Z-I-v Battle Royale 2019

Count me as one of the people suspicious about Stargazer proceeding. There were only 3 people that voted for it listed in the results: Mr. Music (+5), Slingshot (+4), and SupremeX (+3). (Note: this means the song had 12 points, not 13 as listed in the results, but that doesn't affect the ranking, so moving on) All 3 of these voters put this as their top song on their ordered lists (with only Slingshot introducing a tie as the second item), and the rest of their votes seeming to align with the general consensus otherwise. Combined with my impression of one of these voters, I heavily suspect there may be some fixing or collusion afoot, because Stargazer's flaws are pretty objective and should've kept it at the very least far away from being the top voted song on otherwise typical ballots.

I retract the assertion, I've seen elsewhere enough to convince me it wasn't coordinated, though I must still question the decision to put a song with patterns like these as the best sim of the round, even ignoring sync:

Also the total votes listed for that chart is 386 which is definitely not possible if everyone has 15 points. That means if 26 people voted then there are 4 votes missing. I'm not calling foul play but maybe a recount is necessary.

I don't appreciate the accusation. I can prove that I played all of the files. Maybe PM me before you try to drag my name through the mud. My laptop causes some sync issues with pretty much everything, which is why I was unable to tell it was off-sync, and why my submission is off-sync.

Total votes are now correctly 390. CELEBRATE NITE moves up one place, Push Every Button is now tied with Mango Love and Magpipe, but none of the eliminations are changed. Most likely Pandemonium X made a small mistake. Happens to everyone.

As for vote manipulation, I honestly highly doubt it. I myself don't vote for the most "correct" stepchart, but the most fun one. To "question" the way someone votes is pretty pointless in my opinion.

I mean, as much as I thought Stargazer was a bottom-tier file with lots of bad double-stepping patterns, and as much as I would have greatly preferred VanEden or Tikal or Bruno to move on to the next round instead, people are allowed to vote for whatever they want. That's just kind of how things end up going sometimes. It sucks but that's just the contest format.


Tell me about it, I made so many dumb little mistakes co-hosting Summer Contest last year. The weird vote totals don't make me suspicious of any foul play, this kind of thing happens a lot.

I really thought about getting someone else with me to count the votes and now looking back at some small errors, I should have done that. Sorry if the votes were not 100% correct and thank you for fixing them, I'm just glad the fixed votes really doesn't change who's in and who's out.

I think I'm going to have a 3rd party count the votes instead of just me (like how it is with SC). I thought doing votes ala PM would prevent people from pulling the vote manipulation card since that's as anonymous as you can be with the votes but here we are. At this point I don't know what else to do.

I also love how most of the people who are upset about Stargazer did not vote at all and if they did vote, it would have likely fixed the "problem" see how the file got in by only 1-2 votes.

Considering that this is chopsie's first(?) Battle Royale, I'm not going to give him too much slack. I also don't blame anyone for the votes. Besides, I saw some of the criticism left by Tikal, and I agree on some of his choices as well as how he said mine needed "a little more pizzazz." Had I tried harder on mine, I probably would've made it in, but here I am tied with VanEden for 16.

Still, I appreciate any votes for mine. I'm glad some of you guys like my work and wish it were better. I'm also surprised that nobody felt that the chart was out of sync. I thought it would be after I re-downloaded it and tried it out, but the more I think about it, the more it'll make my head spin.

I kiiinda like the heavy chart better than the challenge one, at least for now. Still, I like making an interesting layout for all skill levels if I can. In the future, maybe I should try something more at the boss stage level...eh, one step at a time. (Also, I'm proud of the Cytus connections I snuck into the graphics, for being as basic as they are. It's the small things.)
