Good for him I guess, now he has all the freedom that he wanted.
Sad to see how KONAMI has lost lots of his main developers/staff though...

Lose Kojima and at that point Konami is pretty much dead.

Only if the new Pendulum Summoning mechanic for Yu-Gi-Oh! ends up sucking major league. Yu-Gi-Oh! is still Konami's Cash Cow. I feel that Konami might just end up eventually leaving the Video Gaming industry and just stick with Yu-Gi-Oh!

KONAMI survives mostly with its Sports Club division anyways, so even if Yu-Gi-Oh! fails, they still will make money by other means.

2197 - TOKYO: Konami Digital and Neuro Entertainment releases beatmania (1997) into the public domain worldwide. Unfortunately, most humans don't have fingers anymore and the game is extremely difficult to play. Konami expects to release their first editions of DanceDanceRevolution, pop'n music, and GuitarFreaks into the public domain the following year.

Lose Kojima and at that point Konami is pretty much revived.
Fixed. To be quite frank, we could lose Kojima right about now. I'm tired of all the money being hurled by his contribution, since he has essentially done the old tactic of "idolize cash-cow franchises, while hurling everything else in the back burner".
At this point, I say to Igarashi, "Good for you." At least he is going on the route of Inafune, rather than on the pathetic path of Naoki by going from one bad company to the next (maybe even worse).
Personally, I wish people like Yoshihiko Arai would do the same, especially with the bombshell that Namco themselves brought to one of his sleeper franchises, but that's another story for another time. =/
