Rock Band 3 DLC 2015 thread (more coming 02/17)

So much for "the day the music died"... There is new Rock Band 3 DLC coming out tomorrow.

Is this a one-off, or a tease towards a potential next-gen revival?

We can only hope for a return of the plastic guitar game.

Even if it was just a downloadable expansion to RB3, I'd be down for another RB game.

Don't forget, E3's only about five months away.

But even more appropriately, PAX East is just two months away, and Harmonix always has a presence there (mainly because they're based in Boston). The fact that they've, ahem, gotten the band back together (rimshot) indicates that they're building up to something.

I will not be able to take this grin off my face for hours.

Oh my gosh. Oh...my...OHMIGOSHOHMIGOSH! The series' longevity hopefully knows no bounds! Also, cool to see extremely current tracks: Arctic Monkeys' album had hits in Canada and the US this year, Hail to the King was big the previous fall, and Something From Nothing is on the Bubbling Under right now! I will buy these tracks, no doubt, the instant they're released. Let's hope this leads to more in the future; it's looking bright!

I'd think the Foos had something to do with this DLC. The Arctic Monkeys have yet to be put into Rock Band at all.

Also, Guitar Hero 2015 announcement at around the same time.

All based on hunches and strong rumors.

Given circumstance of this years trends, the song list will largely be made up of Approaching Nirvana, Knife Party, Lindsey Stirling, and others.. I'm completely okay with this.

As long as we don't get to see Band Hero again then i'm fine with it. Only reason to get it was for Santa Monica and Whip It anyway. >>;

DJ Hero will probably never get a third itteration unfortunately, if for some reason it does (If this upcoming new Guitar Hero which is oddly going to be made by the same peopke that made DJ Hero coincidentally is a huge success), it won't follow the 'mix two songs to make one mix' formula as this quite literally bankrupted the series and put them in a pickle.

Seeing that they had to license over 120 individual tracks to make 65+ mixes for the first game, and just around the same amount of songs for the second version, I don't think the idea of a third DJ Hero is going to happen. Which, to me, sucks because it was one of the very few Western rhythm games that had one of the most unique ideas for a rhythm game out there, and was quite a difficult rhythm game to really master.

Back on topic, Harmonix is really teasing the idea of a fourth Rock Band game, it's pretty inevitable now since they suddenly added new DLC to a game that had none for almost two years. This could probably be a test to see how relevant the game can still manage on it's own without really anything new added to the game itself. It's like giving a child a toy that is his favorite, then two years later the exact same toy gets released only this time they added something new to the toy for more enjoyment.

Guitar Hero 'X'* or 2015 is not necesarily confirmed, but it's been hinted at by people who have been working around the offices of FreeStyleGames. I just wonder what they are going to do that Guitar Hero/Rock Band hasn't already done yet. Same goes for Rock Band 4.


*I say Guitar Hero X because 2015 would mark it's 10th anniversary in the series, ala how DDR has DDR X to commemorate it's 10th anniversary game.

DJ Hero was the only way we ever got anything like Beatmania (and it still was barely similar) in Europe, so a 3rd one would be awesome.

Rock Band 4 would be super cool, too.
