Well, it looks like my votes for this round are going to be pointless, so here's some quick feedback instead.
童話回廊 [Silverhawke] - lol at the last two steps in . I enjoyed this file a lot more than I initially thought I would, especially with the chart. Some parts of felt a little empty and could use some more freeze arrows, but the steps themselves are still decent at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I get my ass kicked this round, although I kinda hope I'll be proven wrong soon. Just maybe.
Zirkfied [mf32892] - I don't quite understand the use of all the freeze arrows in the slowdowns, but I do love all of the gallops in this song. I would advise adding an extra beat into that stop in m59, though, for that added emphasis leading into the next measure.

I honestly don't think you'd lose that badly, if you were to lose. It's not like many people vote for Doubles. Hopefully more will vote than just me.Quote: ledgam3r1279

.Do you think you could be a bit more specific? I get slowdowns is specific, but which parts? The start of the song? The middle? The first half of the middle? Second half of the middle? Any specific difficulties?

So you're saying I should make the stop long enough (by adding a beat) so that the next notes are right after the last 12th? I don't know if it's a bad thing, but it kind of makes it like Over The Period.Hopefully I should have time soon enough to vote and give feedback. If not tonight, then probably sometime over the weekend.

I did say my comments were meant to be short, but I guess I should have clarified here, thanks. I'm referring to all the freeze arrows that force double steps ( there's at least a few in every chart, but especially in measures 52-57 in ).Quote: mf32892
So you're saying I should make the stop long enough (by adding a beat) so that the next notes are right after the last 12th?
Yes. More specifically, I would have done it like this:#BPMS:0.000000=105.000000,
16.000000=210.000000,
197.000000=105.000000,
236.666672=52.500000,
237.000000=210.000000;
#STOPS:52.000000=0.857000,
236.666672=0.952385;
Change it or not, it's up to you.

BPM: 158
S: 4 / 6 / 8
I guess 4/6/8 ratings and 158 bpm are becoming a thing with me? Anyways in love with how this came out and how has no one stepped this before. Tried to have lots of fun with the freezes and the rhythms because of how fun the instrumentals in the song are.

マトリョシカ (Matryoshka) / ハチ feat.初音ミク・GUMI
BPM: 205*
6 / 8 / 10 / 10
Not a big fan of Vocaloid, very few that I actually like, but GUMI is certainly one that I do enjoy (Miku is...Miku), and Matryoshka is one of my favorite Vocaloid songs. Originally this didn't have a chart, but it would be incomplete without a truly difficult chart to match the song's intensity. Sorry for the occasional rude pattern, but hey, this is supposed to be a challenge
Also fuck that gradual speedup at the end. I don't know if the BPMs are correctly mapped or not, but the values that are there seem to work well enough so I guess it's fine?

DOUBLES MODE BEST MODE votes- oh wait there's only three files this week and only one complete matchup
童話回廊: (DH) Nothing bad to say about this chart at all. Given the rhythmic complexity of the song, it makes sense to keep the patterns as simple as you have them.
invoker: (DH) Those center transitions in beats 79-80 and 95-96 are pretty wack. Some of the jumps in beats 164-194 are rougher than they need to be.
Zirkfied: (DH) The first half made a lot of sense, but the rhythm choices started to fall apart in the second half (there's a lot of triplet motifs that you converted into 16ths). It's a bizarre song to step.

I honestly heard them as 16ths. Now that I hear your feedback, I kinda get that they could be taken as 12ths. It's kind of ambiguous. Were there any other rhythm choices that bothered you? You made it seem like it was really bad. You used the phrase "started to fall apart".Zirkfied: (DH) The first half made a lot of sense, but the rhythm choices started to fall apart in the second half (there's a lot of triplet motifs that you converted into 16ths). Anyways here's my VOTE and FEEDBACK
Oh, gosh, this was a really difficult decision. I really like both of your charting styles; they're so much like official charts, which I really do enjoy. This took a lot of playing both files...and a decent amount of nitpicking.
I had to pick Silverhawke's: there were less nitpicks for Douwa Kairou than I had with invoker.

invoker - [ledgam3r1279] - 0

Good rhythm choices for the most part. For part of the song, towards the middle, there was a period where the player didn't do much [Beats 257-289], which probably could've had some simple 4th rhythms (at 2 beats apart)
The stops threw me off a bit, but after the first one, I could almost predict when they were going to occur.
Also, is a 5. 4's don't have constant 190 BPM 4th streams.
I think you handled the part in the middle better than in It was not so much standing there, since there were more notes to fill the spaces. I found the stops a little more unpredictable this time around, but this is only my second time playing this song. I think the whole of the song could've used a bit more 8th triplets to better offset the kind of mini "death-run" at the end with the sets of 8ths; none of the rest of the song was that physically demanding. Plus, it's very similar to the in terms of difficulty.
Wow, that was way harder than the Difficult chart, but it fit the song nicely. Some of the pad transitions felt a little awkward despite not requiring doublesteps at all. Nice chart overall! One nitpick of mine is that you started off this chart too hard. For most songs, I think it's better to start off easy and after the "intro" bit, then you can up the difficulty. I have no idea what beats 150-155 were going to. Beats 201, did not reflect the different rhythm of the bass, which I noticed later on. Also, it bothers me that during the some of the jumpstreams you make it so that there's a DL jump followed by U-L-LR, so your foot has to move from the down arrow to the up arrow within an 8th window. Then you go on to have that same mirrored pattern later. Huh, I guess there were more nitpicks than I thought.
Douwa Kairou - [Silverhawke] - You're on a roll with these fast waltzy songs. That 5/4 and 6/4 time signature is really different and interesting.
Nice and simple. I think you picked good rhythms, especially for this interesting time signature. Nothing wrong that I can see.
Good rhythms, too, but I feel like just a bit more could have done with this chart. A few more 4ths here and there towards the end (which seemed almost identical to rhythmically, there) and it's perfect.
That was really good! Only nitpick was that the (insert musical term here) at the middle of the song felt a bit understepped. Maybe you could've used that rhythm for the chart and added a couple 8th triplets into this chart's rhythms. Other than that, great!

I take it you haven't seen this type of pad transition in DDR before? I think it greatly adds to the fun factor of this song. Quote: mf32892

I think this song is an exception, though. I don't see how the intro can be easier without being too easy.Quote: mf32892

Sometimes, the steps don't really have to follow any particular part of the song and just have to "feel" right in a dancing context. The rhythm felt right to me, at least. Following the bass drums in beats 201-207 would make the section feel too chaotic and awkward IMO. Actually, putting in any more 16th notes at all would make the chart feel awkward to me.Quote: mf32892

The "correct" way to approach the DL jump is to place your left foot on the down arrow and right foot on the left arrow. Apply "Right" on those notes (beats 165-169) and the phrase will make more sense in a way that requires less movement.Post #412 · Posted at 2015-04-20 08:40:52am 9 years ago

I kept my reviews short because I wanted to make sure I did them in time - sorry about the lack of detail.

Silverhawke's correct; a good example both of their use and why I don't enjoy them is KIMONO PRINCESS EDP. You did a better job of making sure the player had their body turned ahead of time, but they're still uncomfortable, especially from a bar play standpoint.
I'd recommend watching a video of the pop'n chart to understand the rhythms in the end. A lot of the last half of your chart is quantized differently.

I've been so up in school work I almost forgot today is the deadline. We have our finals for Doubles. Silverhawke VS mf32892. Doubles finals can begin.
Round 3 submissions are closed, voting for Round 3 may now begin. Also a few notes... If you are knocked out of the tournament, you can still vote for songs.

KIMONO PRINCESS is a pretty extreme example, don't you think? I prefer the transitions in UNBELIEVABLE (Sparky remix) and 凛として咲く花の如く ~ひなビタ♪edition~ EDP a lot more. And who said anything about being forced to use the bar?Quote: mf32892

KAISER PHOENIX: Pretty nice and fun, loved that you kept it simple. Also the Phoenix in the video was pretty mesmerizing.
MENTAL MELTDOWN: It kills me not being able to give you a vote because this was really good and I love seeing how you've improved when it comes to simfiles!
Scars of FAUNA: Just the usual, you're perfect and can't do no wrong when it comes to simfiles. Surprised we haven't seen any TOTTO yet though (I have a feeling you're gonna pull 伐折羅 -vajra- out of your ass sooner or later).
マトリョシカ: I ♥ you and I ♥ this, just like with Silverhawke you're perfect.
CALL: I just put this here bc the blank space in the text box really bothered me, aren't I cute lol.
Fall in Love: Well it was the usual stuff you do lol, although I can bet cold hard cash someones gonna say it needs a chart. Cute song but I liked some of the stuff you put out earlier in the competition a bit better.
