I got a note at school that went out to everyone and it said. (I am not making this up)
“We here at this high school understand the importance of school safety. Because of this, we want you to be noted of the situation that occurred yesterday
Two students were verbally sharing details of the television show “Death Note” Which is showed on Cartoon network. The premise of the show is a high school student who finds a notebook that possesses the ability to cause people to die.
While sheering this information, one student proceeded to with information about the show and placed 3 other student names on the paper. Although there is no evidence that the student is trying to attend any harm, it is considered inappropriate for any student to communicate possible harm to other students. This matter as been turned over to the authorities and will continue it’s investigation.”
This is just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever herd.XD

WHAT!?
Seriously? This may be the weirdest thing I've seen. Even dumber than the fact that the Victorian punishment for suicide was the death penalty.

This is really silly on all fronts actually.
The school administrators are stupid about worrying about such a thing. As they said "there is no evidence that the student is trying to attend any harm." That should speak volumes about the situation. It's the same thing as saying "I'm gonna kill you!" jokingly when a friend does something that displeases you. The kids have nothing to worry about, they cannot be charged with anything criminally, though the school can put any kind of punishment they want on him, of course. The fact that they turned it over to "authorities" is pretty ridiculous.
The students are possibly even more stupid. This is HIGH SCHOOL. You don't watch cartoons anymore and pretend that they're real, especially a show like Death Note. Yes, I like Death Note, and I may or may not have the cutest little L plush doll sitting on my nightstand, but I have enough sense not to go around saying that I'm writing people's names in a Death Note. It's idiots like these that make it harder for the rest of us to enjoy shows like that, because they keep putting stupid restrictions on them.
Maybe I'm just irritable today, but people are STUPID.

I’d think at high school, people will know what’s real and what’s fantasy. The worst case scenario is it gets pulled, I like the show myself.

Don't worry...you guys over there are smarter than the dweebs we got over here .
Oh, and I've never actually watched Death Note on CN....English dubs SUCK, except in a few rare instances like Paranoia Agent. Still, it's one of the better "popular in America" animes...*shudders at thoughts of Naruto and Bleach*.

We gave a murderer £250,000 compensation for falling down some prison stairs, while the family of the man who he killed got £10,000. That stupid enough?

We don't allow gay people in our military. I think that trumps everything.
Oh...and we've had the above scenario happen bunches of times. Also, though there are 47 million people without Health Insurance here...Prisoners and suspected terrorists get some of the best health care .

piepie: My dad works for the Michigan Department of Corrections, and he would argue with you on the prisoners getting better health care. Usually they don't get a lot of routine medical treatment unless the corrections department can know for sure that the condition is serious. Basically their health care is about the same as any indigent... although they probably get better food. Also, there are a lot of weird mechanics behind that 47 million number... some people slip through the cracks, but a lot of that number is illegal immigrants, people who qualify for Medicaid and haven't enrolled, and people (like myself) who are uninsured by choice. The actual number is still rather high, but 5-10 million is a lot less impressive to report than 47 million. Also, we allow gay people in the military... just not open homosexuals. That being said, I wouldn't mind if they just banned any open display of sexuality within the armed forces, and thereby solve any potential inequality issues.
Back on the topic, though... good grief. We did this years ago... although, admittedly, it predated Death Note, and then people just thought of it as a harmless prank by some geeks and goths because they didn't have anything to blame it on. I think it's a lot easier to get all in a snit over stuff like that just because it can be blamed on something rather trivial. The schools don't want to deal with religion, with the human psyche, with drugs or sexuality... but if the offending agent is a freaking cartoon, watch them go into action!
