Oops, I forgot about this thread again.
Odin (Novice 16)
Of Course You Need Me (Speedcore 3 16)
Also got really close to E1M1, ++ novice, and Impulso del Notte but the pads were kind of ass today (the other scores were from last week) so I could not pursue them further.
With those scores they certainly aren't fake passes
You can definitely do Twincore maid-gic, get to it
I was referring to that the songs were easy for 16s in my eyes, but thank you nonetheless. Twincore didn't go so great, it's on the backburner for later though.

Ooh I didn't know you make videos. If you feel like it you should make a video of your footwork/bodywork.. From the angle I see now it looks like you are very biased towards facing left and you heel-toe/bracket more than you should; it looks like you're abusing the fact that way offs are off. I don't want to come off too harsh because that'd be pretty hypocritical of me though lol. I mostly play with WO's off too and I have lazied my way through plenty of stuff even though I consciously try my best not to do stuff like that
try turning them on and using the bar and see if it's different ;)
Post #726 · Posted at 2014-08-06 05:24:19pm 9.7 years ago
Well, I do use the bar already, but yeah, I've known for a while that I am a bit biased towards the left.
I hear you on the way offs, I've been trying to keep the laziness down as much as possible, if you see some of my earlier passes (like over 6 months ago, different arcade), you'll see that there's a lot of going to low life/horrible scoring even with the way offs on because I get kinda sloppy; there are some points that I straight up turn too late/don't turn even with way offs on too. Basically I am consistently bad =P
The videos you just watched were both kinda old and I was lazy on uploading them, I'm scrutinizing myself quite a bit more now, there are things I've "passed" that I am not counting because of exactly what you said, I want to get to at least the level of BS that I did when way offs were on. Sadly until the arcade in question lets me work with the machine way offs are not coming back on, I want them back too, it makes me feel off whenever I do get something, and it's unfortunate that there aren't many good machines in the area to begin with.
Situation kind of sucks all around, really, I'd be happy to fail on a good machine with way offs on though. Don't worry about the harshness, everything sounded fine to me. (Also I'll try to get a footcam if/when the machine is in good shape again.)
EDIT: Made some typos.

Here is a score of mine on Denjin K Megamix from a few weeks back.
First 14 footer I've ever passed, extremely tiring towards the end IMO.
The score is not the best, but whateva, I passed it

"Yo dawg, I heard you like DDR..." |
On my road trip to Houston this past weekend, I played cabinet ITG for the first time in years. Both were on upgraded DDR cabinets.
On Thursday morning, I went to a Cinemark theatre in Gulfport, Mississippi. They were kind enough to let me in to play their ITG3 machine. 2 tokens (50c) for a single song. The pads weren't great, I got a ton of pad misses. And of course, translating what I've been playing on the keyboard and home soft pad to arcade pad seemed hard.
On Saturday, I managed to get to Game Guys in suburban SE Houston. I was permitted to play their monstrosity, an upgraded 573 machine with a 65" monitor. Although the ZiV profile previously advertised Simply Love, it was on ITG2 when I got to it. It still had all the advertised song packs, though.
The pads were slick, but largely true, and I quickly got my groove back.

My misadventures with a soft pad continue.
For my latest trick, I have replaced the carpet runner I had between my Ignition 3.0 pad and the rubber mat that further cushions me from the hardwood floor with carpet stripping. It's actually working much better at keeping the pad in place.
I still get occasional pad boos from missteps, but I was able to pull this off:
The MA is crap, but I'll take the 2 greats.
That's a 26" LED TV at 1080p. It connects to my old PC, a Dell XPS 420 powered by a Geforce 650 and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. I'm getting ready to replace the TV with a 48" LED. That way I don't have to look down so much at it.
And a different pad will eventually come into the picture. That Ignition pad is 8 years old.

I have nearly the same setup. Anyone know a good material I can put over my softpad to sorta make it a hard pad?

Back when I first started, I sandwiched a non-foam soft pad between particle board and plexiglass. I'm not sure how "hardening" a foam pad would work.

Fair enough. I guess I can try that.
APPEND: My softpad has randomly wrinkled over time from not being used. Anyone have a solution to that?

How do you store it? When I don't have it out, I slide it behind a dresser so it's pretty much pinned flat against the wall. The important thing is to keep it fully flat, not let it be held in a bent position.

Despite being obscenely out of shape, I'm still able to set an occasional record and impress a few people. These were just saved at the local ITG2 at the B&I arcade on South Tacoma Way between Tacoma and Lakewood in Washington.
Nothing too impressive to most people, but yeah, they're a little something...

I play my own chart (double/hard) for Over the "Period" on the local StepMania 5 cabinet and earn an okay score. I can do better, but it's good enough for now.
I'd consider this an 11 on the ITG scale. I originally labeled it as a 10, but bumped it up one after trying it on foot, no-bar. I suppose it's somewhere around a 15 on the DDR X scale.
The song is actually pretty cool; it's a shame that Konami opted to abuse it at a means of monetary extortion.

Don't post because you think others will be impressed. Post because YOU'RE proud of it. That's what matters. As for me, I finally got my feet on a true ITG2 dedicab again. These are spread over the past week.

I'm off this week, so I am definitely getting as much work in as I can.
I also decided to start using Irfanview to batch-resize all my pictures, not overload the thread anymore.
First round, I nailed down everything from Crispy.
Then I got all the machine records for NiNi.
And that was just the warm-up.
Don't know how I managed this one.
Exceedingly close to three stars on Habanera 1. If I had nailed down the stray arrow in the slowdown, it would've been mine. First time I played it, the 98.60% matched the machine record, so I was #2. Not anymore.
I decided I wanted to re-visit Da Roots. I played it two-player last week. But I got crossed up, and ended up playing Hard instead of Expert.
Honestly, I don't know how I ended up doing this well when I played it Expert later. The machine record is 99.95%. I'd love to know who pulled that one. Maybe Nick Denty visited, I dunno...
Now this one, I'm particularly proud of. Literally the first time I've played it in eight years.
This one was pretty good, too.
One of these days, I'll iron out the beginning on this one. Just gotta play it more often.
And this one, I need to iron out the middle.
Another one to be proud of.
First time I passed Disconnected.
These two pissed me off.
