"Not a real DJ. I make music tho."
A20 not supporting SD cabs is probably because they wouldn't want its interface consuming too much space on the screen like in DDR A.

""Hands Up Will Live On""
Yes. Things are starting to get pretty cluttered in those 4:3 screens.

On the bright side, maybe getting those old cabs will be super-cheap at auction or on ebay or whathaveyou, but at the same time, there's now much better options for collectors (i.e. getting a Stepmaniax cabinet, etc.).

If I can briefly go off-topic for a second, are there programs that let you pick which DDR mixes you want in one interface (I mean picking 1st-SN2 MAME style, not Stepmania)? I personally wouldn't bother getting any HDDs older than 4th Plus since every song from 1st-3rd are available, save for maybe one or two songs.

"five minute white boy challenge"
Good luck to Konami getting everyone in Asia to upgrade to a white cab.

They love their SD stuff iirc

Yeah, I'm currently saving up now and when that first wave of tossed out red cabs shows up on American shores I'm jumping all over that!!!

Switching between 573 and Python mixes is a bitch and a half and not advised, tbh. It's possible, but it's a lot of work. It's why a lot of owners (at least out by me) stick to a nice, chunky mix like Extreme or 2013, or run Stepmania/Simply Love.

It's fairly easy to switch between a System 573 and a Python 2. Take out one PCB (while the cabinet has its power off and discharged) and replace it with the other. The caveat is that to use the optional lights on the Python 2, an EXTIO board is required.

So far, I've alternated between System 573 mixes and Python 2 mixes. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :-)

The new mix will not support SD cabs at all. This was confirmed already.

EDIT 2/15/19: see message quoting this on next page

Alright, I was wrong. I took this from someone who got it from a source close to KONAMI. There is zero confirmation of this. Though I still believe it to be likely.

From what I've seen, legacy cabinets tend to be a little bit slower than newer cabinets. At least when choosing a song the game lags a bit before it shows the difficulty settings iirc

Offtopic too, but I kinda want to know that too, not because I want to play them, but to actually check if some rumored songs are indeed on the hard drives of each game (like 4thMix supposedly having data for Ultra High Heels)

Or you could just not post random questions and wait until there’s more news about A20 to talk about in this thread. There’s a General DDR Discussion thread for stuff like that.

To be fair, there's really not much to talk about until we get news or we get the update for A20; I'm crossing my fingers the US cabs will update the same time as the JP ones do, or at the very least, update at the same time as South Korea's cabinets.

I just remembered something: What if you can now select your language like in Dancerush? Then we would for sure get a worldwide simultaneous update. >>

What are some licenses people want to see on the new mix?

I know it probably wouldn't ever happen, but I'd love to have this make it in:

tfw when people are bashing on someone who talked about something that was relevant to the conversation even if the last post made about that was an week ago (look at the post above they we're talking about beta features of ddr mixes)
also for licenses I wanna see U.S.A/Joe Yellow :3 (yes the original since A. 2 covers of that song appeared in other bemani games and B. the original version is perfect for an old school DDR game and it's the 20th anniversary game so it fits)

Because the two posts that were talking about it were already offtopic and they acknowledged as such while Apple didn't, so it was a continuation of a tangent that nobody was paying attention to anymore and a bump for that matter. Comes across as foolish.

Da Pump's version is far more likely to come if any, seeing how it's a top 10 in Japan more than half a year later and Konami successfully licensed it to DanceRush.

Honestly for licenses I would like to see some trance or classic-style techno. Pharrell Williams and Ariana Grande are big names, but they don't really get me moving or vibing to a beat. They weren't worth the (likely massive) licensing cost in my eyes.

I consider that more Daft Punk than Pharrell but then again it is my favourite song he's ever been on so I see it
