Steam Machine coming out November 10, 2015

I haven't been checking out enough of the art heavy games coming out lately as I play games on console while my computer is busy.

In 2005 a computer called the Apextreme tried to fuse PC with console, but missed the mark. Many aspects of it would already have been outdated. The Apextreme would have been better for the plug and pray days. The company behind the Apextreme was DISC and they did manage to get their technology into the Alienware DHS. So it's interesting that Alienware is going to be the next company to try to fuse PC with console again. Many other companies like Asus are as well.

Starting at $450.00 finally I will have something that will allow me to play the games I haven't gotten around to for awhile. Looking at these, I remember laughing in the face of people who said "PCs are cheaper than consoles", and this is pretty much why. All but one of these exceed the price of a PS4 or Xbox One nowadays, and you might as well just have a PC instead...

tbh I'm less excited for the console and more excited for more games to support Linux. Controller looks interesting.

PCs are cheaper than consoles, because the purchase is far more than the hardware. If you spend $700 on a PC and shop only the sales, you can easily get $400 worth of games for less than $100. That would put a PS4 at $800 and the PC at $800. From there, the PC only continues to get cheaper than the console.

Then there are upgrades. Upgrade your video card for $100 or get an entire new console for $400. Hmm. If you got a PS3 and PS4 both at launch you spent $1000 on hardware alone. Imagine what you could do with a PC if you build it and upgrade it spending up to $1000.

Yes, PC is cheaper than console, as long as you aren't short sighted about it.
