Round F Skeletons
CuzcoBlocko submitted a last-minute buy-in veto, allowing him to buy in and bid on the skeletons for this round. As a result, an unsuspecting participant who did not submit any bids ended up with the backup skeleton.

Find That Someone (feat. Richard Judge) / Televisor
BPM: 125
Singles: 1 / 3 / 5 / 8 / 7 (SA)
X-Scale: 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 / 10 (SA)
Normally, I tend to shy away from cuts that are just under 2:30, but this song is just too good to pass up. I might make another version with my own cut sometime later as well.

Yoake Made Ato 3 Byou / Taku Inoue
2/3 5/7 7/10 9/13 11/16
this is a really pretty song
According to Google Translate the title in English is roughly "dawn in 3 more seconds". Then again it's Google Translate so IDK.

And this is why I don't do songs of this genre and song structure.
Honestly I considered vetoing this song earlier, but then I thought 'f**k it. i'm 6 rounds in into this contest and i haven't veto'd anything so far, so why should i start now?'. Also, I wanted to experiment with the use of speed gimmicks on this one, mainly because of Cuzco's Halogen Blindness file. Not going to be as technical as that one, but hey, baby steps.
The chart of this is probably going to be polarizing to the contest, so I understand I probably won't get much points out of this file.

As the contest starts dwindling down, it still is anyone’s game, so if you want to win, you better hope your simfile gets lots of votes! Here is the songlist for the penultimate round, Round G.

I obviously can only speak for myself, but personally I just enjoyed the other simfiles more -- the Challenge chart also just kinda stressed me out. I enjoyed the Difficult and Expert charts a lot more because they felt more fun to play and I could actually focus on the gimmicks. Kinda hard to say what I mean but I hope you understand what I say x)

On a positive note, I'm really impressed that you got those weird rhythms at m17, m48 and the very end of the song correct. I had my doubts that whoever got the song was actually gonna step the right rhythm, but you did, so good job. Points for you based on that alone. Although to be totally honest, Find That Someone was the only file this week I'd normally give points to. I wasn't really feeling anything else but I still had more points to give out. Hate to sound so negative but that's just how I've been feeling with the recent rounds.
But something that really bothered me about Octarmaments was how some of the half-speed gimmicks were handled. Stuff like in m18, m22, etc. - any time the half-speed segment starts exactly one 16th note before the note I'm supposed to hit - that kind of thing never fails to throw me off no matter how many times I play the chart. I don't know, maybe that's me. The stops in m52 and the very end of m55 made no sense to me either. Those two stops felt shoehorned in there. Not like m27 where the music fully cuts out for a moment - those stops are great and exactly what I was expecting.
Overall though, IDK... kinda just one of those charts where there's not actually much I would say is wrong about it, but at the same time it doesn't quite click with me. Some of the crossovers simply felt a little weird to me, some of the rhythm choices I didn't quite agree with (no 4th note at beat 287 on ? ).

the one thing i did not enjoy about octarmaments
those half-bpm parts
they basically ruined the experience
but the rest was kind of ok, i guess

I sadly think this is the result of playing files from the same people over and over again with nothing new: I think Simfile Tycoon 2018 was placed in a bad spot, where it seems a lot of people are too busy or burnt out (like me) to contribute. Maybe this is the year where people are hitting their limits on what they can step. I wasn't feeling Rounds C and D that much either, and it contributed to me ultimately deciding to bow out of Round E and then the rest of the contest.
Maybe the simfile contests are starting to become way too stagnated and something completely different needs to happen. Or a longer break. To give everyone time to recharge.
Hopefully this contest doesn't die, but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Thank to everyone that's given me feedback. I figured that the half speed stuff/stops weren't necessarily going to be the best received. Everyone's comments so far confirm that suspicion.
I totally get how those particular half BPM sections (m18,m22) can be hard to grasp. I debated putting something there, since there are sort of small breaks in the music where nothing is happening. Perhaps stops might've fit better? I considered compressing a period of 3 8ths into 3/16ths, but I wanted to avoid the yellow note syndrome that that would've created (which would've probably been received worse).
Also can see the points about the crossovers. I wanted to sort of spice up the patterns in ways that aren't usually seen. I didn't exactly want this to be AAA'd or PFC'd on a sightread, especially considering the context of this song being from a Splatoon boss battle if my surface level research was correct. Overall it was an interesting song to work with and it begged for short little gimmicks. Some rhythms, like the ones in the last measure...were kinda hard to pick out so there were approximations. Tbh I'm not even sure how I figured out those three weird sections.
I also wanted to say that these contests are getting a little boring and repetitive. At this point all the contributors actually understand how to pattern now which is great! After a certain point, most charts go fairly well with the song and it's mainly personal preference. There's so few files to pick from at this point as well which makes distributing points a little weird. My thoughts are a little unorganized and rambly so I'll stop this here.
Thanks all for reading!

@mf32892 Your veto has been processed. Sorry for the delay!
GAMBOL (dfk SLC rmx) has been added to the songlist, so please check it out! If you want to bid on that song, but have already sent in your bids, you can still send in your bid for that song.

Yeah, I do feel like the contest got a bit too same-y since, so far, it's been almost the same contributors for the past 3 rounds by now and I generally agree with mf's points here. It did feel like personal preference became the main critique point on judging files because throughout playing the files on this contest alone, they're all well-made and there isn't really much to criticise on them besides some nitpicks and how you felt playing them on top on how do you distribute the points between them. It did feel like the contest dragged on a bit and the low turnout in recent rounds reflect on that.
This got a bit too rant-y now, so let's get on with the votes. And turns out, I got a lot of things to say for most of the files.
22 - Find That Someone [ledgam3r1279]]
16 - aurora [FoRCeDNaTuRe]
12 - Flashdance [TikalFan9000]
9 - Yoake Made Ato 3 Byou [Gameoson]
11 - Russian Roulette [tsugaru7reveng]
3 - Octarmaments [mf32892]
2 - interstellar travel [K-Step]
As a bit of a side-note, I'm guessing so far interstellar travel clearly has faults somewhere and I think I know why. Probably because of how I used the speed gimmicks or the patterns just didn't feel right, I guess. So, basically I'm asking is, what are your thoughts on the file and what I could do to make it better or fix something you felt was off?

5 pts - aurora (FoRCeDNaTuRe)
I really like what you did with this one. Not too simple, yet not too complex. Just hit the sweet balance between the two. And some variation between the charts presented is a nice bonus as well.
5 pts - Flashdance (TiKAL)
The whole thing was a blast to play through. The patterns feel like it fits to the song, there are nic differences between the charts and those mini-jacks in was satisfying to step.
5 pts - Find That Someone (ledgam3r)
I like how :there are noticable differences across the charts present (e.g. empasises more on the guitar, follows the vocals closely and focuses more on the beat) and all of those are well-made and fun to play through.
HM - Russian Roulette (t7r)
To be honest I don't find this interesting. It's stepped well nothing wrong with it, but I feel like there is something missing to make it stand out from any other K-Pop files on this site alone. At least to me.
HM - Octarmanents (mf32892)
idk I feel like those odd patterns thru-out the song was a bit of a turnoff for me. I feel I was twisting my whole body around and I was confused on which foot do I step next, at least when I played . Not saying the charts were terrible, you did what you could for a song like this, hell I did like , but with how the stops were placed, they threw me off at times.
HM - Yoake Made Ato 3 Byou (Gameoson)
Honestly, the crossovers in were a bit too much for me. It's basically how I felt about Octarmanents, a lot of turns and crossovers at b72-b103 then again at b239-270, and they all just blend into my head. I do like the piano parts and I felt the step-jump sections weren't too bad as well as the jump-jack sections. was pretty nice as well.
