, with how close it is near the cut off it would just take one good result to get your foot in the door for the next phase! Remember - this week we are only voting on Week 3 to determine the final score. After that submissions will resume with Week 4 for everyone who survives. Good luck to everyone!

I source my audio from lossless/archival quality when possible, you could be mistaking that for a blow out. Understandable when some people still use YouTube ripped mp3s in 2020.
