So I've been looking into adding some songs to my ITG disc to test out, but I've run into a problem.
I already have a whole folder of simfiles and banners ready to pack onto my disc, but I can't seem to find any type of application called "PCK Magic Packer" like the guide said I should use, or anything that can even pack .pck files. I've already searched everywhere, but I haven't found anything at all.
Does anyone know where I can find an application like this? If there isn't one, then is there an alternative to doing this?
And also, this was the guide that I was using, which itself is a bit outdated:
http://www.goofwear.com/itg2pc/itg2pc/StepMania/Tools%20and%20Docs/OG_ITG1PS2_Standards_v3_2.pdf

Well this looks interesting and promising, but even I can't find the PCK Magic Packer either.

Jesus, it's almost like any trace of something like this existing has completely vanished.
Maybe I can find some way around it, but at the moment I'm still not sure what to do.

I think I actually have this program on my computer since I too have been making custom PS2 ITG discs for a while now. (I even wrote a guide on how to do this years ago. I think it's still up on R21freak... Yup, still there. Here's a link: Custom ITGPS2 Disc Creation Guide)
Looks like the link to the pack of tools is dead there. I'll reupload them later today when I get home so you'll be able to have the PCK Magic Packer.

Google Chrome is telling me that the exe file could possibly be malware is it ok for me to ignore it?
Post #8 · Posted at 2013-12-15 11:30:26am 10.2 years ago
Ignore it. That's a false positive.
EDIT: If you mean the vcredist file, try not to install it and run any tool program from download link that require it. In case it failed to open because of missing vc component files, install it.

Thank you!
Also, how exactly do I save the .pck file I created to the PCKS folder on the disk? I've tried but whenever I say for it to open it just can't save the file.

check if that pck file is read only.
Post #11 · Posted at 2013-12-15 12:00:59pm 10.2 years ago
I just made the whole folder read-only and that seemed to do the trick.
The .pck file I just made in PCK Magic Packer is currently listed under a menu that says "Files ready to be written to the disc" and I can't seem to add it on because the disc is write-protected.
[Edit]: I believe my main problem now is that the disk won't allow me to add the file because it's already write-protected. I just looked at a video guide on Youtube for reference and apparently I should have been able to add the file easily, but my disk is pretty stubborn and won't allow it. What should I do?

If you're trying to add them to the actual ITG disc, that won't work. You can't just add to a game like that, its not a flash drive. You need a blank disc and you need to know how to burn PS2 games, which I'm not sure if we're allowed to discuss here.

Sorry about that, I thought that it was actually for the ITG disc.
The guides I was using didn't really mention anything about having to use another disc or having to use a modded PS2 for it to work.
I don't have a modded PS2 and don't currently have the money to mod it, so I guess I'm stuck for now.
I appreciate the help you've all given me up to this point.

No worries, some people just aren't as tech savvy as others. When you have the money, provided you're using a fat PS2 I recommend the flip top mod. I had it on mine and never once had an issue with it or swap magic. It's relatively cheap and easy to install, unlike mod chips. I used it for imports, but it does work with back ups.

Sorry about having to bump this thread, but I have a bit of a follow-up to my previous posts.
I was luckily able to get my hands on Swapmagic over the holidays. I installed the cover on my PS2 this morning and was successfully able to play a burned DDR game. I decided that maybe I could retry this and see where I could get.
Anyway, my problem this time is that the CD/DVD Generator file in the .zip file I downloaded seems to be broken and won't start up, and every copy I've tried downloading from other websites refuse to start for different reasons. Does anyone happen to have a working file that they can share?

The CD/DVD Generator works fine, the problem is that it's a pretty old program and isn't compatible with W7 or Vista. XP is the only OS I've gotten it to work on, so you either have to find a computer with XP (or emulate in in a virtual machine) or an alternate CD/DVD burning program that allows for the same information to be punched in.

Ah, that explains it.
I'm currently using Windows 8, so I guess you would be right. I think I can get access to a computer with XP if I look around some.
Thank you!

I dunno if it's compatible with Win 8, but try getting Nero. It can burn ISOs, I haven't tried it myself so I wouldn't know how good of a job it would do. If anyone here has had previous experience with Nero please let me know.

Just curious, but why would anyone want to go through this entire process? It's just much more simple to download openitg to your computer and hook up your pads through an adapter.

I've already tried an adapter. It couldn't be able to pick up some arrow combinations and Windows 8 lacks the drivers needed for it to properly work.
