[SM5 THEME WIP] DDR 2014 ~Beta 1.0 release

It was quite a hassle at the start but it was really only a few placement and size issues.

Thanks that's really useful, I tried using something like GetScreenAspectRatio() before, I think it was used in waiei and Kenp's X2 theme, but it didn't seem to work so I just split it into two versions.

Having a problem with the theme, though this only happened when I put the NG dancer background videos into the theme.

It's saying this exactly:
It ends up not showing the screen filter if I click ignore which is pretty bad

I'll probably just get rid of the bg videos and put it the way it was again but thought I should bring this up

The screens that may be the best to use that IsUsingWideScreen() function will be ScreenTitleMenu and ScreenGameplay (and perhaps, ScreenSelectMusic).

Inside each, there should be 2 folders: hd and sd folders. The codes for the default metric for those screens would be:

In the options menu, the step zone on/off are switched. Might be easier just to say "Step Zone Disabled" instead of "Step Zone"

BTW, great job with the theme, I could definitely play with it as is.

Thanks so much for the 4:3 version! It looks so good now, can't wait to try it out on the cab! Quick question: how do I get the group sort to show jackets instead of banners? Banners seem to be taking precedence over the jackets.

The group sort uses the artwork from the group folder and some of the group folders might have more than one file used for artwork (like Jackets, banners and backgrounds) renaming the files like this should work:
[folder name] - banner
[folder name] - jacket
[folder name] - background
If not then you might just have to delete the banner and keep the jacket. If you don't have jackets in the group folders there's a folder containing all the jackets for DDR series in DDR-2014-AC-Cab-ready--master\BGAnimations\ScreenSelectMusic decorations.

Hey, I've been using this theme now and I have to say I'm really impressed. But I just want to point out that the sorting options isn't working at all. Whenever I tried to open it the music cuts itself off and I can't navigate the menus no matter what key I press (although the Operator Switch still works, fortunately). I really hope that this gets sorted out as soon as possible.

I'm not sure what could be causing that, is it showing any errors?
Is it the sort wheel or the sort menu that you're talking about?

It sounds like Kh0ldst@re is using an outdated version of SM5, almost certainly older than beta 4. ScreenSortList, which you took from my Simply Love port, uses the input callback system, which wasn't introduced until beta 4.

Whoops, Silly me! Thanks for the DL link. I'll give it a shot.


It's not showing any errors. If it makes any sense I'm referring to the menu that pops-up when you press MenuLeft+MenuRight+Start.


UPDATE:Just updated SM to the latest version. The sort menu is working perfectly though the music still gets cut off.

Is there a way to reload songs/courses?

Just hit the operator switch (Scroll Lock by default), you'll see it between "Event Mode" and the Exit button.

Pressing the service switch (you can change what key it is in Config Key/Joy mappings) and it will take you to a service options menu, it's at the bottom of that menu.

I love this theme, but one "problem" I'm having is that every 5 seconds, on the top of the screen, it will say "hidden is deprecated, use visible instead. (used on )". Is there any way to fix this?

Does it appear only during gameplay? If so it's probably a noteskin problem, a few of the noteskins made for SM5 still use 'hidden' in there instead of 'visible'. Otherwise it's usually found in metrics, but I can't find anything there so I'll have a look through the theme.

Yeah, if you're using the old SM5 KatzeExtreme arrows, you will get that error pop up during gameplay. If not, then sorry.

My issues with this theme, in addition to the one darkanine mentioned, is that Edit Mode is almost unusable and the notification that says that a song is missing something is kind of annoying.

In Edit Mode, everything is so tiny and the white font with the background in the Options Menu makes the words very difficult to see.

As for the notifications, because I have many songs with out a banner, background, etc., particularly in DDR 2014, it pops up every few songs I scroll through every time I open up Stepmania (it stops when I go through all of them though). I hope there's a way to disable it.

I would use it otherwise.
