At first I thought in the groove 2 dedicabs as well, but the question is whether you can convert those to a modern DDR mix or not. I wonder if you can just switch a ddr cab's pads with itg pads...

Haha no

Get a 573-era cabinet and foam mod it. It's less money and less risk if that's your plan.

Upgrading a dedi to a new DDR is a sin in itself. OpenITG is okay in my world.

Also, the parts are all from Andamiro/Roxor and not Konami, so don't take any chances.

Also the term "foam-modding" is new to me. How does that work? Is it dangerous or simple? Would it require more frequent checkups and would it reduce durability? I am sorry if these questions are dumb or anything.

Is that what the itg pads use?

Foam modding allows the sensitivity of the pads to increase and allows room for lighter steps so that you not only use less energy for anything less than a 12th note and allows combos to become higher and stuff. Foam tape is placed over the L-bracket over the sensor. Additonal layers of duct tape can be added if so desired.

Dr. D has a decent guide for foam-modding your arcade pads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAy9SDTVt4s

foam mod is when you put foam inside the pads to raise the panels up making them easier to hit

ITG pads aren't foam modded (out of the factory) but are higher than ddr pads stock

Any technical stuff can be solved within the realms of YouTube from the community.

Countersunk screws on the brackets are also very nice too.

I just finished watching Dr. D's tutorial for foam modding and that was a very nice watch. Makes me want to offer that service for all my local arcades hehe... I'll definitely do it to mine should i ever manage to own one Smile

Just another question.
You watched the other parts right?

Cleaning and repairing is mandatory prior to modding, at least that's what I think.

Yeah, I watched the foam modding video first out of curiosity for what it was. Owning a DDR cab seems to be like having a pet. Smile
