Theatrhythm: Curtain Call (3DS) (International)

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call is the sequel to the theater rhythm action video game, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, for the Nintendo 3DS. It retains the "theater rhythm action" gameplay in which players use the stylus to tap and hold notes while fighting enemies. Much like its predecessor, the art style used is the same used for the avatars from Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade, Kingdom Hearts Mobile and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. A demo of this game was released on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 after its Nintendo Direct presentation.

A limited edition Nintendo 3DS XL for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call releases alongside the game in April 2014 in Japan.


Gameplay

Screenshots imply the game uses the same gameplay as its predecessor. Icons styled after musical notes must be tapped in rhythm to a song being played as a cursor moves over the notes or the notes move towards a cursor. If a red note appears on screen the player has to tap the screen; if a green note appears the player must hold the stylus down until the second end of the note passes; and with yellow notes, the player is supposed to slide the stylus in the direction of the arrows on them. Failing notes results in the loss of HP, with the stage ending in a Game Over if the party's HP is depleted. Released information confirms the return of FMS, EMS and BMS stages.

The game features a new "Versus Battle Mode" for rhythmic multiplayer action. The mode will have two players playing the same song and will try to get the higher score. Players will be able to inflict different status effects on one another.

Music

The game is set to have over two hundred songs. The game will feature songs from the original Final Fantasy up to Final Fantasy XIV as well as various spin-offs, including Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy Type-0 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

I very nearly bought Theatrhythm despite not playing any FF, so it's nice I managed to rein it in. I'm getting hype.

I was in the same boat as you Oni, except I rented it from Gamefly. The game gets really intense in difficulty level.

Can we fast forward to next Spring? I'm so very excited for this that I'm probably going to sing "The Sunleth Waterscape" over and over again... In all seriousness, I hope this comes stateside. I'm confident that American gamers want to play new songs after having the same ones over and over *Even that of iOS*. Especially since I spent more on the DLC than the game itself...

221 songs exactly. The game will have song from the first Theatrhythm + all DLC + all songs from iOS (and these songs are included into these 221.) We may have 80 new songs

Sorry to bump this, but how in the hell did I miss this thread? I just noticed the trailer for this on the Nintendo E Shop just last night.

Anywho this looks awesome and the collectors edition look kick ass. I still need to get the original as I only have the demo still saved on my system. Awe Piss. I just missed out on getting the collectors edition.

Oh jeez. Anyone know if any of Theathrhythm 1's DLCs will make the cut, or if they can be transferred, or something...?
It's gonna stink if I gotta download them all again...

All of Theathrythm DLC will be ... on Theatrythm 2 as songs in game. No additional payment for them.

Wow that's kind of a dick move for previous players but thankfully I only bought less than 10 DLC songs.

I'm surprised to see so little activity here. Specially after Square Enix has been pumping DLC tracks left and right. I've pretty much bought all songs from Chrono Trigger.
