The Ace Of Arrows Release Thread

Some of you might know me. I'm that guy who used to go by "Ace Of Hearts." Yeah, I still play, and I still write charts. Isn't that something else? In over 10 years and 250+ simfiles, I've gone from "hey look, I can overplace hands and rolls!" to a refined charting style that I'd hope is pretty pleasing at this point (I better have learned something in 10 years; it took 14 packs to move on from using Microsoft WordArt to bothering to learn how to PhotoShop, but I eventually did it, so I guess that's something, if nothing else).

If you remember me and haven't seen me in like a million years, you probably left off somewhere around Volume 9 or 10; you've got some catching up to do.

In 2018, all of my older packs (1-13) have been given entirely new banners, and resyncs everywhere they were necessary. It was a long and arduous project, but it was great to make sure all of my older material looked as good as it could and is as playable as possible!

So yeah, here's everything I've got to date, in descending order from today back to the very beginning.

You can pick up my simfiles from their category pages here on Zenius (that's where the packs' individual links go), though I do recommend visiting my website, Ace Of Arrows Simfiles, to ensure you get everything I'd intended to include. (My website offers your choice of links to Mega, Google Drive, MediaFire, or here.)

Great to see you back! I was working on enhancing your StepMania packages somewhat recently, and was going to quit. With you back I think I will continue after all. Here is what I have so far: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dtphlvzhubfo34v/AABIxPrNPECKldLyBlINq8nLa?dl=0

I'm happy you're a fan of my work, but honestly I'm not that concerned about whatever pack enhancements you did. (Maybe I would be if I hadn't already done my own enhancement project. :p) I'd say at this point you probably have nothing you need to worry about, since I'm pretty sure I probably took care of everything I'm guessing you were likely working on (new bn/bg and resync).

I see you also have a... really old version of my PrismRhythm theme. 13 is pretty archaic at this point. XD I've been working on that as well, and it's up to version 15 now. Some of the older versions were ugly as heck and I am so happy that I went through and updated as many elements as I have in the last year or two. I still don't know why I originally thought the fabric texture I used on literally every element was a great idea (it wasn't).

Did you upgrade the videos? Take a look at the DropBox. I upgraded to higher resolution videos. For the Disney Afternoon theme songs I used higher quality Oggs.

The reason I originally used lower-resolution videos was to ensure ITG2 machines wouldn't lag if my packs were placed on machines (since I'd seen horrible lag problems before). I left them that way just in case. (Trust me, I've known for many a year that if I wanted to, I could in MANY cases use at least 720p videos if I was only concerned with SM5 players.)

Honestly I was scared you were going to tell me you upgraded something I'd actually want upgraded that could use it, because I just got done last night doing a metric ton of uploading, and better oggs for the Disney songs are something I'd definitely want. Now I'm torn because on one hand things are done and acceptable, but on the other, there are improvements that can be made.

The main issue isn't upgrading on Zenius - that's easy. The issue isn't even the thought of upgrading, or that someone else produced the upgrade, those are both "it's cool when I find a reason to upgrade, and if someone is offering help, that's cool" to me. The main issue for me is that if I change one thing, I have to reupload the entire pack to 3 places for my website. That's the part that makes me Shocked every time I think about upgrading anything.

So like, it isn't "don't tell me you can help me with stuff because I don't want help with stuff," it's "if I'm told there are bunches of offerings, and I decide I want them, I'm going to have to take a lot of time out from streaming and doing other things to accommodate the fact that upgrades are happening until they're done." I'm the sort of person who usually focuses until things are done, so even though now would technically be great since I just released Volume 16 (to push upgrades within a reasonable time of release), it's also terrible timing for the same reason because I'd love to do things that aren't simfile work. XD

I know I'm talking a lot, I know, but I don't want you to think I dislike you or your offerings in general; quite the opposite, I'm hoping you can understand the mindset I've got at the moment. I don't want to get caught up in a lot of little nitpicks since that sort of thing always feels like it's never going to end. I'd much rather that the current iteration of my packs act as the base, and honestly, for example, even though I spend a fair amount of time syncing my files, if a pro at it like Mute wanted to offer to ensure perfect sync for every song in all my packs, I'd reupload them all just for that - the difference being that it isn't an ever-changing setlist of nitpicking, but rather a defined project that has a definite endgoal. When it's done, it's done, and there aren't 15 other things that were suddenly found that could be added.

I don't think I really want to go upgrading videos at this time for the reasons stated above.

However, I would be open to discussion regarding:
> upgrading audio
> a professional resync by someone like Mute

As it shows below my avatar, I'm on Discord if you'd like to be in more ready contact about any upgrades you want to do; feel free to shoot me a friend request!

As I said, I just don't want to become immediately involved in a bunch more uploading right this very moment. I want a bit of a break from working on and uploading simfiles. Tongue

I never really was in the habit of picking well-known characters as my mascots. XD In fact, my 2018 PhotoShop banners changed who was present on a lot of my banners in general, so it's no longer even consistent. My Volume 16 banner depicts the four who were actually originally used most consistently; from left to right:
> Ia (generation 3 Vocaloid, and my most recent mascot before I used Makoto)
> Makoto Kikuchi (the current primary face of my stream and packs)
> Lisa Sakakino (from the anime eX-Driver, the first mascot I ever used)
> Lia Berlioz (from the visual novel PrismRhythm; my second mascot, and the game upon which I based the graphical theme I made)

So what about the characters from the previous volumes? I have never heard of these & it makes me confused for a OC...

I was unaware someone would want a full bibliography for the characters appearing in my banners.

So between what I remember and doing some research, here's what I can tell you about who's in each banner:

Volume 1 & 2 was initially the Lisa Sakakino mascot era. She's one of the two main characters of the anime "eX-Driver." This did not change from the old-version banners to the new-version banners, and in fact I used the same exact pictures for the new versions.

Volumes 3 to 5 never had a pre-designated mascot, and was basically the mascot-less era.
> Volume 3: Mio Akiyama (Anime, "K-On!"), firing a Moe Moe Kyun Beam. Evidently this was drawn by someone as part of the meme's craze.
> Volume 4: Heart Aino (Game, "Arcana Heart").
> Volume 5: Ai Towano (Game, "Cherry Tree High: I! My! Girls!")

Volumes 6 to 10 was initially the PrismRhythm era, and I had first used Lia Berlioz (one of the main route girls) from that visual novel for all of the original banners from this era of my career. All of those banners have since changed, and Lia actually makes no appearances in the new banners despite having had 6 chances to do so. Other characters replaced her for the new 2018-version banners. Regarding the current (new) banners:
> Volume 6: Ranko Honjo (Anime, "My First Girlfriend is a Gal").
> Volume 7: This seems to be a generic anime girl wallpaper from what I can discern. She doesn't seem to have a name.
> Volume 8: Umiko Ahagon (Anime, "New Game!").
> Volume 9: Some sources say this is Len Kagamine, but I don't know if I buy that; don't know if I'd say this image is similar enough to him.
> Volume 10: Ryoko Okami (Anime, "Okami-San and her Seven Companions").

Volumes 11 to 13 were initially the Ia mascot era, Ia being a gen-3 Vocaloid. Similar to the Lia Berlioz era, Ia actually makes no appearances in my current banners. Again, these pertain to the current (new) banners:
> Volume 11: This seems to be a unique wallpaper; the girl doesn't seem to have a name. I chose the picture merely because she's got angel wings, as the original Volume 11 banner had Ia with angel wings.
> Volume 12: The Cho idol sisters - Choukaku, Chouhou, and Chouryou (Visual Novel/Anime, "Shin Koihime Musou").
> Volume 13: This also seems to be a generic anime girl wallpaper from what I can discern. Again chosen for the angel wings.

Volumes 14 to 16 were made after I started streaming on Twitch and using Makoto Kikuchi as my avatar there, but she doesn't actually appear in any of my pack banners. I mostly started moving away from having a designated pack era mascot at this point. The girls appearing in these banners should, I suppose, be more obvious than the others, but I'll point them out anyway.
> Volume 14: Neptune (Anime, "Hyperdimension Neptunia").
> Volume 15: Kuroshio (Game, "Kantai Collection").
> Volume 16: All four of my old primary mascots as described in my previous post.

So of the several primary mascots I've used over the years, only 1 actually still appears in any of my pack banners (Lisa Sakakino). Perhaps Volume 17 (if/when it happens) will actually feature Makoto (for the reasons outlined above), maybe not, I don't know. Naturally hard to say for sure at this point.

Your question was a bit vague, but hopefully I was able to answer it.
