Hello,

On my case this last versión "StepMania 5.3 Outfox Alpha 4.3 date-20200209" works really fine but it crashes once the song finished, before returning to the songs selection menu. Any idea?

Thanks ¡

Sorry, I forgot to attach the log:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Zlq-trRqKuO9RW_i9aV6s4XGilVD01bU
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1hS20SwKqA79U868wQ9ltMLJnA_Yww_WG

The game works perfectly. It detects my pad, sound and video are OK, etc. However when the song finishs and the game should come back to the song selection menu it crashes.

Thanks ¡

----------------- Edited

Hello again,

I solved the issue by myself. It seems that my computer is a little old and I don't have full OpenGL support on my Windows 10.
With glad video render some beta versions crashes once the song finishes and it comes back to menu, and on some beta versions (like last 4.5) it doesn't even start. After analysing the log file I realized that the problem was some GL instructions.

I edited the preferences.ini file on "save" folder and I suprimmed glad option, so I left only opengl and d3d:

VideoRenderers=opengl,d3d

Maybe we could implement some automatic video rendering selection when the first choice failed or something like that.

Thanks ¡

We released a new build (Alpha 4.5.9) a few days ago. If you haven't been using the newer Alpha 4.5-series builds, they have a large number of bug fixes and performance improvements, enhancements to our handling of high-resolution textures, along with some new theme features (color schemes, updated "detailed" stats pane, etc.)

I noticed in my play though using the new alpha only one random movie would play. The same movie would be used in every song I played. Don’t know if this is user error but I didn’t change any of my settings from the older version I was using.

Yes. That happened to me too. I used BGAnimations and might be related to the thing that handles random backgrounds for a song that doesn't have BGChanges (probably).

I ended up downgrading because I was tired of seeing the same video.

Have you tried the latest build?

https://projectmoon.dance/releases/5.3-a4.6.0-final

I must remind everyone: if you run into a bug, you need to tell us. We have a public bug tracker up now, so if it persists on Alpha 4.6, please report it there.

Thanks Lirodon. It's seems (at least for me) that it's fixed. Next time I'll post an issue in the repo.

I'm trying to port my themes to use with this build but there is one musicwheel function that has been added in mainline SM5 that doesn't work. I already posted it in github. Hoping this be considered in next update.

Alpha 4.9 is out

This one has a few things of note for themers, particularly

A. Updated version of Texture Font Generator

B. The default theme got a font refresh.

C. We have new fallback Unicode glyphs and characters that look much nicer.

D. Don't use string.upper/string.lower anymore, you can just do ToUpper()/ToLower() now. It's cleaner and Unicode-friendly.

Okay it has DEFINITELY been a while since I've last posted, but now we're at Alpha 4.9.10. A lot has happened in 10.1 months, and I feel that it would be hard to summarize it all.

But simply put, we've now begun to refer to ourselves as a "sandbox" for rhythm games as a whole, and have putting a lot of care and attention into other game modes besides just your typical 4-panel/DDR simulator. Some of these games don't really have accessible, multi-platform simulators with such wide hardware support, and the engine improvements needed to implement and refurbish modes can benefit all players. We also changed our name to just Project OutFox recently, mainly because we didn't feel that calling ourselves "StepMania" suited our current direction (we have more game types now that aren't dance games than ones that are), and because everyone was just calling us OutFox anyway.

In terms of modes, we added preliminary taiko and GH modes, we can load DTX and GDA files now, BMS files have a proper loading screen now, we can do per-column judgement displays now, we have pump timing windows now, and the list goes on.

Did you guys fix the video issues? I was going through beware's EXTREME files earlier in the year moving the scripts to current .sm's. in normal SM5, there were issues in which a video wouldn't play at the correct speed, and when set to rewind after playing, if it appeared again in a script, you'd get a frame or 2 flash before it rewinds. Same issue on Outfox. I did ask about this on Reddit, someone did respond and asked me to upload a file (I used the hardcore washables video of CSFILSM) but didn't really hear anything after.

I believe the video issues are mostly ironed out, I'm currently able to play my ITG simfiles with their video scripts just fine (very old MPEG encoded videos from the original game).

Does the video for Z Reboot from ITG Rebirth 2 work properly in 5.3? It doesn't work in 5.1 and to my knowledge no one has re-scripted it to work on newer SM versions.

Edit: Sometimes I don't know why I ask instead of just testing lol. No the script for Z Reboot still doesn't work on 5.3. It still just stacks all the images in the center at once just like 5.1.

The simfile in specific utilizes an .xml to control the images, intended to work with 3.95/OITG. Since SM4/SSC migrated to .lua long time ago, it should not be expected to work out of the box and will need to be converted. Thankfully, all of the images are basic Sprite actors inside an actor frame with simple commands to control their positioning, so converting it to .lua should not be tricky.

I thought ITG PC used SM4? It works there. But yeah I'm sure its easy enough for someone to convert if they know how. I personally know nothing about that kind of coding though.
