I've been playing on keyboard for a few months, and I decided that it was time to upgrade. I want to buy a KOC, but I keep hearing accounts of input lag. This really puts me off because I just want a KOC because it's cheap. Should I just go ahead and buy the KOC and try my luck with the Ps2/USB convert, or should I just save up for an ASC?

You'll definitely want a JKOC if you're going for a KOC. USKOC has unbearable variable lag. The JKOC has a much better polling rate and is actually usable with a converter. If you're more interested in building up your IIDX skills for AC play then I'd recommend the ASC. If you just want to get into insane BMS then a JKOC is fine.

Thanks for the response. I'll look into the JKOC then. Any idea what website I could check? I know Yahoo Auction JP is one place, but I don't recall them shipping internationally.

I got my JKOC from eBay. I'd spoken to people beforehand about using beatmania controllers with playstation->USB converters, and some said it worked fine with any old converter whereas others said they experienced input lag to the point of making it unplayable. Turns out that everyone who had a bad time with their controller had the USKOC, so I definitely wouldn't recommend that. As for myself, my JKOC came with a Super Joy Box 3 Pro which I've heard is the best of its kind for beatmania controllers. I've also heard from some others who are running Windows that you can download a program to increase the USB polling rate to 1000hz to make your controller more responsive.
