If I was in the military or being tortured in Guantanamo Bay, I could accept this sentence.
The song does not fit well to what you're trying to make with the chart. There is no reason the chart should be used to 'increase footspeed' if it doesn't compliment the song (at least, this is MY interpretation of what makes a simfile good). 'Increasing footspeed' would be playing songs that have a higher BPM or rather a fast paced beat to the song that helps you READ faster rather than arrow spamming trills thinking that's a sure fire way to increase a trait that needs to be trained at a regulated pace. Essentially, playing a song that contains 1/16th's does not mean you can play any other song with the same amount due to your own personal resistance to the song, stamina, etc.
Why am I even debating this? My pet turtle and I can't have sex because of our bodies. Please take this into consideration. Rather, please read.
I am now sad

Try and take the criticisms and use them to make your project better, and not take them as insults that you feel you have to defend yourself against. Some of us have been playing these games almost as long as you've been alive. Trust that we might actually know a thing or two.

You're trying to do Sexuality Violation-styled (I think) charts?
Please, don't do it. It will make even worse..
I know that your challenge charts are designed for ITG players, but what about the casuals?
You should be aware the criticisms so those will improve your work better..
Also, 370K, calm down, no need to worry about those criticisms; but you really have to learn more about those and take it as your guide for your project..

There's a very fundamental problem with this philosophy of "writing charts to cater to a technique". There's even a case study in how that can go wrong: DanceDanceRevolution SuperNOVA2. As you may know, that game introduced Groove Radar Specials, charts for classic songs written to max out a particular element of the Groove Radar. Several of these charts are regarded by the DDR community as junk, with DEAD END (Groove Radar Special) and DYNAMITE RAVE (Air Special) standing out in dislike. The reason for this is that not only are the charts not exceptionally fun or well-made, but they don't complement their song very much at all. DYNAMITE RAVE is, well, a rave track that has speedy rap, speedy synths, and an overall energetic feel to it. What did the Air Special present? Almost nothing but 4th Jumps! It wasn't enjoyable and the song didn't feel right with the chart. Mind you, a tech chart can work, but in order to do so, it has to complement the song. For example, a gabba song might be suited for a footspeed chart, a big beat song might be suited for a jumpstream chart, etc.
Now, this for GHOSTS falls for the same problem as I mentioned before, except worse. At least with DYNAMITE RAVE you can argue that the pumping beat is integral to the song and should be charted (though obviously there was a lot more that should've been charted as well). However, these 24th trills that litter GHOSTS are, well, ghost rhythms. That is to say they don't actually exist in the song; you just added them because you wanted a difficult chart. Ghost rhythms are okay in moderation, but this is ridiculous because at no point in the song are there 24th rhythms to chart. In addition, the flow keeps on breaking. In just the opening seconds of the song (referring to the YouTube video), here are some spots I noticed:
0:30 - OK, the setup here is that you're facing upper-left because of the previous 2 trills. You would then hit the up arrow with your right foot then turn around and hit the trill with your left foot on the right arrow and vice-versa. This was a mistake because hitting the second trill after (right-up) would have you facing completely backwards and you wouldn't have a clue what to do.
0:40 - This big stair pattern would have you facing forward but then you go from "left-up-left-down" to "right-up-right-up" which would force you to do a 270 degree spin, which is insane at the speed of the notes.
We've played from the same machine, and I can tell you that the In The Groove fan charts that focus on foot speed typically have good flow (even if the patterns sometimes get a bit boring, but that's a lesson for another time). Even the Sexuality Violation files that you're parodying have good flow to them. Really, as a beginning stepper, the best piece of advice for you is to participate in the Summer Contest that's going on right now. The criticism that you get can be extremely helpful for honing your technique and learning what works and what doesn't. There are participants with years of experience along with extremely analytical reviewers who can pinpoint issues down to the beat. Also, let me assure as someone who had a fan project similar to this when I started: you don't want to rush a project. Take time to look over the charts, polish them, and most of all try to keep them fun.
I know criticism can be harsh sometimes, but an open mind can lead to growth from it. I really hope to see you succeed in the future!

There isn't really point in discussing in this thread.
People: here, have some advice.
370K: nope, I will do it my way. I don't need comments.
Personally I vote for locking this thread. If 370K doesn't want public comments / critiques / advices then let's not force them upon him. If you don't want to do it for community - then don't do it online.

I doubt I'd enter a Summer Contest since all of my simfiles are full versions, unless I just stick with DDR songs only.
I could give it a try.

That's not a valid reason not to compete. If you're willing to look around and actually ask for help, you'll find people who will be happy to help you with your needs, like cutting a song. Heck, look at the reaction from Z-I-v members here. Some of them want you to ask for their help. (cmiiw?)
Go for it! Hopefully you'll learn a lot there.

Yeah, I can gladly volunteer cuts and graphics if you need them! I can also act as your "Quality Check"; as long as it's not public, you are allowed to send your entry to others for suggestions/comments/etc. before submitting officially to the category.

I've made cuts for songs that I don't plan on using for my summer contests. If you want me to cut a song for you, I probably will.

if you want me to cut a song, I'll send you a pm of the .ogg with a link via dropbox. Just let me know. Alternatively, I've cut several mainstream songs already- mainly the first half (or so) of this list of songs.
