Okay, not sure how to start this thread.

For quite a while I've thought about this and wanted to try this. If the title isn't clear enough, I've thought about AAAing an entire arcade mix in a day. Obviously just singles expert/challenge songs though doubles would be an impressive feat. There are only 3 reasonable mixes to try this on.

DDR Max (42 Expert songs)
DDR Max 2 (135 songs, fewer if not including course only challenge charts)
DDR Extreme (256 playable expert/challenge songs)

So pretty much the idea is to record everything and try to AAA every single song in one session, hopefully less than a day. haha.

So i want to try and test this out by first doing Max 1 and seeing how long it takes. Max2 and especially Extreme would be an incredible feat.

Right now I am trying to determine how long it would take for each mix, I've figured around 2-4 hours for Max, 5-10 for Max 2, and over 12 for extreme.

I just wanna see what other people think. How long would it take for something like this.
Also what would be the best way to set something like this up? I'll probably live stream it and would like some way for the viewers to see some sort of check list for what has and hasn't been AAAed yet.

I am not trying this for some kind of world record, just thought it would be a pretty cool thing to try if I can complete it.

It's my plan, have multiple cameras (probably 3) record everything then upload it on youtube when finished.

I am planning on trying DDR Max 1 later this month maybe between the 25th-27th

Extreme would be pretty amazing to see, but you're talking somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 hours if you had no breaks in between songs and AAAed everything in one try. Max1 should be pretty easy for someone of your skill, and Max2 probably not too difficult either.

I don't think I'd watch x hours of youtube videos, but it's something that'd be interesting to be done.

10 hours? If he played every song one time on EXTREME in a continuous play, it would more likely be ~7 hours. This isn't X we're talking here; there aren't that many tracks to deal with in EXTREME, and none of the songs go past (though some do get close to) 2 minutes.

If D ever tried AAAing all songs from MAX, then MAX2, and then EXTREME all in one sitting, it would be possible to do within a 24 hour period. With enough will power, and strong enough legs, I guarantee you it could be done.

1. You should livestream this! Or post it on YouTube.
2. Are these going to be on different machines? Or one of these? --> (X, X2, X3, 2013)
3. Are you going to do Expert then repeat the same song on Challenge if there is one or are you going to do all Expert songs and then do Challenge?

though actually the way Dr.D counts MAX2 implies Heavy or Challenge (not both), yet the way he counts EXTREME implies Heavy and Challenge. If it's Heavy AND Challenge, MAX2 will have 139 charts instead. If it's the other way around, EXTREME has 240 songs.

also you should learn to read more carefully

DDR Max would obviously be the easiest choice. The most difficult songs aren't even at the top of the modern difficulty range. With the few songs it has and the lower difficulty range, it would be doable in a short time.

I would honestly love to see this happen, because max has a few sons only... He should try to get doubles also. I'll be rooting for you!

Well yeah if you ignored the time to pick songs, get a game started, drink water, expel water, etc, then you're probably right. I haven't figured out a way to have the game just let me play 256 songs like a nonstop course yet.

The amount of time needed for failed attempts, restarting the round, choosing options, bathroom breaks, probably taking a snapshot of each AAA, etc. will quickly inflate the overall time.

There's no way I can do a perfect run on every song first try. I assume some songs may even take up to 20 mins or more (looking at you maxx unlimited).

I hope and think most of them, like 70%, will be done on first attempt. I came to believe I'd be averaging 3-4 mins per song. That is factoring in some songs will be replayed, options, resetting, etc. I wont know for sure until I try it, that is why I will start with Max 1 since it's the smallest of the 3 making it the best mix to practice and get an idea of what to expect in the next ones.

I probably wouldn't do the Challenge charts for Max 2 since they don't appear in the regular gameplay mode. But for extreme, I would do every chart since they are all playable. And if it wasn't clear, all of them should be done on Max1, Max2, or Extreme. I am not going to run down the street to AAA something on 2013 haha. Although I would be awfully tempted for a few songs.

I couldn't even PASS all the songs on Extreme in 24 hours without needing a massive break every 40 or 50 or so. Power to you if you attempt this, D. Especially songs like Paranoia Survivor MAX Challenge.

I have a tentative date set to 8/27 for Max 1.

Anyone have a suggestion how I should stream it? One cam on the screen and or body? Just screen? Another cam for something else?

Also, whats the best way to keep the audience informed on whats been done and what's left to do? I can only think of two ideas. One is to just print out a list of the songs and have a 2nd camera always on it. When I get one done, me or my friend will cross it out with a marker. The other idea is to just keep re copying then pasting the songs I still need to do every 5 songs or so in the chat room.

I am sure there are better ideas than this, so please suggest more.

edit: how do I get a timer going for my stream as well?

I say play the list from the first song to the last song in the normal set list, or if it is like DDR Extreme, put the wheel to ABC order and go from top to bottom.

ABC sounds like the better idea, or better yet, BPM listing. Finishing the set with Maxx Unlimited would definitely kill the chat.

DDR max 1 doesn't have Maxx Unlimited. That is max 2, but he will play max 300.

I can't decide what's the best order to do everything, damn I wish you could sort by difficulty in older DDRs haha. (technically there isn't even a difficulty in Max 1)

The only song that will give me any real problems will be Orion Civ mix. 300 won't be too bad, but I need to do it earlier than later I think to be safe, if after 4 hours of playing I can't muster up enough energy and concentration to nail it, the run is done.

Similarly, if I try max2 or extreme, I will try to knock out all the hardest stuff earlier so in case I can't I can scratch the run without too much loss.

I would love to see you do this on Max 2 if only for More Than I Needed To Know. Tongue

Not because it's hard at the ending to get perfect (what the hell) but because it's one of my favorite songs ever.

If the challenge charts in Max 2 don't appear in regular gameplay, does that also apply to Kakumei? I don't know much about the arcade version.

Dr.D what you can do then is make a prelist of a order you will be playing. Within the list you can have a easy song then hard song in that kind of order or you can have a song you like then a song you don't like. Remember tho, it is all up to you, were just gonna be in the back supporting you all the way.

Hey Derek, this sounds like a really cool idea. I could see myself doing this for Extreme, but I'd like to see how the logistics work out for you in your Max 1 attempt before I attempt doing this myself for Extreme. Keep me posted!
