Funny, I thought this thread was about X and not SN2. :VSeriously, though. The game's KO list was pretty solid in my book. Yeah, there were some duds (you can't get me to defend Lift You Up lol), but when it shines, it fuckin' shines bright. Like a diamond.
Also, the revivals (again, whilst predictable) were pretty stellar in my book as well, even if the good majority of them were from SN2 JP (if you couldn't tell, I didn't like SN2 that much).
All onions.

We're not talking about the cabinets, just the game.
Doesn't identify whether it's about the AC game or the CS game. So I'm gonna talk about the CS game.Post #44 · Posted at 2014-07-15 09:39:57pm 9.7 years ago

I think it's one of the weaker arcade games in the series but I have to admit I did like a lot of the charts as well as some of the new songs. That's saying much compared to some of the Wii games like DDR 2010.

Hey.
You know what?
I don't like your tone.
If me talking about the CS version is a problem here, then I'll stop. I personally don't see the problem in me doing it (it's still DDR X being discussed after all), and I haven't received any problems with my earlier posts here involving it, but I'll shut up about it if I must.

My main gripe with X is the song list, by far one of the weakest song lists for DDR (for both licenses and KOs). After the great SN2, it was dissapointing. Even the crossovers and CS songs were mostly meh.
Charts are a mixed bag, a bunch of them are good, others not so much (in Single, have not played enough Doubles to judge them). I don't really care about its interface (both its predecessor and sucessor had better themes IMO), and by now, I've got used to the announcers.
Overall, it was a decent release (SCREEN FILTER and widescreen support are really nice) with a forgettable song list for me :/

On lift you up, that song was never finished. Those vocals were done once and he planned to rework them but the sound team though the song was finished and put it in the game. This came up when the song first went public.
The reason I don't like X very much is because they brought on all kinds of new talent all at once instead of slowly mixing it in. To much change in too short of a period.

This was supposed to celebrate DDR's 10th anniversary and I think it was a miss.

DDR X had the best step team to work on a DDR game. The doubles charts for every song were amazing.

The announcer to me wasn't very annoying and if you don't like it, you could always just turn the announcer off.
You're going co- 100 com- We're danc- Excellent!
Okay, maybe he can be annoying.

I'm surprised no one's said a word about the Marvelous stars. I assumed someone would say they hated them and someone would say they loved them by now.

I don't understand the argument of "solid songlist". It had arguably the worst songlist of any mix. On The Break, on the bounce, Loving You (Epidemik Remix), and Waiting 4 U are the only songs from X I'll ever choose to play. And the others are just awful. Lift You Up?
Lift You Up is horrendous and you'll never get me to say otherwise but I still enjoyed most of the new songs. Then again, I admittedly always have either no expectations or low expectations of everything so maybe that's why I enjoy it, heh.

I don't think anyone liked SN2 US that much. Actually, I just don't think anyone liked SN2 US. To be fair, it is a pile of barf in comparison to every other PS2 version. I actually got infinitely more enjoyment out of Extreme US despite the horrendous interface and the stupid dance play bug.

okay it's not really a bug, but in DDR Extreme they took out the Dance Play options, which meant you couldn't turn off the corner arrows when you play. This meant that for people with large feet like myself, it was virtually impossible to play without hitting the corner arrows. At least, if you're using a softpad.

Yeah. Since I had big feet (still do, but I haven't played EXTREME on pad in over two years), when I'd press left or right, the down arrow would sometimes go off because my left foot would hit the X-button, or it'd hit the triangle button (right behind the left button) and trigger the up arrow. In other versions, they had "dance play options" to take out the face buttons (O, X, square, triangle) but they left them out/forgot them for EXTREME US (not sure about JP tho).

JP has it for sure. That's really stupid..

Also, EXTREME US was my shit, and I had 0 problems with the interface. Oops.
Sorry for rambling on.

anyway, BACK TO DDR X. Yay.
I'm happy that Street Master Mode actually gave the characters some development. I think that's one of the only things I really liked about it- it was long, tedious, and... some of the stories were really stupid. But now all I can think of is how much of an idiot Rage is. Thanks, Street Master Mode. I loved Alice's storyline, though.
I know this post has nothing to do with the AC version but I guess that's not a problem.

The Konami originals were hit or miss, but sadly the licenses were more misses than hits. Specifically, the ones from A Different Drum were absolutely BORING, especially when compared to good ADD licenses from Ultramix 2 and Universe (Skulk, Heart With a View, Superstar, etc.)
