Umm. I don't think there's any arcade cabinet with a key like that... I know the ITG 2 cab has an extra button but I'm pretty sure that's always being used.
The red button on ITG cabinets is already normally mapped to "select".

What would I assign that key to on an arcade cabinet?
If you've got a 3 button cabinet, there isn't really any good choice. It's possible to put codes in the theme to allow the menu to be opened otherwise, but that is the responsibility of the theme's author( or at least it should be ).

I'm not understanding the select-key thing in the first place... and I'm pretty sure DDR 2014 doesn't even have a select key. Where did that idea even come from?

Stepmania has allowed the use of a select key for a very long time. The select key is the default way to open the version of options menus that he is using.

It's how the mod menu works in the later CS games (mostly between Fusion and Hottest Party 5)

In terms of appearance (side-bar on the select music screen), most themes that do this base it on the Pump it Up: Fiesta and Pump it Up: Pro series, which incidentally have an extra button on dedicated models that brings it up, though I don't know if any ITG/DDR cabinets do the same.

An old style DDR cabinet, which is what I have, does not have such a select button. So essentially there doesn't seem to be a clean and proper way to utilize the select button to get into the options menu.

Bind the combination of up arrow and start button to a key, and map that key to the option button?

I think it was changed to hold for options from SN1 on.

It would be nice to have the option menu able to be used from the start button as well though.

when I ever had a rare chance to play on an Extreme machine I'd press and hold for options. Unless I didn't realize that it might have been bootlegged.

It was most likely bootlegged, but probably identical to a real machine like most of the bootlegs. Holding down the start button works in all mixes with the option menu, but hitting the button twice only works in MAX-EXTREME IIRC.

Could you make this into a complete zip? It's painstaking having to download them one at a time since I'm not premium on Mediafire.

Also, I can't change game modifiers by selecting a song while holding down the button, it just goes straight into the song. Am I doing something wrong, is there an option in the settings or is this the themes fault. None of my other themes have this issue.

You need to map a Select key to access the options in Select Music before you choose a song.

I'm experiencing a problem with the score box during gameplay...There is no box going around it so the score is just floating and also, how do you enable the calorie display?

Cannot wait for the full release!

I found in BGAnimations\ScreenGameplay decorations, there is no score box or anything only the difficulty frame
