Simply Love casual mode tweaks

First of all, big thank you to dbk2. Without his guides and all the comments he added to his theme i would've been lost trying to figure lua out. I've made some additions to the casual mode for simply love that i'd like to share. Instead of using the casual stats it writes straight to itg mode stats and uses itg timing/life windows. This is meant for people playing by themselves at home mostly.

DISCLAIMER: Right now this only works for player one on Simply Love 4.8.5. Playing with two people will probably be buggy and playing with just player2 won't work. I also haven't tested any game that's not 4 arrow, doubles mode, marathon mode, anything involving coins/timers/limited number of songs to play, or resolutions that are not mine. I also haven't tested loading times with song libraries greater than 3000. There are bugs to work out as well so it's far from complete

This works best with a start and select button and dedicated menu buttons. You can probably mostly get by with pad arrows and start button though.

Once i upload it, i'd be grateful if anyone can provide feedback/critique/suggestions on what to add next.

TLDR: tweaked Simply Love casual mode. Added tagging/filtering and adjusted how some things look

Screen select music. The grid with song block difficulties seemed like a waste of space to me so i added in a bunch of stream information - peak notes per second, average notes per second, total stream measures (for long stamina songs where breakdowns are kinda useless) and then a self generated breakdown of stream. I've tried comparing it to what people are putting manually and it's pretty close, sometimes off a bit. This probably isn't as useful for FA players and i added an option to switch back to song blocks if you want.



Screen select music - a default tag is created for songs with bpm changes.


Songs can have tags now which are filterable/sortable. I envision it being useful for tagging something like "crossovers" on songs that have them and then filtering it so i don't have to play any of them lol. Or as a simple favorites group without having to manually adjust preferred groups. Songs can have multiple tags so you could make a tag for each version of ddr and then have that song show up each group. Caveat, since i use the actual group to keep track of what to tag, if there are two songs with the exact same name in the same group i'm not sure what will happen.

Adding a tag - songs can have custom made tags, you can also create tags straight from here if you have a keyboard. In the select music screen above you can see that the song has been added to "Jordan's Favorites"


Group select - gives some probably useless information about the group


Filters - you can filter out a number of different things


Selecting a song with filters active - charts that don't meet the criteria are greyed out


Group select - with filters. Only charts that pass the criteria will show up in the bar graph. However, all charts are still selectable


Evaluation screen 1 - shows a comparison to your current high score or your previous high score if latest is higher


Evaluation screen 2 - shows percent of each type of note. Then shows the score lost due to that note type. And finally shows the score you would have gotten if all of that note type were fantastic instead


Evaluation screen 3 - normal simply love stuff shoved together


Evaluation screen 4 - need suggestions on what to add here lol. That other simply love screen with the graph of your timing is still there as well, i just haven't added anything to it - also need suggestions on what to add.


Before starting a song an options menu will show up like in the old simply love casual mode.

Option pane - song background - i like looking at song backgrounds but they get covered up in gameplay so i look at them here


Options pane - BPM helper - shows the equivalent speeds if the notes were 16ths. For me when i know how fast i can play 16th note streams but not 12th or 24ths so i added this in


Options pane - Songs played today - this is a graph of the songs played today with their difficulty and score. In the pic you can see that i've played three songs - a 12, a 13, and a 15. I got 90ish percent on the first song which i also passed (green dot) and then like 15% or so on the next two songs which i failed (red dot)


Sorting by tag


Sort by difficulty - all songs that have at least one chart with the correct difficulty will be thrown in to the group


Sort by grade - songs will move around in groups as their grades change

added couple new features:

kind of working 2 player support.
ability to change order of songs from within sort group: alphabetical, bpm, difficulty/bpm
search function (won't work without access to a keyboard)

Holy crap this is amazing. I needed this. I thought the casual mode in Simply Love was super neat but I never knew I needed something like THIS.
Edit: After testing, nothing shows up on the results screen, and total evaluation screen. After the total evaluation screen, a screen appears with the background you have selected, and nothing else. Not even a USB profile icon.
