This thread is where you guys can talk about puzzle cubes, such as collections, record times, and other interesting stuff.

I currently own 23 (soon to be 36).

Pillar 1: LanLan 4x4, ShengShou 5x5, ShengShou 6x6 (missing pieces), ShengShou 7x7

Pillar 2: LanLan 2x2, ShengShou 3x3 (custom-made stickers), Helicopter Cube (unknown brand), Cube4You 3x3x4, ShengShou Mirror Cube

Pillar 3: QJ Mastermorphix, Rubik's Brand 3x3 "Lucky Cube" (preserved as luck, even after a blue center broke off and had to be taped back on, I can still use it), LanLan Curvy Copter, LanLan 3x3x2, LanLan Master Skewb (missing piece)

Pillar 4: YJ Wheel (corner broke off and is in the excess stuff below), LanLan Flower Rex Cube (interesting backstory, missing for a long period of time until found behind the table all of the puzzles are on), Meffert's Gear Cube (re-stickered to match Rubik's Color scheme, Purple is the fill-in for White), QJ Super Square-One, QJ Skewb (custom-made stickers)

Pillar 5: QJ Octahedron UFO, QJ Megaminx (missing centercap, superflip pattern), LanLan Void 3x3, QJ Pyraminx

I've came ever so close to solving a rubix cube. Dunno where I left it, its buried in my house somewhere. If I find it I'm going to try to finish it.

No. I can only go through 20 parts if I'm lucky. Very confusing.

Something interesting;

I am getting $150 dollars worth of cubes (13) within a few days to a week. I am allowed to get them 4 months early because I only asked for, like, 3 things for my birthday, and my parents think I deserve just a bit more.

The 6x6 in the first image will be a replacement part roaster in case something stupid happens to the new 6x6 I'm getting because of inner pieces that, if missing, cause the cube to lock up.

I am also trying out new 2x2s and 4x4s with a 3x3 mech.

The new puzzles are: Meffert's Gear Shift, a 3x3x5, Fisher Cube, an...interesting...cube, an Octahedron puzzle and a geared one, a Dino Cube (the easiest cube that's not too boring like a 2x2x1 or something), a Super Skewb, a 2x2x3, and finally, a Floppy Cube.

I am excited for all of them, whether they are new shapes, completely new challenges, better mechs, or extra pieces (the 6x6 in particular).

that's a really nice collection CuzcoBlocko Big Grin
I have a 3x3, 4x4 (shengshou, pretty sure it's the same one as in Cuszo's link) , megaminx (that I can't solve Dead), and a floppy cube
once I figure out how to solve parity errors on 4x4 I'll probably get a 5x5 or something, that gearshift cube looks interesting

This also helps.

Here are the stuff I'm getting in two days.

Why does the Square King (2nd to last puzzle on here) look like it's made out of wood?
The one I'm particularly excited about is the gear shift and the octahedron puzzles.

Some of these are from China, and I wanted some Pokémon action figures from China (like Snivy and Oshawott) for my birthday... We got 60$ worth of them (12 figures). And they never came in time for my birthday. And they still haven't right now, even after we filed a complaint. We are planning to get our money back and try again from a different store. I am sincerely hoping the same doesn't happen for my post-birthday gifts that I'm REALLY excited for.

Cubes have been shipped and there's only 22 hours left. I haven't this excited ever since I was, like, 11 years old! I will make unboxing videos for all 9 of the cubes, and when the extra 4 arrive a little later, they will have videos made as well.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/416ysL7rQRL._SY100_.jpg

This one looks a little intimidating, however...

http://th03.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2014/221/0/2/9_new_cubes_by_blockyshinx-d7ug3ta.jpg

My cubes have arrived, and I must say, I love ALL of them.

Turns out the "skewb" is really a 3x3 mod.

I can solve 6 of them already, which is pretty nice.

I will get back to you guys after I've used them for a while.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm back.

All 13 of my cubes have arrived. I'd take a picture, but it's late as it is.

Apparently two of them were expected to arrive by "September 2-18" but came to my house yesterday.

Anyway, let's sum up all 13 of them.

SHIPPING BATCH 1 (August 9th, 2014)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41JJZY6eTkL._SX100_.jpg

I was shaky on getting the V-Cube, since many people did not like them... My cubing idol (MeMyselfandPi) that taught me how to solve the Rubik's Cube in the first place, on the other hand, thought they were enjoyable, so I gave one a go... AND I LOVE IT. It corner cuts much better, it's mech makes it less prone to the internal edges popping (causing hidden lockups), and it's so much smoother than my LanLan 2x2 (albeit I've had it for 14 months), and I will use it as my main 2x2. I practiced with it, my average on it is 00:28.78 through 8 solves. The LanLan is a back up, JUST in case.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41QB7LNheGL._SY100_.jpg

An interesting puzzle. I still haven't figured out how to solve it yet. There's at least one cube with every massive unboxing (this is my 3rd MU) that I can't solve today, and this is apparently the one. Still needs some breaking in. (I tried solving it like a 3x3, like how you can with a Megaminx, but I don't think that's possible.)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/515R81uJSKL._SY100_.jpg

Have no idea how to cube? This is the easiest cube that I think I have that's not PAINFULLY easy (like say, a 2x2x1). I like the cube, and I suspect I could have solved it when I was 11. One thing that's interesting about it is I can split the edges apart and change where the colors are. And I can also solve it in reverse so that, say, yellow and white are switched.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41Lb%2BPld41L._SY100_.jpg

This one is enjoyable. I've solved it, like, 10 times. It's one of the most unique puzzles I have so far, and you can't disassemble it as easily as a 3x3. This can suck whenever one of the big corners get twisted and it gets unsolvable. Also, it's a bit stiff, and the way I turn it is very inefficient (JRCuber's way of doing it blew my mind). However, it's still a great puzzle.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51lKc76KnrL._SY100_.jpg

Another very interesting puzzle. I like how it's two puzzles in one, whereas you can use it as a backup 3x3 and combine that with what you'd expect on say, a Calvin's 3x3x5. I used my method of solving the 3x3x4 (that's mainly from crazybadcuber's method of solving the 3x3x2). There was an annoying parity error that I didn't know how to fix, but after using some random algorithms, I fixed it. I'll need to see how it solves more.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51sGIoYx6WL._SY100_.jpg

I had this a year ago, but I lost some internal pieces (that really bothered me when I looked at the mechanism) and it has had big pops and lockups, and I didn't like it. However, now that I got a new one that I'm sure has ALL of the pieces this time, I am satisfied to finally have a fully functioning 6x6. My old one will be used as scraps in case I break something.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41ePGptPuzL._SY100_.jpg

I think I like this more than my (what is the brand again?... ._.) 4x4. It's 3x3 isque mech as opposed to the usual ball mech makes it much more smoother and able to corner cut. Again, my other 4x4 will be a backup, but this is now my main one. This now completes a straight line in my Shengshous from the 3x3-7x7. (My 3x3 is worn out, however, and I am planning on getting a new one...)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/518dQL0l05L._SX100_.jpg

This is an intimidating image... it's solved state is less intimidating however, as it's yet another 3x3 shape mod. The image made me think on a second thought. When the cube arrived, I noticed a sticker on the orange-white center was missing. '-'; Also, when scrambled, it's incredibly pokey... Still a very interesting challenge, however.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/416ysL7rQRL._SY100_.jpg

I was worried when I saw this one as well, but again, another 3x3 shapemod. This is the 8th 3x3 I have (9 if the Void Cube is counted), and those take up 22% of my puzzles. Still very interesting, especially if you get a center confused with another mirrored one. Also the first rhombic dodecahedron I have. Turns okay.

SHIPPING BATCH 2 (August 11th, 2014)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51oyabYPWEL._SY100_.jpg

This one is very interesting, it's easy to solve, and it feels different. It's stickers are strange and textured, the centercaps bulge (but can't be taken off), and it has a clicking mechanism. Still very fun to finally have a complete set from a 3x3x1-3x3x5. :P

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31eHPVYkz2L._SY100_.jpg

The fisher cube. It's from the same makers as the Axel cube and Windmill cube, so all of the pieces have centercaps that can pop out if I accidentally drop it. Slightly annoying. However, I still like this cube. Sometimes when I turn it, I accidentally move another face of the puzzle due to how strangely shaped it is.

SHIPPING BATCH 3 (August 15th, 2014)

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51NCU7IxtXL._SY100_.jpg

This one is very interestingly fun to play with. I solve it like a 3x3x2 with no edges, and for the middle layer, using a method on the 3x3x4. One time, I realized how to disassemble it because you can SLIDE the pieces out, and it took forever for me to fix it. It also, for some reason, has the same stickers as my void cube. But, still a very interesting puzzle to have.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/5136gXkHFUL._SX100_.jpg

This is the biggest puzzle I have. A single edge of the shape itself is JUST bigger than a 7x7. I learned that this was a shapemod of a Gear Cube, but it was surprisingly very hard to solve. First, I had to actually begin to orient the centers somehow, and then I experienced some issues with flipping the edges. But I wanted to solve this ALL by myself this time. After 3 fails, I suddenly solved it. I need to play around with it more, it's a very interesting puzzle.

Overall, none of these cubes have let me down, I like all of them, the only one I have trouble with is the face-turning octahedron. I am eagerly awaiting for more cubes in 4 months on Christmas, and I'll DEFINITELY be getting an 8x8 (and maybe a new 3x3, since the one I have lost its stickers and is very dry and stiff). I have 33 usable cubes out of 37 (one broke ENTIRELY, another one has a broken center that I name to fix, one is very rickity and unstable, and the other has a missing piece). Any thoughts?

To date I've only ever owned two Cubes, a 2x2 one (which was a cheap promo toy that was the head of Darth Maul) and a 3x3 keychain one I had on my keys that I was one the way to finishing but my keys were stolen when my house got broken into a few years back.

Considering I'm a pretty clever lad you'd have thought I'd be able to solve these but somehow I am just so terrible at them.

Its a Gear Ball. I solved it twice, but I don't remember how I did it!

Solved it! I think I got the strategy down.

From what I can tell, solving the Gear Ball is exactly the same as solving the Gear Cube. But I don't really know, I do not own it ATM, only the Gear Cube, Shift, and Octahedron.

I learned from RedKB, even though I've solved it without knowing it a couple of times. I need to remember to get that one for Christmas.

My satisfaction with the V-Cube 2 wants me to try out the V-Cube 3. I might get it for Halloween, or for vacation to Disneyworld Florida this Halloween.

My Shengshou 3x3 is so clunky and stiff, and the stickers fell off (I resorted to using construction paper as substitutes, but...). I think it'd do me better to have a new fresh one.

However, that's only one out of 13 more cubes I'll get for Christmas.

Here's the list;

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41%2BsdfgqdOL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-vrIfGnJL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51q4e5pHEAL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51qnD5CT9OL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31gQ8hFMQvL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51eF4vMYyQL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/513SYHrXllL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/516TKmL5tRL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31Gok-loNqL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ShArOXGVL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41zmqcbjDzL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41nTtInAqzL._SS100_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41v3C6WExWL._SS100_.jpg

To have an 8x8 and 9x9 would be fun, a Square-1 is apparently a fundamental puzzle that is recommended in every cube collection (albeit I can't solve the Super Square-1), the "diamond" cube looks interesting, I have a Skewb shape mod for fun, a 3x4x5 (interesting challenge), Rubik's Magic and 360 (because I can), the Gear Ball, 3x3x6, Venus Cube (3x3 mod), Pyramorphix, and V-Cube 3.\

But I already got a lot of cubes two weeks ago, I can wait 4 months. I still suspect I am getting one early, though...

And even more.

28 cubes?

This should last Christmas AND my 15th birthday, and maybe even inch into Christmas 2015. :3 Because I can't get ALL of them. For instance, I can't spend 73% of my 150 dollars on only an 8x8 and 9x9, so the 9x9 is for my birthday. And there are many pricey ones ATM that I'll have to work on. But, no worries, as as long as all of the cubes I get don't break or have other glitches, I'm fine. I'm digging V-Cubes now after the V-Cube 2 blew my mind with it's smoothness. And I'm getting two for our vacation for me to play with on the plane. Because I got news that I CAN in fact go to Florida. In fact, going to Florida was what sparked my entire cubing interest when I got a plain old 3x3 that, while broken, is still usable with tape. But pretty much ALL of these look awesome... And some of them are unique puzzles, like the double fisher cube, the Mixup Cube, the Curvy Copter plus, the Professor Pyraminx, and more. However, right now I'm willing to place hands on the Mix-up Cube and the Square-1. If too pricey, the Square-1 and Geared Mastermorphix will work.

Man... I'm getting so obsessed over getting every type of puzzle cube lately.

Ack, I used to have that thing... I didn't know how to solve it, though, and threw it away after a few months of not knowing what I was doing.

To me, it looks like all you have to do is solve one of the 2x2s on the end, and then the middle, and then the other end, with some of the corners being entire cubes. Or something. XD I don't know, I don't own it yet, but I think I'm definitely getting it for christmas.

We have ordered 3 cubes for vacation. I'm not allowed to open them until mid-October because they are for the vacation trip.

The stuff;

ORIGINALLY I intended to have 2, but... I decided to get 3, which was only 5 dollars more after saving the Geared Mastermorphix for later.

Strange things have happened using the Square-1 simulator... I can't really solve it, but I got 3 lucky scrambles in a row and solved it with ease for those.

And then this happened after those 3 solves;

Oh my.

I think it will be different physically having the puzzle, as the way to turn the puzzles in what I use is confusing.

Just updated my cubing collection!

http://i.imgur.com/WTWoSyh.jpg

First column (top to bottom): Meffert's Gear Ball, LanLan Skewb
Second column: DaYan 2x2x2, DaYan ZhanChi 3x3x3, V-Cube 4 Pillowed Black version
Last column: ShengShou Pyraminx, LanLan? Face-turning Octahedron
Lube: Factory Team 3,000 cSt Silicon Differential Fluid. These seems to work well on my cubes.

I just got the V- Cube 4, Pyraminx, and Skewb today, so I haven't solved them yet. Well time to scramble them!

Would you mind re-checking your image link? All I see is a broken image icon.

Fixed. Apparently Dropbox doesn't allow linking images in that way, so I used imgur instead.
