I actually took a break from DDR ( I was tired) and went over to try out this strange game.
I can best describe it as the best bemani game ever made. Slightly better than DDR.
Shifting the focus to the buttons was a correct move. One of the biggest benefits is that it removes the "having to remember where the buttons are" effect that games like Pop'n and beatmania have.
I only played 3 games but it was quite nice. The music is fairly solid. And the learning curve is much better than other bemani games. That is to say, one moves up the skill bracket at the correct pace.

Interesting, especially jubeat's name change, which is understandable.

Wow, I wasn't expecting this to be released here in the states. I wish I could go to the location test, but I doubt I will.

YES! i really thought this was Japan only, but alright! We got ourselves a location test here in the states ...
Now i just wish that Florida gets a couple of these once the arcade machine releases, sadly, the only machines that we have here is just DDR, you will have a 5% chance of finding a Beatmania machine around here and a 2% chance of finding a IIDX machine also...*hopes*

Cage, i suggest do the same thing for UBeat as you would for X, get the intro (if there is one), the song list, how to play, etc.

Just get some footage of people playing it and some footage of the machine itself from a distance. Oh and a songlist if you can!

Finally a Europe location test, KONAMI should've announced this on their AC site really though:
Tenpin,
Royale Leisure Park,
Western Avenue,
Park Royal,
Acton, London, W3 0PA.
Don't know when it will end but I may go there tomorrow to check it out.

Attached is the latest press release from Konami Digital Entertainment B.V!
As the press release states the machine won't be down there for too long, and Konami are looking for feedback. So why not head on down to Acton and see what you think. Remember anything you feel would make the game better, Konami want to know!
However be sensible, don't go overboard with complaints, be constructive with them.
Enjoy!

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. are pleased to announce, that U Beat (also known as Jubeat in Japan and Asia) is currently being tested at Tenpin Bowl, in Acton, West London (please check the link for more information on the site - http://www.tenpin.co.uk/home/our_locations/acton.stml).
UBeat is a rythmic action game that has proved to be hugely popular in overseas markets. Using 16 buttons layed out in a grid formation, that light up in sequence to the time of the music. Players must try to keep in time with the music by pressing the buttons as they light-up. The current version is a prototype and has a wide range of music to enjoy.
The game will not be on test for too long therefore if you get a chance please play it and let us know your thoughts (enquiries@konami.co.uk) !

OK, I think Konami is serious about the release of this game... I don't think they spend too much money in something that isn't going to be released.
it's funny, jubeat is called jubeat only in japan :/
