Lots of arcades, even in Japan, do this. I don't know of any American arcade with IIDX that uses an official Konami monitor.

The bass platform wears out pretty quickly, especially so when you people play on stools (which is pretty common in American arcades at least since most people are too tall to comfortably play standing straight on the bass platform).

It's made by Betson.

The X2 cabs are actually pretty good. I played on that one in particular when they got it and it was great. I went there recently and it's still excellent, but the pads do need a little maintenance.

From what I heard, Betson's X2 cabs are much better than the shitfest of a cab for DDR X. It's not perfect, but is decent at least.

Any West Coast Canadians here? I'm over in Alberta! I so far have only met 2 people in my province who had played the game before. I am seriously doubtful that there are any machines hiding, but strangely enough I have seen CS 3-14 stocked in the stores here. Even bought a USKOC in store.

Sweet! I made a list at http://DDRX.ca/category/ottawa/ with Ottawa locations. There are at least six active locations. It's hard to keep track because many have closed recently.

Actually, two are active: Fun Junction (butterfeet) and Cineplex Cinemas Ottawa (formerly Coliseum, near-perfect pads). Several (Honest Lawyer, Putting Edge and Rainbow Cinemas) are now gone.

I find it ironic, and personally a bit upsetting, that you use both "Oh my God" (though not religiously) and "God bless" in the same post. I leave it up to you whether or not you wish to share your religious beliefs, but I am an evangelical Christian, striving to live in faith in everything I do, including playing DDR. That said, I'm not keen of the short-lived "Christian" DDR knockoffs: Dance Dance Resurrection, Dance Praise or VeggieTales Dance Dance Dance. (If the Lord wills, I'll get around to reviewing the latter two games one day.)

ever think dat big arcade (playdium) would replace their technika3 cabinet

with a groove coaster/rhythmvaders cabinet

and replace their pc cards

with online taito cards (nerica in japan)
