"SOUND VOLTEX -BOOTH-" |
Haven't been posting on the site for a while, and felt like I wanted to try and make simfiles again. Can I sign up? (I have votes for Week 1 files also, will be sending them soon if I'm cleared to go)

Light The Fire Up In The Night - Shoji Meguro
Ratings | 2 | 5 | 6 | 8 _________ X-Scale | 3 | 7 | 9 | 12
(Been a while, hasn't it?)
This main battle theme from Persona Q has two versions: the "Dark Hour" style and "Midnight Channel" style. For this chart, I combined the two versions to create a single cut. I haven't played any Persona games before, but I've been listening to the soundtracks a whole lot recently. The qualifying word for this song is Up.

It's nice to be able to do stuff here after lurking for a long period of time. This is what happens when you literally do a search for music files you have with the qualifying words. I ended up choosing this one.

First, a tiny celebration for my 100th post.
*fweeeeet*
...Okay, back to our regular scheduled program.
From the album IRREGULAR NATION 4.
I really wanted to join Team Left, but I couldn't find anything good in my library that fit the bill. Oh well.

A classic from the 90's. I'm a sucker for happy hardcore and NRG.

COMPATIBLE ONLY WITH SM5, DUE TO USAGE OF #SPEEDS & #SCROLLS
Hands Up / Lagoona

Old DDR/ITG scale: 1 4 6 8 9
X-scale: 1 5 10 12 13

I wanted to try my hand at implementing not necessarily abrupt slowdowns/speedups...but gradually transitioning slowdowns & speedups.

I've wanted to step this song for a long time! There's finally been an excuse to do it! Sadly I was unable to cut the Music video, maybe at a later time.

Upbeat Island (feat. Sebass87 and Hex g27629) | MantisBoi
1 | 3 | 6 | 9
(Suggested X-scale ratings: 2 | 4 | 9 | 14)
Originally I had thought about perhaps doing "Party You Up" by kors k or "UPBEAT" from Pop'n Music, but realizing I already had a simfile of the latter, I thought of the word "upbeat" and another song with that word in its title that would work well for the theme...
I want to put more variety into the choices of songs I make simfiles of, which is why I'm trying to lay low on the BEMANI for the Summer Contest this year and do songs that you may have never even heard of or thought to make a simfile of.
In August 2018 I started getting into the My Singing Monsters video game series, and I have never seen a community anywhere near as creative as the fans of these games. In My Singing Monsters, the goal of the game is to breed monsters on a series of different islands, and the monsters each contribute to a different theme song which plays on each island. The monsters can be traditional singers, percussionists, or instrumentalists. It is common for My Singing Monsters fans to make their own made-up islands and songs for them. This is one of those islands.
MantisBoi, the main artist of this song, is a teenager. He is younger than me and yet his talent blows mine away. He designed all the monsters, composed all the instrumentals, and even animated the whole thing in one kick-butt video. Many people, like myself, look up to him. He was the first user to make a fully-animated My Singing Monsters fan island and has paved the way for so many other members of the community.
So as a bit of a thank-you to him for being so influential in the community, I've decided to make his first - and most popular - song a simfile.
I hope you all like it too.

And the winner of week 1 is...coming soon~! We're still tallying votes, I'll get back to you on that when we're done. For now, feel free to start playing the Week 2 files and vote on those, and I'll lay out Week 3 for ya!
Pretty simple. I'm a fan of making music, and I'm always impressed with people who can play musical instruments and make them sound awesome. But if I had to say, the one that really gets me going if someone is super skilled with it is none other than...
...the piano! That's right, I love me some good piano. And now we can all have some!
Or these days I guess it'd be called Nostalgia. Hmm. Either way, this week, I'd like a song that prominently features the piano! Which means up front and as part of the melody ideally, but if it's right behind a vocal track, that's fine.
· I'll also include instruments like electric piano, organ...uhh, harpsichord, I guess? Any that are played like a piano.
· Which means, I'm not planning on including accordion here, despite it having a keyboard. Still impressive to play, but I'm going for more the hammers-on-strings sound approach here.
· Also, no cheesing by claiming a synthesizer is doing the same job. It can be difficult to prove it was played instead of programmed, so if you want to play it safe, go for a natural piano sound. (How do you know that isn't programmed either? Because reasons.)
Let the concerto begin!
