I'm with mugentatsuya on this one. Accurate ratings. A rating system that makes sense when you get to the high end. This means expand it to 12. Max 300 and PHO don't belong in the same category. PHD isn't an 8.
A decent Note noteskin would be nice. Konami should just ask the SM guys if they can use the default noteskin for SM4 ;), and the theme too, because it gives all the step info (stepcount, jumps, holds, ...) on the song select screen. Played some Ex2 this weekend, and the transparent arrows made it harder until I dimmed the bg and turned off movies. Opaque arrows are the only sensible ones. Plus it helps to have things placed more finely than 16ths colored differently (though this isn't really an issue on most Konami charts).
I'm fine with the songs they choose.

Honestly in my opinion, the StepMania Theme 4.0 skins are hideous, and judging from the skins used by Konami in current and previous installations of DDR you can tell right away that Konami is using skins that are appealing in terms of "artwork". Secondly, the StepMania 4 Theme is HIDEOUS! It reminds me so much of the ITG theme, which I've nevered liked in the first place. Konami certainly puts efforts into creating "capitvating" themes.
Providing information on the stepchart? That seems to eliminate the "surprise" of the stepchart. I would just honestly prefer the results show me how I fared and whether or not I Full Combo'd the song. Albeit, I do agree with you on the current Supernova skins, they should really consider either making them darker so they could be readable, like the SN2 Note Skin.
Rating System? It seems Konami has been doing and keeping the 10 footer ratings since DDR Max, and I highly doubt they'll increase the maximum rating. I'm guessing boss songs will stay as boss songs. I really don't wanna see DDR become the next ITG sort-of icon.

It doesn't have to be, just think of it like IIDX.

Honestly, I could care less about how a theme looks. I wasn't advocating the looks of the SM4 themes, just the information it provides.
And if Konami wants to make appealing "artwork" that makes the steps harder to read, I'll turn off the artwork or play SM when I care about getting a good score. That being said, I'll play with videos and such in the background when I'm just playing for fun.
Providing the information is useful for when you want to compare two songs you're familiar with, but aren't sure which one has more jumps or steps. I suppose they'd be best off serving both by adding it as an option. Turn it on if you want to have an idea of what you're getting into.
With a few exceptions like Uranus (which is easier than, say, Cartoon Heroes), the 10s Konami has made have been 10 or harder. But if you look at them you can see that there's a serious difference in difficulty between the low 10's and the high 10's. From my perspective, it looks like there's far more variance in the 10's than in the 9's. I dunno about you, but I'd like to have some songs rated at 11 or 12, so that I know before I start that I'll fail ~20 seconds in, instead of ~70 seconds in. Also, it helps with deciding which songs to work on passing next if they're ranked differently, so that you know which ones you can benefit from attempting, and which will overwhelm you too much to learn anything from.
And don't think of it as them following ITG, think of it as them following IIDX (I've heard this from other posters). Besides, unless they change their view of hands, mines, and 16ths, they won't become like ITG. The ITG charts I've played on SM had far more 16ths than almost any Konami chart.

Then don't look at it? =P
There are players that don't like surprises, and would rather know just how tiring a song is. Groove radar definitely has its benefits, but it doesn't distinguish between the 10s' voltage/stream/chaos very well.

From what I see in the game databases, IIDX introduced 9's a month before DDR Max (2001), coincidentally in 6th style. Then in 2005 (Happy Sky, 12th), they got the 10-12 ratings. IIDX has advanced a lot further than DDR though, so I'd take it as a look at the future. We're already adopting their grading system (nc's count the same, AAA isn't all perfects) anyway.
But yes, I'd also really like to see an opaque Note. Better 32nd support (hi edit mode) would be great too, so we can add tricky rhythms to slower songs or just plain edit some of the songs that already have them. And if they're going to make more songs like Chaos, they should at least make them editable. Heck, I've really wanted 48th support for my Tierra Buena edit.

Dance Dance Revolutiopn is a dance simulation game..The themes, characters and stuffs like that would simply go with the flow if and only if the songs they choose are appealing to the players.
I think they should put more CS songs to the arcade version because not all people could buy expensive consoles just to play songs that they would love to hear and play.
The theme for SN2 is great. Simple yet attractive.
"More Dancemania License songs" - I would definitely go for this one..It's not impossible..if only we, the players, could raise our voices to Konami, I think they will double the effort to ask for licensing rights with Dancemania..or any other international artists they would want to put in the game. Konami should take into considerations what the players wants. "Customers first before self-interest, right?"
Expanding the foot ratings would not hurt. An 11 or 12? I'd love to see that on DDR, it gives the players an idea which is difficult than the other.:3

what they need to do is go back to the basics. this might be me, but I think EX is better then SN2. Don't try to be an ITG or a PIU. try to be a DDR.

For a CS release, they should make a "Create-A-Dancer". That would be pretty cool!

Maybe just maybe, they could link the game with a IIDX machine someway like GF & DM session play
Like
-Having the theme being similar to the IIDX themes, since although the names can do a good change, the themes are awesome (don't deny it)
-Having a non card relating system of user tracking for tournaments and local competitions
-Having an American E-amusement system
I know the last one won't exist but I and every other American DDR player will hope that Betson will be taken over by Konami of Japan.

They already did that with DDR/IIDX club version...I assume that the linking feature wasn't used very often, so they decided not to implement it into other versions.

Yeah, I wasn't just joking either. Konami's *cough* "super-popular" songs often seem to come from the 80's and earlier. It's like they live in the past way over there.

hmm.. for SN3 (or whatever the name will be), how about using EXP system? I mean like maximum tune's, we play using card and every time we beat a song, we'll get EXP points depending on modifiers, grades, etc..?
Next, when certain EXP points obtained, we'll Level up. and the more level we gain, more things can be unlocked such as songs, modifiers, etc..
well, it's just my opinion anyway..XD

Well, they sort of do that exact thing atm with SuperNOVA2 and it's Enjoy Levels, except it wasn't used to unlock songs.

aww.. you're right. so, I mean, a level 75 player, for example, will have more songs and modifiers than a level 50 player.
how's that sound?
