I kinda agree with almost everything, but there are some songs that are bad rated, even for scoring. For example, Top the charts equally harder as Fire Fire ????????? Wut? Shiny World equally harder than Vega ????? Max 300 and Squeeze harder than Beach Side Bunny ??????? :mindblown:

But at the end, the list is accurate enough

Using a formula makes it pretty objectively accurate, but has the downside that a couple difficult charts like Valkyrie DSP will get played once by higher players with a low score and never get touched again, since most would rather try to improve their ESP/CSP scores than grind out the DSP for a PFC like they would for other 15s. There's no way it should be anywhere close to the same level as Endymion DSP.

I know there's some 17s and 18s that I've passed once and will never touch again if I can help it. I'd much rather play 14s and 15s to improve my scores or just for fun.

I can see why MAX 360 is sometimes labeled easier than the other 19's, yet I haven't been able to pass it. (The only 19 I haven't passed yet is Endymion, obviously). While it is not as fast in mere BPM, the hard thing about it is that it doesn't let up. It's streams and streams with bursts. Some of the other songs are more hard on a technical scale, but not as draining for me, oddly enough. Possibly because there are points in those songs where I can recover, too.

I've been thinking a lot about equations and judging difficulty lately and one thing that I'm not so sure about with that equation is that a AAA score contributes as much to the ranking as an A score. Am I wrong? Or is there something I'm missing in terms of context that makes that right?

Those bursts are seriously nasty - it plays a lot like an easier version of the old ITG 16 Superluminal (1573 steps compared to 1000, also about 45 seconds longer), but at the end of the day this is objectively the easiest thing to score on - if you are on point enough that ambient 12th bursts aren't just an automatic miss there are no points in MAX 360 are that hard to score on.

Also, because it has 1000 steps + 10 freezes, you can miss a fair amount and still get a AAA - you can literally make more mistakes because scores are, essentially, percentage based - the more steps a chart has, the less of a score loss each miss represents.

I am surprised, admittedly, that EGOISM 440 isn't lower - I do not see any reason why people would score worse on it.


Categories say "[score] and up", meaning that AAAs also count towards each lower entry.

Let's use a simplified example, where SA = 1 - [(a + b) / t], where a is # of AAAs and up, b is # of AAs and up, and t is total score entries. In this case, if I get a AA, that adds one to 'b', but if I get a AAA, that adds one to both 'a' and 'b'.

Egoism is probably harder for most people because it's long 8th streams at 440 rather than 360. It's much harder to get by without misses on something that's over 20% faster, and even if MAX 360 has the occasional 12ths, there are never more than four in a row which makes things more manageable. That being said, my own Egoism score is a tiny bit higher, just because I find it very difficult to keep the beat with all the random 12ths stepped to nothing musically in MAX 360 and so my accuracy goes out the window.

Okay, that makes significantly more sense. So AAAs are worth 4 points. That's what I was missing, thanks!

MAX 360 is definitely the easiest 19. All 19s test your stamina like crazy, but MAX 360 is the only one of the five so far that has little tech aside from stamina. Even Egoism has weird techy bits.
