So tomorrow I'm doing an arcade visit after a final I'm about to do in college.

Also, are you guys going to be doing any meetups prior to DDR Storm or even possibly after? I unfortunately cannot make Storm. Please let me know if you guys want to do a meetup at a random arcade or something, I could end up making it within the next 2 weeks since no college until early May!

Depending on where you live, you might not find that many 'meet ups' prior to DDR Storm, in fact just yesterday they had a meetup in Orlando with the X3 machine being put on free play (you had to pay $10 to get in though). Outside of that the next one they are planning in happening a month and a half after Storm.

That kinda sucks.

I can't go to storm as I do not feel like wasting real money on rhythm games for like 1 bracket. Also, YGO Regional Tournament so I can go to Nashville later. (cannot wait to get my invite!)

Oh, looks like I haven't posted about Metrocon here yet...

Metrocon happens approximately three weeks after Storm in Tampa, FL. This will be the first year that it will be a full 4-day convention weekend (Thursday - Sunday). The game room will have a DDR machine (not sure what version yet, will edit post when I get that information) PLUS someone will be bringing a K-shootmania setup (I might bring mine as well if I can get word from the video game coordinator >__>). Keep in mind someone last year brought an osu! keyboard/tablet setup to the convention so really anything is possible so long as you're okay with random people touching your controller. No word on what kinds of tournaments will happen for DDR but once again, will edit post when the information trickles in Smile. We will most likely have a regular Standard Tech tournament, but given that we have more days for the convention there may be plans for another tournament for the event, yet nothing has been said so far exactly what it will be.

Oh, did I forget to mention that FRACUS&DARWIN are playing the Saturday night rave?

If you don't know those two by now, please educate yourself on some of the best of the best UK Hardcore sounds. Or pop in the SN2 soundtrack and have an enjoy!

Hope to see some of you guys there Smile

Is that going to be your friends machine or not? If I go, I might just stop by your friend's to play ITG later (and let him know beforehand). Double plus if it is!!

Unfortunately no, this is another friend who has multiple DDR machines across Orlando (and Kissimmee) actually, he is bringing in a DDR machine that is being run on official hardware, plus I don't think he owns an ITG cab and/or a cabinet fitted with an ITG game.

My other friend who does own it is very keen on bringing his machines to conventions since he has never done it before, but over time if he does manage to get more BEMANI arcade machines it is likely he will be able to bring not just the oITG machine but a few others he is planning on getting.

Typically it's every Sunday that he has his house open for free play on his DDR/oITG machine, but he's been getting pretty busy with work as of late so there may be a few Sundays where he may be working and won't have his house open to guests. If you ever come by anytime before, during, or after MetroCon let me know so that I can hit him up and let him know that you want to come over to play Smile

"Yo dawg, I heard you like DDR..."

Here's some of what's going on lately in Orlando.

At WhirlyDome, the Extreme machine has got the "cassette error". I've covered this on the Florida music game Facebook page. They've told me the tech is working on it as he comes around. It was off completely after they moved it last weekend. It's now backed against the basketball machines, roughly across from where it was.

At Magical Midway, DDR SuperNova recently has been turned off. One of the techs who works on their games has told me it's "too expensive" to fix and "not worth it", and has threatened to remove the game if I push the issue. Dude, sensors only cost $9 a piece. The managers don't seem to care.

At Dave & Buster's, they fix the sensors as they go out. I've seen them work on it, they keep sensors on-hand just in case. I've heard they fixed them up again very recently, because someone is saying both sides are working okay.

NASCAR Sports Grille's SN2 machine has popped up again at I-Drive Indoor Kart Racing. It's a gigantic warehouse just off I-Drive at the corner of Municipal and Vanguard, 1 block away from the Sonic Drive-In. The 2P side plays perfectly. Seems to have sensor issues on both left and right arrows on the 1P side.

Also, Altamonte Springs got a new Arcade called Power Play Zone. The Machine is a DDR EXTREME and it plays pretty good. A little unsersentive and slippery though. It's on free play with 5 songs but play there is $12-15/hr for games by the hour. Kinda pricey, but it's a decent place. I also asked about holding a tournament, staff was interested. There is a private event deal out there, but I'm not too sure how management will react to a DDREX tourney though.

Saw them fix all the sensors before i left on the day we met.
EDIT: Just visited on May 26. The left pads seem... less responsive. The right side still goes off randomly.

Jacksonville Area is bad. Most pads dont work and everybody is a private arcade owner now.

Apparently, all the DDR X2 machines have been removed from the Universal parks. The only DDR machine left on Universal property is the one in the theatre.

And the DDR Extreme machine at WhirlyDome is gone. Guess they couldn't fix it. It seemed to have a fairly fatal error.

Very sad day. Sad

Even more sad news. At least I got to play on WhirlyDome's DDREX before it was removed. I could eventually end up buying a 573 era DDR cab and converting it to oITG for all to play. Time will only tell when my wish will be fulfilled.

On a side note, are the pads for the remaining ITGs in the state can handle songs from the Tachyon packs? (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, Epsilon) or maybe Speedcore packs?

No idea, but my friend's DDR/oITG machine most definitely can ;)

It seems private machines for DDR/ITG/PIU are the way to go in Florida, there are not that many machines left out there anymore AND EVEN then, those that are still on location have questionable to not even working pads. Sucks :/

It's great. How about an openITG conversion?

Also, greetings from earlier today!

Hoping to see more ITG players at Rebounderz!

In sad news, Disney Quest announced they're closing next year to make way for the NBA Experience which is closing down in CityWalk.

Disney Quest may not be the most up-to-date place, but it sure is nice to have hundreds of free games to play when it's too hot to go to one of the parks.

I wonder what will become of all the machines in there...

Haven't been there in 10 years. My understanding is that they never really fixed up their X2 machine.

This only saddens me after the closure of Wet N' Wild some time ago...

Damn. No more modern pump in Central FL public for me to play on.

In probably better news, I could end up buying my own DDR cab and converting it to openITG. Before the end of the year, I promise guys!
