Has anybody tried out Apple's new rip-off music service? Apple Music launched earlier this week offering a free 3 month trial period. You can read more about it here: https://www.apple.com/music/

I was looking at what countries it was available in, and I noticed Japan was on the list. So I immediately hopped onto a 3 month trial of Apple Music (Japan) [note: if you want to do this, you need to have enough gift card funds or a credit card, etc. in order to start the free trial. It doesn't deduct the balance. Plus you can disable subscription renewal in Apple Music's settings].

My impression so far is that it's pretty good. I used it both on my iPad and on the computer. I REALLY like that when you add music to your Library, you can change the tagging and stuff (which is good for people like me who really prefer their music to be properly tagged). Unfortunately, the iOS app doesn't offer scrobbling support, but if you use the desktop version (with iTunes), it scrobbles fine. Another plus for me. Since my account is only a day old, the recommendations are pretty lame, but I imagine over time it will get better. The only bad thing I have had happen to me is I had to restart iTunes twice because the streaming stopped working.

As someone who is a fan of streaming services like this (I guess)... compared to Spotify (Premium), Rhapsody, Google Music (All Access), and Rdio; Apple Music is better suited for my tastes and needs.

Any thoughts?

Changing the tagging sounds really useful. I have Spotify Premium, and I like it for the most part. The only way to have the music sorted by genre/year is to make playlists yourself, so that's a feature I could see myself using. If I still had an iPhone I'd probably try the trial.

I was reading some other forum's users impressions of Apple Music, and the reception is generally negative. People are complaining of messed up libraries after enabling iCloud music library, streaming quality not being optimal, and complaints about the "For You" recommendations being stuff they already know.

I've been playing around with it more, I definitely prefer using this on desktop. The iOS app is very clunky and the interface is hard to navigate. Much more difficult than using Spotify or another service.

It's just another music streaming platform to me. I use Spotify for free with an ad-blocker and it's perfectly fine. Aside from exclusives, which every platform has in some way, I see no reason to switch over, especially since someone can rip exclusive stuff and upload it elsewhere. That's my two cents on it.

Yeah, honestly, I don't think I'm going to pay for it once my 3 month trial runs out. I've been uploading my music to iCloud music library the past 2-3 days, and that feature is REALLY useful. Also, haven't had any of the issues about messed up tags or album art in my uploaded music, so I don't know where that's coming from. I can't wait for the Android launch in the fall though.

I so far haven't had any metadata issues (updated to 12.2.1), but I did have a few weird things happen from duplicates. At least it's courteous to prioritize non-iTunes files so that I can redownload the "dupes", but it's still a bit annoying that, because I had some of my DDR cuts, it assumed it shouldn't keep the full original versions. It's worth noting that I've had the iCloud off during these changes, so I don't know if it'll undo my work, since I intend to turn it back on.

I think it is another Music Streaming Service, which the world doesn't need! I am a fan of free Spotify and I don't wanna Change! However I gave the Trial Version of apple Music a try and I have to say I don't like the library at all! Is this supposed to be well structured? No way!
Of course sometimes I wanna hear my music offline and for this case I use a Streaming Recorder, called Audials Tunebite And I can record from every single Plattform, either Spotify or apple Music.. It is much better!
I can say this is much better, than subscribing for every single Music Streaming Service.

I Don't like it so much anymore Sad
Reason is that they do no support ipod on Apple Music!
It is hard to believe but true, all songs that I added thanks to Apple Music couldn't get transferred to my ipod.

I even googled the problem and there is apprently no solution so far. Apple just doesn't support it due to the restrictions of apple music. Seems that they couldn't integrate the two concepts.

Only solution (after some research) that I found so far and that I am actually using is to record the songs to mp3 with a software and afterwards send them to my Ipod. This solution requires a little bit of work (and 20 bugs). The software is called Audials tunebite premium. here : http://audials.com/en/how_to_record_stream_capture_music_videos_movies_from/apple_itunes.html
is the link that gives a description of how to capture apple music.

So that is a bit sad for me as I was hoping to use apple music with my Ipod and I have to use this 'backdoor' solution to get it done.
