How do you make them? Are they made in stepmania, or other applications. You guys churn them out pretty fast, and I can't even get to five seconds in a song im stepping. Help? Is there a tutorial that I could be redirected to?

i believe almost everyone uses stepmania. maybe there are a few who uses ddreamstudio.
but anyway go read this thing first -- the entire thing: http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/viewthread.php?threadid=352
once you got syncing down, the rest should be easy.

Your first couple of sims will take a while. It's until you get used to it.
-Make a "new folder".
-Add a blank .sm file inside of it. (You may just copy paste an .sm file into the folder, ctrl+a, delete all the text using note pad/word pad and then rename the .sm file afterward by right clicking, clicking rename, but keep the ".sm" portion)
-Add the mp3 or ogg file into the "new folder".
-Follow a syncing guide.
-Open up stepmania.
-F11/F12
-Slap some arrows, rate the difficulties, and call it a chart.
-Make some graphics (there are a ton of tutorials, don't ask).
-The end

And here are tips for graphics:
If making Pop'n Music Songs, and plan on using the original banners, remove the genre name if possible (Gimp for harder jobs, While programs like Paint.net, and maybe SumoPaint for simpler jobs) and if the title isn't the main focus, make it the focus. if the genre name is smaller in size (as in scale), you can change that into the artist's/band's name. of course asking for a bit of help is O.K! second, Jackets do not have to be a resized version of the bg. Just keep that in mind. also, in terms of graphics, you pretty much need a Bg and a Banner. the jackets are used for special SM5 themes, so don't worry. and also, don't stress at all. stressing out does NOT help. sorry if you've gotten good and don't need this message, but keep it as a footnote, and also, have fun.
