(I honestly have no idea if I'm putting this in the right forum or not... Music didn't seem like the proper place to do this, but feel free to scold me if I'm wrong)
For years it's stumped me as to how fan-made mixes of DDR songs are made. I don't know where I should get the vocal/sound samples to make a remix of, say, Fascination, or PARANOiA. I know the vocals are royalty-free vocal samples, but I don't know where to find them. I probably have been looking in all the wrong places, or I skipped over where these samples are, but I don't know where to find them.
I also don't know where to find sound samples. For example, in Fascination there aren't really vocal samples (besides the guy on the phone, which I cannot find as well) but it's the sounds in there that make you recognize it as a Fascination song. Fascination MaxX doesn't have any vocal samples, yet one can recognize it as a Fascination song because of its unique and specific sound samples, which I don't know where to find.
I've found an abundance of these fan-made remixes of MAX 300 and TRIP MACHINE and the other song series' in DDR, but I have absolutely zero idea how they made them. (Besides the fact that they used a music software, that's about where my progress ends). I'm talking about the good ones, not the ones that are just reversed or had one Audacity effect lazily added to them.

If the song is also present in IIDX, then it's possible to find a dry sample of pretty much every part of the track.

Thank you... This is very much appreciated. I'm surprised this is so buried in the internet, it's incredibly useful. http://tricoro.net/Forum/index.php?/topic/21-iidx-1st-20th-style-bms-files/

i'm glad it's still relevant to you, 500, but alas:

I might as well reinvigorate the topic then:Quote: Site Rules

Does anybody know how to extract sounds from music? Somebody has to, at least... I know how to make BMS files but I don't know how to extract audio from them, if that's how it works.

When you download BMS files (like from the link above), all the audio files are split. If you mean isolating a sound from a complete song, well, good luck with that...

I'm asking how the audio files are split, albeit I asked it poorly, so that's my fault.

I think it's ok to bump this thread as it's meaningful to people, and the link it talked about had died.
You should give that person credit for finding this thread to bump, I mean would making a new thread have been preferable in your opinion?

Oh, alright, I get why they're split up like that now. I'm a bit slow, my apologies. How does one get access to these files, though? I've found BMS/BME files aplenty that just don't have any audio associated with them.

Those songs must not be keysounded then, can't think of any other explanation.

I am enjoying this more than I should. I can actually use this to help me transcribe a few bemani tunes that are hard to listen to.

Now that I think about it, this thing probably belongs in the IIDX section...
