Guitar Hero: Live (multi)

I'm actually quite intrigued by this. As hype as I am for RB4, this looks real promising. A fresh-ish new take on something we already know & dig.
I'd buy it.

There's one issue that I foresee. No one will want to invest $100 for a controller that works for one game. The solution would be to make the purchase a smart investment. You do so by releasing multiple iterations on all platforms and for tablets!!!

Nice live action everything trailer, it was 3 minutes of my life I can never get back that could have gone towards anything else and it would've been spent better. I remember when Borderlands did this in 2009, except that trailer was actually good. Bet you they "pull a Borderlands" and do a major art/presentation overhaul and wind up with something more colorful, something that more closely resembles the rest of the Guitar Hero franchise. Or I hope so for their sake, because right now it does not look very appealing to the eye from a consumer standpoint.

As someone who has tiny-ass baby hands (and has spent way too long trying to slide thier hands up and down the frets, only to be a note or two off), I honestly like the new guitar design. While the gameplay seems a little weird, I think it still works well enough. The only problem I really have is the FMV (which seems pointless) and the lack of drums and vocals (which would have worked well with the FMV anyway). Either way, I still think we need to wait until they come out with more details before giving it a final judgment, considering there's still at least another 5 months before it's released.

I can't be anything than negative after this announcement.

I'm sorry, but the Guitar Hero and Rock Band competition has succesfully over-saturated the Western audience's hunger for rhythm games, by giving each year more of the SAME game with more songs and little to no personality, in order to be that "trendy thing that sells well" because of the novelty of the toy instruments. It's for the yearly competition between Harmonix and Activision that people got tired of rhythm games and we have solely to thank their douchery if Western countries don't have any healthy rhythm game franchises like Japan, where these are being treated with care that goes beyond the "being trendy".

The dark age is coming back, people.

Well, you have to give Guitar Hero some credit for trying a different approach. In all honesty I think it was a pretty clever way to incorporate a sixth button without completely overwhelming the average American player. The presentation is the biggest turnoff for me though, as well as the new shift towards chord difficulty rather than run difficulty, not to mention the price tag.

Wow, Skrillex, Avicii and even fucking Ed Sheeran. Mainstream is kewl, guyz. This game is outright ignoring what Warriors Of Rock tried to do (make the franchise about ROCK music again) and it doesn't look pretty. The guitar redesign looks like it'd be really aggravating, not to mention about ten 'bands' have been confirmed that I honestly couldn't give a shit about (Try-hard metal bands like Pierce the Vail, oh dear) and the Rolling Stones is about the only good band in the current lineup. The outright lack of drums and vocals is pretty dumb too. Sort of hoping this game gets a LOT more promising, otherwise I'm probably just gonna buy Rock Band 4. At least that game has drums, vocals, and the ability to use past instruments.

Want fun? RB4 is the answer.

Want simulation? Rocksmith 2014 can literally teach you how to play.

Want to shell out about £70 for what looks like a pretty stripped-out experience and a confusing controller? I guess you can play Guitar Hero Live, if you REALLY want to. You're probably going to wish you bought Rock Band 4. I(t (HOPEFULLY) doesn't have Skrillex in it.

The depressing thing is that really does pass for 'rock' these days. Foo Fighters and Rolling Stones are pretty much the only good bits of a really piss-weak list so far.

Hopes for RB4 songlist to be at least semi-cool because if not we're back to square one as far as music games go outside of Asia... I thought 'meh' of RB3 but 'brilliant' of the first two. Hey, there's always DLC, right?

Plus, while I like the Foo Fighters, they've had so much DLC in Rock Band it's unreal...

That's what I was afraid of. I think it might be OK but it's annoying that you can't just play the songs you want to play. I'm curious how big the "GH Live" song list will be, vs. the "GHTV" song list. The website says that "hundreds of videos will be available at launch", so I'm worried that the list of songs you can play whenever ("GH Live") is going to be relatively quite small. The fact that GHTV appears to be free (i.e., it's not a paid DLC subscription service) is good, I suppose. I guess we'll see where things go from here.

Spontaneous reacton from the setlist I've seen... "What IS this absurdity, where are the good metal acts that could've given us a challenge???" And believe me, unlike many people I really enjoyed Warriors of Rock.

Yes, but keep in mind that this is a completely new gameplay setup; I wouldn't be surprised some more GH alumni get announced later.

Come to think of it, in the announcement trailer, I saw the words 'GH2' in the GHTV menu... maybe the game features all the past songs as well? IDK anymore, but Jordan revival is a must.
