Possible MLP version for LR2/IIDX

So here's what I've been thinking about doing. I've been wanting to do a project involving the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic series. Of course there's a Stepmania/DDR project going on. But how about a IIDX version using Lunatic Rave? I tried my hands on making my first ever simfiles for one of my remixes from the show and found it to be quite fun and new. To me, it's not as difficult as I thought it would be. Here's a video of the [ANOTHER] difficulty on 7 keys. Please note that it is fully functional just as the songs from IIDX are.



Granted it's still new to me, but I want to get some practice in on making IIDX simfiles. That's why I'm wanting some input with this and know if this is something that people would want. I'm sure there are plenty of bronies that play IIDX.

This looks great. I'd love it if you continued making these. I can't really give any criticism regarding the actual simfile itself since I'm rather new to playing IIDX, but it looks nice right now.

Looks nice indeed, the note layering is consistent, maybe a bit too much.
I mean, you keep the same key for the same sound for the whole song.
Also, I think in some parts there are not enough notes in columns 6 and 7.

Your patterns are really old-school feels like pre-IIDX RED charts (not a negative thing imo)

I made some pony bmses too, I'll pm them to you if you're interested. I don't have much time these days, but I think it would be cool if we could collab on this (unless you want to do this on your own).

Personally I'm not a fan of all these MLP spin-offs because I think it's silly to have an entire version based on the series. There isn't any gameplay mechanics being changed so they could just call it a theme and a songpack, but not an individual version.

However aside from me being a stupid downer, that chart looks really nice. It looks like something that could definitely come out of an official Beatmania game in my opinion, and the movie played along nicely. I wish you luck with the project.

I remember when I first started out with making DDR steps in Stepmania. My early works I kinda shy away from nowadays. I'm sure it would be the same with my IIDX notes. But I'm still learning and figuring out ways to make the notes. Would I would like to also do is make a custom theme for it as well. But I'm glad that people seem to like this.

Alright, so I tried the sample file. Since I'm a beginner I couldn't play it.
It would be nice if you added a Normal difficulty as well as the Hyper and Another difficulties, at least for the sake of having a complete set of difficulties.

Um... If you download the zip file and try it, you'll see that it is indeed a full set. As far as 7keys goes.

Whaaat. Hm... for some reason it doesn't show up. Though I should probably point out I'm using beat mode on Stepmania. I guess this might explain why some other difficulties were missing as well.

I found the problem. It was something wrong in the metrics of the IIDX theme (or noteskin maybe?) I have which, for some reason caused the game to crash.

Just wondering. How does one acquire "beat mode" for Stepmania? I'm curious as to how it looks and plays. Might even make two versions of the MLP pack for both LR2 and SM5.

Beat Mode is available on Stepmania 5. (If it isn't available, you may have to download a newer version) To enable it, all you have to do is go to the options screen, select "Select Game", and choose "beat". The default stepmania theme is horrible for playing beatmania on, so I suggest picking up a theme like this DJ TROOPERS theme.

Also I think there is some sort of horrible glitch in beat mode which makes some difficulties simply disappear on the song select screen. Or maybe it is just me?

I've already downloaded it the latest yesterday from the website but I don't see it in the select game.

You'll need a noteskin for beat mode. The theme King Mew linked to should include the noteskin.

I'd say StepMania in general is horrible for playing beatmania on, but that hasn't stopped people before.

In both. At first I thought it might be something with the theme, since I was getting crashes when trying to view the hidden difficulty's data in edit mode in the DJ TROOPERS theme. Then I realized it crashed when trying to view any simfile data on edit mode.

To make sure it wasn't some strange glitch in the DJ TROOPERS theme, I changed to default, and still some difficulties were not selectable.

Yeah, it's not as good as lunatic rave, but it's good enough for me right now. Especially considering that I am on linux right now and I can't get LR2 to work with Wine.

Sorry for bumping this 4+ year-old thread. I'm hoping the people in this thread will see this reply.

I am the assistant department head for videogaming at Ponyville Ciderfest. I am planning on having a lr2 setup in the game room, as far as I know this will be a first for a pony convention. Only problem is, I only have 4 MLP songs, played in this video:


If anyone has any other pony bms that aren't easily found in the wild, please point me to them! A MLP theme for lr2 would be nice too, but I'll take whatever I can get. Thanks for taking the time read this!

It is really weird seeing my old posts in here...

Anyway, I don't have any definitive answers for this person's question, but I will try to be at least a little helpful... I don't know of any other MLP BMS files other than the ones linked in this thread. Although that's because I stopped watching and caring about MLP at all a few years ago. That being said, I don't think that many BMS files could have come out since then. I'd assume a lot of other bronies who cared about this stuff have also moved on at this point.

Still, I recall the files being pretty good, and I think any convention could do with more Lunatic Rave, so even if you can only find those files, I'm sure the setup will still be great!


EDIT: I thought it'd be funny to point out that as I say this, my ZIv theme is still customized to have a pony in the header.
