The unique games which are still surviving in consoles are Taiko no Tatsujin and Just Dance.

I'm not sure if you can call Just Dance unique because of it being an overrated rhythm game that is too easy and not most but all of their songs are popular songs.

Konami is NEVER bringing rhythm games to the console market ever again. They won't turn a profit. Are they even making money off their arcade rhythm games?

Considering the high turnover rates of IIDX, jubeat, GITDADORA being yearly releases, and the popularity of DRS, and SDVX yes they are. Plus they’re all subscription based services now the machines are cheaper for the operators but require paying Konami constantly to keep their games running on e-amusement.

I’m sure Konami has to be making some sort of profit if they are pushing arcades out so frequently. I believe that if they created a digital game that had paid updates and dlc to coincide with the arcade releases the could turn a profit on it. They won’t ever do that but at least we have Stepmania 😁

It's what you believe, but the last just dance (just dance 2019) had good sales. In nintendo switch, the game is among the best sellers.
The same for XBOX one which is best console to play the game. Now It's celebrating it 10th anniversary, and It has been announced Just Dance 2020 recently. If it was wrong or overrated, they would not continue to take it out.
And Just Dance is not easy at all.

And Taiko no Tatsujin idk really but it could happen almost the same than Just Dance.

"Are they even making money off their arcade rhythm games?" Is that a serious question? Tell that to the current number of versions currently out for various Bemani titles. If AC bemani weren't making money, all these games would have been cancelled ages ago. Yes they're making a fair amount of money. Laughing Out Loud Annoyed And CS never made money due to the sheer amount of arcade bemani games in Japanese game centers, there was no need to play at home in Japan when arcades had the latest and greatest all the time and still do and far surpass CS in terms of content. CS Bemani failed in the west because it was so niche here, not enough marketing and not to mention bad american music and such. AC bemani is making a decent killing in Japan, that's not even a question that needs to be asked considering how many versions the current line up is in right now. IIDX is on it's 26th with Rootage celebrating it's 20th Anniversary, Jubeat on it's 9th version, SDVX on it's 5th, and Pop'n on it's 25th version. GF&DM I don't follow much anymore but it's above 10 versions now with Gitadora going strong.

I seem to recall seeing something saying that arcade games make up very little of the profit Konami makes, with the majority of it being pachinko, mobile games and their health club things.

Plus, we should all be honest here, only the most dedicated are gonna buy a peripheral-based home platform game in 2019. Especially when Stepmania has been so ingrained as the go-to response to "how do i play didder at home" for a decade now. Console releases just wouldn't do that great and would almost certainly result in a loss.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

Quick man considering the amount of versions some long running series have and how much work and effort they put into them, they have to be making some form of good profit margin. I don't think they would waste their time and effort if it wasn't profitable at all. And Asking if arcade bemani makes any money with so many factors into that they do indeed make money is kinda dumb.

If it's so, the music games should have more resounding changes and not just color changes. cof cof DDR A20*. Each Bemani game have a purpose and if we don't see big changes is due to theses games win low and/or realize new versions with low purpose with low changes.

There's a reason Just Dance is like, the only console rhythm game that's still coming out in 2019 with a mainstream audience lmao. The genre just kinda fell out of normie popularity around the 360 and PS3 era.

Futhermore, Just Dance had never the necesity to change at all like DDR and others music games. Just Dance focus in songs and choreographies only, using videos.
Just Dance sends it's game in the majority of consoles and mobile.......until now in nintendo wii.

If arcade BEMANI is still as popular as Jjeff says, why has Konami killed off three series in the past three years (and REFLEC BEAT being on extended life support)? Why has Konami rolled out location tests for two more arcade games that never saw the light of day? Why are updates to several of their longest running titles now barely monthly outside of DANCERUSH, GITADORA and pop'n music? Why is DDR A20 STILL Japan-only, and why has Konami said absolutely nothing about a release for the rest of Asia, much like outside of it?

Also nice to know people are still dissing the US DDR games for "bad music" so many years later. Which honestly look pretty wonderful now after HinaBitter, Vocaloid, and the terrible covers in SuperNOVA 1/2 (what's up, I'll Make Love To You and My Favourite Things?),

The only way Konami is ever going to do non-DRM, PASELI-laden console games again is if they outsource them to the lowest common denominator, like when Konami outsoruced Utacchi and pop'n music portable 1 to Hudson (before they fully bought them out), and Natsume for portable 2.

Because not everything will click with players. If you're talking about Dance Evo, Museca, and BeatStream all three were incredibly unpopular. Dance Evo was living off of crossovers, the main choreographer Dai left the company, and most importantly the critical hardware for Dance Evo, the Kinect sensor was discontinued. MUSECA was just a bad game all around. Had some great bangers but the gameplay was just uninspired, luckily cabs can be converted to BISHIBASHI CHANNEL. BeatStream was just as unremarkable as MUSECA the game's existence felt unnecessary especially when many other BEMANI games feature anime themes already. Luckily BeatStream cabs can be converted to Nostalgia.

That's the purpose of the location tests, to see if the game will click or not. Releasing new arcade games is a costly endeavor because they require R&D as well as hardware design. When they tested Otoiroha and the audience was meh, then it's a sign that maybe they shouldn't waste further time and money with it.

Have you ever tried to actually spend money keeping up with current BEMANI games? Even trying to keep up with 2 games is very expensive. You make it sound like slow roll outs are a sign of decline but in reality it's the opposite. These games are designed to suck money out of players by the GRIND required to unlock songs during events. They all also have one thing in common, if you miss the period of unlocking you're OOL until they give you another chance to grind for them or wait until they get permanently unlocked.

I don't know and I don't follow much DDR. It may be endemic to the rather weaker popularity of the game perhaps with Asian players?

Music is all subjective so. . . I personally like some HinaBitter songs like 激アツ☆マジヤバ☆チアガール, 3 A.M. ディテクティブ・ゲーム, or 今夜はパジャマパーティ. Vocaloid again I like some songs it's all subjective you can't just group them collectively as bad because you either don't understand their popularity in Japan where these games are catered to.

They won't do that. You'll never see another music game from them for consoles ever again period. e-Amusement will be a standard, games as a service is now their go to standard now.
